2022
e went into 2022 with many unknowns. Inflation was at a historic high, supply shortages were impacting almost all product segments, and employees were difficult to find. We had just come off a record year, due in large part to extraordinary demand and problems our competitors were having in dealing with the raw material crisis. As 2022 ended, we saw stabilization in our supply issues as well as inflation. Our stores were also very close to operating with a full complement of employees. The last 3 years have been challenging in many ways. Each year was unique from any in the 37-year history of Spectrum Paint Company. Fortunately, these have also been very successful years for Spectrum Paint Company due entirely to the strength of our people. Opportunities always exist in a crisis for those who step up and overcome the challenges.
I am confident in our future as we go into 2023. Although we are witnessing a slowdown in new home construction, due in part to increasing mortgage rates, our sales teams are always looking at other ways to diversify and find new customers to fuel our growth. It has always been our yearly goal to increase our market share and never accept mediocrity. We started 2023 having achieved the milestone of opening our 100th store, however, 100 was never a goal to reach or a mountain where we could rest our laurels. Our goal is to continue growing and to be the best paint supplier in every market we compete.
