Ball Fields and Courts The City of Atlanta has various ball fields throughout the city to reserve for league play or to play a pick-up game. Below are the fees along with the complete listing of fields.

RANDOM SELECTION PROCESS Ball field reservations are released in seasonal increments. These seasons are released on-line on a first come, first serve basis at 12:00 noon on the dates listed below. During this 24 hour selection period, all ball field reservations must be made online, and cannot be refunded or exchanged for a credit except due to rainout or a similar situation rendering the field unusable.

Room Reservations Recreation Center and Natatorium Reservations are available to the public for meetings, reunions, trainings, and other special events. Reservations can be made through our Central Reservations Office or at the Center where you wish to make a Reservation.

A refundable $100 security deposit is required with each Reservation.

Event(s) with Admission Fee Vending Package: $750 Our event package applies to the reservation of both auditoriums at either Adamsville or Rosel Fann for events that charge admission or offer vending on site. The organization collecting admission or vending is expected to pay an additional fee equal to 20% of the revenue collected from the event or $500, whichever is greater.

Permits and Permissions Filming in a City of Atlanta Park Filming in a City of Atlanta Park requires permission from The Mayor’s Office of Entertainment. Please contact the Office of Entertainment at atlfilm@atlantaga.gov or at 404-330-6006.

Large Gathering in a Park/Greenspace A permit is required for any planned park gatherings lasting one hour or more with an anticipated attendance of 75 or more people. A Large Gathering application is not necessary if you are reserving only a pavilion, gazebo or ballfield.

Please be aware that a Large Gathering Permit does not grant permission to vend in a park, erect a tent greater than 10'x10', stage or moonwalk, or use alcohol. The permit fee is $50 (nonrefundable). City park users requesting a permit to utilize specific areas of park greenspace shall be required to pay a permit fee of $50.

Outdoor Wedding in a Park This permit is used when an outdoor wedding occurs inside a city park, in a location other than in a picnic pavilion, and where the wedding includes set-up or requires city services outside of normal scheduled maintenance. The permit fee is $50 (non-refundable).

Special Use This permit is necessary if you plan to have generators (additional permit and fees also required from Office of Buildings), amplified sound, tents larger than 10'x10' and/or portable restrooms at your event. The permit fee is $50 (nonrefundable).

Fees are payable by money order, certified check, personal check or major credit card. Cash is not accepted. The Department of Parks and Recreation reserves the right to refuse to issue any permit for an unauthorized use, and may revoke an issued permit at any time for an unauthorized use or violation of park rules, regulations, or city ordinances.

Reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and are accepted no earlier than 90 days (holidays and weekends included) prior to the event; 30 (holidays and weekends included) days if using portable toilets, amplified sound, tents and/or generators, and no later than 14 days (holidays and weekends included) prior to your event date if your event doesn’t require portable toilets, amplified sound, tents and/or generators. For additional information about organizing an event on park property, please contact the Reservations Office at 404-546-6757, press 0 to speak with a live operator or e-mail at parksreservationist@atlantaga.gov Park Attendant City park users who reserve pavilions or have large gatherings in a park that require vehicular access must use a park attendant at the rate of $10.50 per hour (minimum four hours). This will allow vehicles to unload and load only. Parking vehicles inside the park is not allowed per Atlanta City Code Sec. 110-3.

Park attendants are available on a first come, first served basis based on availability and must be booked no later than 14 days in advance (holidays and weekends included). Park attendants are highly recommended at the following parks otherwise there is no vehicle access close to the pavilion: Grant Park*, Piedmont Park, Perkerson Park, Mozley Park, Maddox Park, and Tanyard Creek. *Vehicles are prohibited from driving directly to the pavilion.

Private Business in a Park This permit is used for individuals or organizations wishing to utilize a City of Atlanta park for private business purposes.

The private business may not operate in a park unless and until the application is granted and a permit is issued. A Private Business in a Park Permit does not grant permission to vend (no monies to be exchanged) in a park, erect a tent, stage, or moonwalk, or possess alcohol. No advertising/ marketing or staking of any kind is allowed in the park. A separate application must be submitted for each park that the business wishes to use. A valid business license and a $1 million insurance policy naming the City of Atlanta as an additional insurer is required. The permit fee is $1500 per park per year (nonrefundable).

