PUBLISHER’S LETTER Dear Valued Readers and Supporters, First and foremost, I want to express my sincere gratitude to each of you for joining us for another defining moment for ATL Plus Magazine — the release of our highly anticipated The Man Behind the Brand Edition. This edition is about more than success. It is about the men behind the businesses, ideas, careers, and brands that we see every day. We wanted to go beyond titles, accomplishments, and public images to tell the stories of the vision, discipline, sacrifice, resilience, and purpose that helped build what exists today. Within these pages, we introduce you to an extraordinary group of entrepreneurs, executives, athletes, entertainers, creatives, innovators, and community leaders who are making an impact in Atlanta and beyond. Each has taken a different path, but they share something important: the willingness to believe in a vision and do the work required to bring it to life. The Man Behind the Brand gives us an opportunity to look beyond the finished product. Behind every successful company is a story. Behind every recognizable name are decisions that had to be made, risks that had to be taken, setbacks that had to be overcome, and lessons that could only be learned through experience. At ATL Plus Magazine, we believe those stories deserve to be told. This edition also arrives during an important new chapter for ATL Plus. As we continue to grow and reintroduce the magazine with a new vision, our commitment remains rooted in the people and culture that make Atlanta one of the most influential cities in the country. We are expanding how we tell those stories while remaining focused on authentic editorial coverage and meaningful connections to our community. For this edition, we wanted our readers to see these men not simply as the brands they represent, but as individuals. We explore where they started, what drives them, the challenges that shaped them, and what they are building next. Their stories remind us that success rarely happens overnight and that the person behind the accomplishment is often the most compelling part of the story. To every individual featured in The Man Behind the Brand Edition, thank you for trusting ATL Plus Magazine with your story. Thank you for allowing our readers to see beyond the business card, the spotlight, the social media profile, and the public accomplishments. And to our readers, advertisers, partners, contributors, and ATL Plus family, thank you for continuing to support this publication and the people we have the privilege of featuring. As Publisher, I am proud to present The Man Behind the Brand Edition and even more proud of what it represents: ambition with substance, leadership with purpose, and the stories behind the people helping shape what comes next. Welcome to The Man Behind the Brand. With warmest regards, Ebony Q. Mayo, Publisher WWW.ATLPLUSMAGAZINE.COM

For Isaac Keys, the journey into entertainment began not with a master plan but with a moment of uncertainty. After years of dedication to professional football, Keys found himself at a crossroads, unsure of what would come next. It was during a few panel discussions and industry events that he found inspiration in the energy surrounding actors and their work. “I honestly enjoyed seeing the attention they received from the work they had put on screen,” he recalls. “In football, I worked so hard but never really saw the gratification for my efforts. I realized I didn’t mind putting in the work—I just wanted to see the results.” When his football career ended, that realization sparked something new. “When I caught that acting bug, I started putting the work in, and I could see the instant gratification when I did something good. I could hear the applause, and that still inspires me to this day.” Over the past sixteen years, Keys has steadily built a reputation as a talented and versatile actor. His defining moment came with the role of Diamond Sampson on Power Book IV: Force. “They say it takes ten years for an actor to break, meaning to be recognized for their work,” Keys says. “It took about ten years for me to be recognized for this role more than any other. I’ve been acting for sixteen years, and while I’ve had other TV roles, this one—this is the one people know me for. The Power fan base is like no other.” That breakthrough moment didn’t just raise his profile—it reaffirmed his belief in persistence and preparation. “I’m thankful for it, and all I want to do is build off that and create great work.”

For Keys, success isn’t measured by fame or social media visibility. “You have to measure success on your own personal scale,” he explains. “Because the industry is constantly changing, you can’t chase it. You have to stay constant in who you are but always want to progress and be better—not just as an actor but as a person.” His philosophy centers on inner growth and perseverance. “If you keep working on yourself, the industry will revolve back around and catch you at your greatest point. Measure your success off your progression.” That sense of balance also comes from home. Keys credits his family and friends for keeping him grounded as his profile continues to grow. “I have a strong support group,” he says. “I have great friends and family who always humble me. They’ll joke about my scenes, call me out on my photos, and keep me laughing. But they also tell me when I’m wrong or making a bad decision. I don’t need yes men—I need people who will tell me the truth. That’s what keeps me real.” When it comes to the changing entertainment landscape, Keys admits he’s cautious about the rise of artificial intelligence and its impact on creativity. “Honestly, it’s kind of threatening,” he says. “Studios can use an actor’s likeness to create scenes. Writers could be in trouble because AI can write full scripts. It’s helpful in some ways, but it’s scary too. I just focus on finding good work and making it great.”

