Late News In Memoriam: Norvin L. Pellerin, Pellerin Milnor Corp. KENNER, La. — Norvin L. Pellerin, retired president/ CEO of Pellerin Milnor Corp., died Feb. 11. He was 86. “Norvin took pride in offering the very best to his customers, family, and friends throughout the world,” Milnor says. “He was a true visionary, who held 18 patents for various laundry machinery and pioneered top-transfer continuous batch washing. … Norvin’s design and engineering expertise, as well as his leadership, revolutionized the laundry industry.” Pellerin won many awards, including Tulane University’s School of Engineering Alumnus of the Year in 1996, the National Association of Institutional Linen Management (now the Association for Linen Management) Hall of Fame in 1998, The Rudolph Maglin Lifetime Achievement Award for Associate Members from TRSA in 2004, and the Junior Achievement Hall of Fame Laureate in 2012. Surviving Pellerin are his wife of 63 years, Sue; two sons, Jim Pellerin and Curtis Pellerin; two daughters, Julie Bukrey and Renee Gordon; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to either the Junior Achievement of Greater New Orleans (5100 Orleans Ave., New Orleans, LA 70124) or the Willis and Mildred Pellerin Foundation that awards merit-based college scholarships (P.O. Five star laundry adds second tunnel, automates much of plant By Bruce Beggs, editorial director CHICAGO — When Five Star Laundry started in 1999 by opening its plant here, it began building its hospitality linen business on the promise of producing high-quality finished linen in a timely fashion for its clients. Today, while serving 30 hotels totaling 14,000 guestrooms in and around Chicagoland, upholding that promise has never been more important. And so it was about a year ago when Five Star Laundry decided to invest approximately $5 million to bolster its plant automation and production capacity to meet the needs of the growing hospitality market in the Windy City. Survey shows TRSA members leading textile services industry safety gains Incident and serious injury rates are lower than those for industry as a whole ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Textile Rental Services Association (TRSA) member companies again reported their operations are safer than those of non-members as incident and serious injury rates

in TRSA’s annual survey for the second straight year are lower than those for the linen and uniform supply industry as a whole, the association reports. TRSA survey results showed an annual total reported incident rate (TRIR) rate of 5.3 per 100 employees, 7% less than the 5.7 indicated for the industry by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The number of injuries per 100 employees that resulted in days away from work or restricted duty