Academic Enrichment During the academic hour, children will be assisted by a certified teacher along with recreation staff to complete homework assignments, participate in daily reading, as well as web-based math tutorial programs. Recreation staff work with a leading academic software provider for standard-based assessment, instruction, test preparation, and e-learning math programs to track our participant’s progress throughout the after school program. In addition youth are provided various cultural enrichment experiences from experts in the fields of art, drama, music, dance, martial arts, and more.

Technology Centers are equipped with technology to provide participants with access to computers and internet to complete research needed for homework and school projects. Students will use leading academic, standard-based assessment software programs to aid with core math and reading comprehension areas.

Youth Fitness & Health Recreation leaders will expose participants to a variety of physical fitness activities to engage and strengthen the body, address how to make healthy choices in nutrition, and teach them about non-traditional sports and careers in recreation to combat childhood obesity. General recreation is offered at all our centers; ranging from casual active play to organized athletics (additional fees, see athletics section). Some centers offer basic instructional swim classes. Multiple partnerships with leading agencies in the sports and fitness fields bring a variety of programs such as dance, martial arts, gymnastics, and tennis.

Character Development and Training Centers offer community service and character building programs and activities that allow youth to become civically involved in their communities and promote understanding of good citizenship in their neighborhoods.

Culture Club The Culture Club provides cultural experiences and academic enrichment for children between 5 and 12 years old that contribute to the growth and achievement of each individual.

Each Culture Club participant receives a healthy light snack, dinner and homework assistance from the After-School AllStars. Local professional artists or arts organizations such as the Atlanta Music Project and Dance Canvas lead classes in performing arts, visual arts, string and wind instruments and choral instruction.

Young ladies, ages 5 - 17, will develop their physical and mental abilities in basketball, volleyball, and kick ball through training and competitive games. Aquatics Aquatics Regular swimming can improve physical health by building endurance, muscle strength and cardio-vascular fitness. It can serve as a cross-training element to regular workouts and can improve overall self-discipline, goal-setting, and create an increased sense of self-worth through regular exercise.

Aquatic Centers provide residents and non-residents with an opportunity to participate in regular swimming programs, private lessons, and Drop-ins. Registration is available at each center for all Aquatics Programs.

Water Aerobics Aerobic excercise is practiced in the shallow end of our indoor pools. Aqua aerobics supports the body and reduces the risk of muscle or joint injury. This package includes 12 uses for Aqua Aerobics lessons and is valid for 6 months.

Students may select from either wheel or handbuilding classes for all skill levels.

Chastain offers the following firing options: high fire in a gas fired reduction kiln, Cone 6 and low fire oxidation, raku and experimental techniques such as Saggar and Salt firing.

PLEASE NOTE: • Pottery and hand building students will be issued one bag of clay the first day of class. If clay is not claimed during the current semester, it cannot be claimed during a later semester.

• Students are responsible for purchasing tools for ceramics.

• Only clay purchased through the center and glazes provided by the center will be fired.

• A $15 materials fee is included in the class fee for consumable supplies provided by the center.

HANDBUILDING / SCULPTURE Handbuilding/Sculpture classes focus on the sculptural aspects of clay construction without the use of a potter’s wheel.

Students will learn a variety of techniques including coil, pinch, and slab building as well as glazing and alternative forms of surface decoration. Please bring pottery tools to use in class.

Handbuilding Joanna Wilson Mon. 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. 9/11-11/6 Fee: $230 Class ID: 1.014.301.11 This handbuilding class will focus on the creation of clay forms without the use of a potter’s wheel. Students may learn a variety of techniques including coil, pinch, and slab building as well as glazing and many other forms of surface decoration.

This class is appropriate for all levels. The teacher modifies projects for each individual as necessary.

Students may choose to work with suggested projects or may prefer to develop their ideas individually.

Figurative Sculpture I Michael Klapthor Tue. 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.

9/5-11/7 Fee: $255 Class ID: 1.014.301.12 This class will Introduce students to the art of figure sculpting through a variety of forms. Early projects in the class will focus on details of our figures like faces and hands as we learn about basic structure and anatomy. Later projects will combine these details into full figure sculptures.

Projects will all be guided by the instructor but individual styles are also highly encouraged. No previous sculpting experience necessary.

Through exposure to many different techniques of constructing figurative sculpture, students can expect to create pieces that display a broad range of emotional content and design.

Individual styles will be encouraged as we focus on the story-telling qualities of our figures. Some previous figurative sculpting experience is necessary.

Discovering Jewelry and Metals Debra Lynn Gold 7 Weeks Wed. 1:30 p.m.–4:30 p.m.

9/6-11/8 Fee: $200 Class ID: 1.034.301.03 This is a no-fear class for first time students.