In 2026, interior design is stepping away from sterile, cookie-cutter perfection and moving toward homes that feel genuinely lived-in, storied, and meaningful. Rather than spaces that look as though they were replicated from a single magazine spread, designers and homeowners alike are embracing a more collected aesthetic—one shaped by treasured heirlooms, personal mementos, and objects with real history. This evolution reflects a broader cultural longing for authenticity, sustainability, and emotional connection within the places we call home. For years, popular interiors were driven by fast-moving trends: matching furniture sets, ready-made vignettes from the latest collections, and highly curated, Instagram-friendly palettes that shifted season after season. While undeniably polished, these rooms often felt impersonal. By 2026, the pendulum has swung back toward interiors
that tell a story, where layers of generations, travels, and memories are woven naturally into daily life. The new ideal is no longer about committing to a single aesthetic and executing it flawlessly. Instead, it’s about thoughtful layering. A collected space might pair a great-grandmother’s sewing table, repurposed as an entryway console, with hand-painted ceramic bowls passed down through the family and displayed openly. Vintage books, framed postcards, and worn textiles coexist with contemporary art, while hand-stitched quilts and heirloom rugs add depth, color, and a sense of age. Furniture bears the marks of use—a softened leather armchair, a weathered wood sideboard—and those imperfections are celebrated rather than concealed. It’s this intentional blending of old and new that creates interiors rich with warmth and character. These homes don’t just look beautiful; they feel personal, inviting, and deeply connected to the lives lived within them.

Swerve joined AEW in 2022 and quickly established himself as a performer with the charisma and confidence needed to become a centerpiece of the promotion. He brought an unconventional energy to his matches and promos, separating himself from the crowded field of talented wrestlers. His ability to tell a story inside the ring while connecting with audiences outside of it became one of his greatest strengths. Music has also remained a creative outlet for Swerve. Performing as Swerve The Realest, he has released music and collaborated with established hip-hop names, including Raekwon, while incorporating his musical background into his wrestling presentation. His projects, including You Couldn’t Be Me and Motion Sickness, showcase another dimension of an entertainer who has always embraced multiple forms of creativity. That versatility became even more evident during his championship rise. At AEW Dynasty in April 2024, Swerve defeated Samoa Joe to become AEW World Champion. The victory made him the first Black wrestler to capture the AEW World Championship, creating a historic moment for both his career and the company. More importantly, the achievement reflected the years of work that had gone into developing him into a main-event performer. Swerve’s championship success helped solidify his position among AEW’s elite. His performances against some of the company’s biggest names have consistently demonstrated his ability to thrive under pressure. Whether facing established veterans or rising stars, he brings an intensity and confidence that makes his matches feel important.

In 2026, Swerve has continued to remain an important part of AEW’s programming. His year has included major matchups with stars such as Kenny Omega and Brody King, as well as a run in the Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament. His continued involvement in major storylines demonstrates that his role within AEW extends well beyond his previous championship reign. One of the qualities that separates Swerve from many performers is his attention to presentation. His fashion, music, entrance, promos, and wrestling style all contribute to a character that feels complete. He understands that modern professional wrestling is not simply about what happens between the ropes— it is about creating an experience fans remember. That approach has helped Swerve develop a loyal fan base while becoming an influential figure for a new generation of wrestlers. His story demonstrates the importance of staying true to one’s identity while remaining willing to evolve. As AEW continues through 2026, Swerve Strickland remains one of its most recognizable and versatile stars. He has already made history, captured championships, delivered memorable performances, and established himself as a major personality. Yet his career still feels like it is building toward something bigger. Swerve’s rise is ultimately a story about creating your own lane and having the confidence to stay in it. Whether he is holding a championship, delivering a memorable promo, performing in the ring, or exploring his creativity through music, he continues to show why his name belongs among professional wrestling’s modern standouts.

