Gesture Drawing in the Garden

Adding daily drawing to each day enhances your art! Come join this 1 day workshop and get to know the Garden again! Sketching allows observational skills to grow. Taking studio technique into the Garden.

Work with pastels and charcoal to capture light and movement of the flowers in the Garden. Sketch ‘en plein air’ focusing on the fall flowers in bloom. Supply list provided upon registration.

Landscape Painting with a Palette Knife

Fall in the Garden - Mixed Media Fall flowers and colorful leaves are a part of every beautiful garden. Using mix mediacolor pencils and watercolor, join us in the Garden and dive into color for a 2 day workshop that will jump-start your creativity as we begin to transition into the cooler months. We will layer watercolors with our pencils, using Uart paper. Supply list provided upon registration.

Discover how to use the camera no matter how fancy or simple it is! Learn how exposure works and understand aperture, shutter speed and ISO. Spend a couple of hours in an outdoor setting while your instructor teaches you about all things camera! Spend some time shooting the fall splendor of the Garden and share your photos via online with other students! Bring a camera, including cell phones.

This class explores container gardening basics including plant selection, soil types, and choosing appropriate containers. Learn about annuals, perennials, trees, and shrubs that do well in pots. We will emphasize container garden design principles and plant combinations for year-round appeal.

Enjoy a relaxing evening dining, sipping, and learning as local chefs prepare a four-part small plates menu with the freshest ingredients.

Beekeeping: Getting Started This is an information-gathering class about the feasibility of beekeeping in the area.

Learn the basics of beekeeping and the beekeeper’s year, where to find materials, and when and how to get started. Weather permitting, students visit the Garden’s hives for a demo. Register early – space is limited.

Fine Line Pen for Botanical Illustration Fine line pen is the ideal medium for botanical illustration because it reproduces so beautifully in books and publications.