Learn the basic properties of metal and metalworking through guided exercises.

We will learn forging, fabrication, soldering, piercing, inlay, roll printing, polishing, and more. Join the fun. Debra brings over 40 years of teaching experience to this course.

Open Studio Clay 9/11-11/9 Fee: $155 Class ID: 1.014.301.16 Open studio is for previous Chastain Arts Center students who will work independently. Registration must be approved by the Ceramics Director.

Students may work when space is available and no class is meeting. Fee for open studio does NOT include any clay. Open studio begins the second week of the session. Times will be posted in the pottery and handbuilding studios .

Enameling Louella Simpson Wed. 11:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.

9/6-11/8 Fee: $200 Class ID: 1.034.301.04 This small, personalized class includes basic instruction in enameling. New and old techniques using watercolor, bull’s-eye glass, copper, silver, and other items to create paintings on metal and one-ofa-kind jewelry designs are explored. A materials fee of approximately $20 will be collected from each student at the first class meeting.

JEWELRY/METALSMITHING

A lab fee of $5 is included in the class fee for consumable supplies provided by the Center.

Topics will include: design/ layout, cutting/sawing/piercing, soldering, bezel stone setting, and finishing. Tools are available but we encourage students to acquire their own basic tool kits. Come to first class with drawing notebook and mechanical pencil. Silver is available for purchase from the instructor. A materials fee of approximately $10 will be collected from each student the first class meeting.

FRAME MAKING

Every home needs frames for family photos, artwork, keepsakes, even mirrors, and frames can be expensive. Save a small fortune and learn a new skill in a frame making class. A $10 materials fee is included in the class fee for studio supplies provided by the Center. Open studio is not included with class enrollment, but is available for an additional fee of $40 for the session.

Beginning Picture Framing Alan Vaughn Tue. 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.

9/5-11/7 Fee: $205 Class ID: 1.064.301.01 Photos, prints, objects, or canvases.

This class starts with you and whatever you want to frame. Photos, prints, objects, canvases, whatever it is, we can frame it. How to design, what and where to get supplies, frame construction, matting, shadow boxes, museum framing and more will be our topics. Individual attention to your project will be how we proceed. Redecorate. Have some fun.

MOVEMENT ARTS

Yoga for the Artist Irene Yang 9 Weeks Mon. 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. 9/11-11/6 Fee: $100 Class ID: 1.134.301.01 This class offers Hatha Yoga to help students become more balanced, both physically and mentally. This class will be gentle and basic, facilitating students in releasing tension in the neck, shoulder, upper back, lower back, wrists and hands.

While particularly helpful to artists, this class and its benefits are open to all who wish to enroll. Students are not required to have previous yoga experience or to be flexible in order to participate in this class.

Students are asked to bring a yoga mat, straps, blocks and a yoga blanket to class every week.

You can register online (www.atlantaga.gov/iparcs) or in person. Atlanta Parks and Rec accepts major credit cards, checks, and money orders. We cannot accept cash. Personal checks cannot be accepted within 2 weeks of the start of programming or date of reservation.

PLEASE NOTE: All classes require sufficient enrollment to convene.

Atlanta Parks and Rec reserves the right to cancel, reschedule or combine classes, to change instructors, fees and/or classroom assignments when necessary.

Students will be notified by the e-mail or phone number provided at the time of registration. Full refunds will be issued for cancelled classes.

Atlanta Parks and Rec is not responsible for classes missed due to student absence. Please discuss an unavoidable absence with your Community Facility Manager. If a refund is granted and the original form of payment was by check or money order, the refund may take 4-6 weeks to be issued. Refunds will be sent to the address on record or credited to the credit card used in the initial transaction. Any online conv nience fee incurred is nonrefundable.

REFUND POLICY: To withdraw from an Activity or Program: Students must notify the Community Facility Manager in writing (preferably by e-mail) at least 3 business days before the first class meeting in order to receive a refund.

To withdraw from a Membership: Membership holders must notify the Community Facility Manager in writing (preferably by e-mail) within 30 days of purchase in order to receive a refund. Refunds may be subject to proration.

To cancel a Reservation: All cancellations must be made in writing (preferably by e-mail) to the Reservations Office or Community Facility Manager where the reservation was made no less than thirty (30) days prior to the scheduled event in order to receive a refund. Changes to a reservation are allowed as long as they are made no less than thirty (30) days prior to the scheduled event. No refunds will be issued due to inclement weather.
