▲Atlanta lost another landmark restaurant in September when Zesto on Piedmont Road in Buckhead after more than 50 years in business. The restaurant was well known for its ice cream, hot dogs, and burgers. Owners Jimbo and Leigh Ann Livaditis said the property at 2469 Piedmont Road had been sold to an undisclosed buyer, as well as the adjacent Splash laundromat and Fiesta Foods grocery store. Leigh Ann Livaditis said they had been struggling to keep the restaurant afloat when the buyer made an

offer. She said labor shortages and continued loitering issues had deterred customers. The Livaditis family still operates locations in East Atlanta and Forest Park. Tickets for the 17th annual Taste of Buckhead, set for Oct. 6 at 6 p.m., will feature 5Church, Zunzi’s, Irby’s Tavern, Sister, Postino, Henri’s and many more. Get tickets at tasteofbuckhead.org.

The Interlock project in West Midtown has announced new tenants for its second phase including Starbucks, Kura Revolving Sushi Bar, and Five Guys.

Chops Lobster Bar in Buckhead has reopened its downstairs dining area after a fire in January.

Executive chef and co-owner Ashkan Famili will open two locations of his Persian restaurant, Yalda, this year in Sandy Springs and West Midtown.

Restaurant RIP: Slabtown Public House in Old Fourth Ward, Lake & Oak barbecue in East Lake, the Marietta Street location of Delia’s Chicken Sausage Stand, and Brush Sushi in Decatur (but it’s relocating to Buckhead in 2023) ▲Virginia-Highland favorite 8ARM closed earlier than expected at the end of August. The Ponce de Leon Avenue restaurant, created by the late Angus Brown, announced in June it would permanently close in October after its BeltLine-adjacent property was sold for redevelopment. Co-owners Skip Engelbrecht and Nhan Le recently opened Fishmonger in PonceyHighland and will open a second location in Pratt-Pullman District. The restaurateurs also plan to open comfort food outposts Small Fry at Atlanta Dairies later this year.