CAREER & FINANCE
A
tlanta has always been a city that knows how to build—companies, culture, community, and momentum. Today, however, the city’s entrepreneurial landscape is defined by a modern tension: extraordinary opportunity paired with elevated pressure. High borrowing costs, cautious consumer spending, workforce competition, and widespread construction and redevelopment have created an environment where small business owners must operate with the creativity of a startup and the discipline of a CFO. The good news is that Atlanta remains one of the most fertile cities in the country for entrepreneurship. But the businesses winning right now are not simply chasing sales—they are building systems. The current era favors resilience over noise, clarity over hustle, and strategy over speed. Atlanta’s entrepreneurial ecosystem remains active, supported by a strong base of universities, corporate headquarters, and a growing innovation economy. However, capital has become more selective. After the funding highs of 2021 and 2022, investors and lenders have entered a “proveit” phase, prioritizing efficiency, margins, and predictability. Whether seeking venture funding or a traditional loan, businesses are expected to clearly articulate how they generate revenue, how soon they do it, and how reliably it can be sustained. At the same time, elevated interest rates continue to affect expansion decisions. For owners relying on credit lines, equipment financing, or real estate loans, the cost of capital has reshaped growth strategies. While forecasts suggest possible rate relief in 2026, entrepreneurs cannot afford to wait.
The businesses that endure are designing models that work under today’s conditions, not tomorrow’s assumptions. Atlanta’s growth story is real, but uneven. While healthcare, logistics, services, and technology continue to drive job creation across the metro area, some neighborhoods and corridors face foot-traffic disruptions, redevelopment delays, or shifting consumer behavior. Successful entrepreneurs are treating location strategy as an evolving plan rather than a one-time decision. One of Atlanta’s most underutilized advantages is its local support infrastructure. City-backed and partner-led programs offer meaningful leverage for small businesses looking to modernize, stabilize cash flow, or improve visibility. Initiatives such as Invest Atlanta’s Small Business Improvement Grants have provided eligible businesses with funding for storefront upgrades, signage, lighting, and code-related repairs. In this environment, overlooking local resources is equivalent to leaving growth capital on the table. Operating successfully in Atlanta today requires a shift in mindset. Strong owners are managing their businesses as cash-flow companies, not simply busy ones. Visibility into weekly financials, margins, labor efficiency, and demand patterns allows uncertainty to be transformed into informed decision-making. Margin strategy has become just as important as pricing, enabling businesses to reinvest in marketing, retention, and infrastructure. Diversifying revenue streams has also become essential. Consumer behavior is fragmented, and relying on a single lane of income introduces unnecessary risk. Businesses that layer subscriptions, events, retainers, packaged offerings, or productized services are better positioned to absorb market shifts without losing momentum.

ATL+ MAN BEHIND THE BRAND
Marketing, too, has evolved. The brands winning in Atlanta are combining community connection with clarity and consistency. Partnerships, local engagement, and a clear value proposition matter more than chasing algorithms. Social media amplifies success, but repeat customers, referrals, and reputation remain the foundation. Technology and automation are increasingly part of the equation, but the smartest owners are adopting tools that save time and reduce friction—not those that simply look innovative. Even modest efficiency gains free up hours that can be reinvested into relationships, partnerships, and customer experience. Finally, disruption has become a standard operating condition. Infrastructure projects, street redesigns, and redevelopment can challenge even well-run businesses. Those that plan for disruption—through delivery options, destination-worthy experiences, proactive communication, and strong local relationships—are far more likely to weather the impact and benefit from recovery initiatives that follow. Atlanta’s entrepreneurial moment is not about whether opportunity exists— it does. The question is who will be positioned to hold it when it arrives. In this city, the businesses that commit to disciplined operations, diversified revenue, smart use of local support, and long-term thinking do more than survive. They become institutions.
