The Fulton County Library System is pleased to provide outreach programs for youth, adults, seniors, and entrepreneurs. Our outreach team is available to conduct programs throughout Fulton County and the City of Atlanta.

We visit schools, daycares, senior centers, neighborhood association meetings, business association meetings, and community events.

The library offers storytime programs, S.T.E.A.M. programs for kids, maker programs for adults, tech workshops for startups, voter registration, and library card drives.

We also teach entrepreneurship workshops to show businesses how to utilize consumer data, legal forms, and business forms available with a library card.

The Outreach Team can bring virtual reality gaming, a laser cutter, 3D printer, 3D pens, and other maker equipment to your location.

We can teach library resource tutorials to show patrons how to access free tutors, test prep, online classes, legal forms, streaming movies, music, and audiobooks.

The Outreach Team is also placing PopUp Library Book Crates in businesses and community centers throughout Fulton County. You do not need a library card or to check the item out of the Pop-Up Library Book Crate. The book crates function on the honor system, similar to a Little Free Library.

A library can be a powerful telescope. It offers a glimpse of the past and the future, while remaining firmly planted in the present. The library’s objective presence in a community often gets overlooked.

web redesign, we are also revamping our catalog. Our goal is to develop a more interactive solution for patrons to engage with our content, whether it is books, movies, music, programs or databases.

We spend a lot of time in public libraries talking about books and programs and learning. What we don’t talk about enough is that for many people, a library is also a wayfinder.

It provides a safe tether for exploring new (and old) ideas.

Like I said, the library is a powerful telescope. Come discover us in your own way...

Fulton County libraries offer help and assistance to more than one million people every month. Seventy percent of those interactions take place online. That’s a fascinating revelation – and one we cannot ignore. If the library is to remain relevant in an increasingly digital world, we absolutely must re-focus our telescope. The library’s objective presence in our online community is just as critical, if not more so, for individuals trying to navigate an uncertain and unforgiving digital landscape.

In 2019, we plan to amplify our online beacon in two ways.

First, not only are we modernizing and upgrading all our physical library buildings but we are also redesigning our website to create a more user-friendly and intuitive experience. Libraries stand for removing barriers to access – physically and digitally. Second, in conjunction with the

25 Years of Free Tax Preparations

Tax preparation may strike fear and frustration for some, but volunteers dedicate one to two weeks every January to train on the new tax codes in order to provide free tax preparations across Georgia. The Internal Revenue Service is accepting 2018 returns from January 28 through April 15 and this year seven of our libraries hosted volunteers to assist with tax preparations.

Fulton County Library System is celebrating Free Comic Book Day and YOU’RE INVITED!

The Library System is proud to recognize partnerships with the AARP Foundation and the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. They have provided over 325 trained volunteers who served over 52,000 volunteer hours at the library for the last 25 years. This includes serving patrons at Adams Park, Adamsville-Collier Heights, Bowen Homes, Buckhead, Central, Cleveland Avenue, Dogwood, East Atlanta, East Point, East Roswell, Kirkwood, Martin Luther King, Jr., Mechanicsville, Milton, Northeast/Spruill Oaks, Ocee, Roswell, Sandy Springs, South Fulton, Southwest, Stewart/Lakewood, Washington Park, West End and Wolf Creek.

AARP volunteers have helped more than 68 million low to moderate income taxpayers around the United States.

VITA offers free tax help to patrons with an annual income of $55,000 or less and taxpayers with disabilities. These IRS-certified volunteers are committed, knowledgeable, patient and meet on a first come first serve basis to provide free basic income tax return preparations in our meeting rooms several days a week throughout tax season. These volunteers will be recognized at our annual volunteer recognition programs in April. Please research AARP or VITA for more information about their requirements.

Free Comic Book Day takes place every year on the first Saturday in May. Each year, comic book stores and libraries celebrate their love of comics by giving them away ‌ FOR FREE! Children ages 5-12 can stop by the library any Fulton County Library on Saturday, May 4 to receive their free comic book. Want even more comics? Check them out with your library card. Please note: one free comic book per child, while supplies last.
