Sketching en plein air means “painting in the open air” to capture the light and movement of the tulips. Bring your favorite medium to work in – pastels, color pencils, watercolor or pencil and sketchbook. Wander the paths and focus on the tulips in bloom. Supply list provided upon registration.

Create an orchid collage painting to celebrate the Atlanta Garden’s Orchid Daze exhibition. Work with acrylic paints as a base and build on all sorts of bits and pieces from old books to magazines and even the unexpected medium. Create a display of them through collage in this two-day workshop.

Landscape Painting with Palette Knife

Discover how to use the camera you have – no matter how fancy or simple it is.

Learn how exposure works and understand aperture, shutter speed and ISO. Spend two hours in the classroom and one hour in the Garden shooting photos (emphasis on spring bulbs, including tulips). Bring the camera you have, including cell phones.

This two-hour fun class each day will focus on how to use a palette knife with acrylic paint.

Orchids for Beginners II Oncidium, Dendrobium and Cattleya orchids are adapted to climates with intermittent rainfall and have evolved specialized organs to store water. These plants require higher light levels than are found in typical homes. This class examines the cultural requirements of this group of orchids and their adaptation to the home environment.
