Kayaking is one of those activities that is physically great for you without even knowing it. This watersport is for people of all ages. It’s great for fishing, touring, and getting a physical workout. Great for upper body strength, core strength, and cardiovascular health, kayaking benefits mood and focus. Not only that, you can bet that you will have a good night’s sleep after kayaking all day. In this issue, we decided to put our focus on Anclote Key, and the Anclote River. Anclote Key is just three miles off the coast of Tarpon Springs. It is an island lover’s paradise at Anclote Key State Park. The park is only accessible by ferry or private boat. With all the wildlife here you can see many birds like eagles and ospreys searching the water for fish. Kayaking around these islands is popular to see an abundance of other types of birds and fish. Sheepshead, redfish, and seatrout can often be found in the seagrass beds just offshore of the islands. You also can camp on Anclote Key but remember to bring drinking water since there is none available on the island. Picnic tables, grills, and pavilions are available for that summer BBQ when you need to get out of the sun.

Sarasota is vibrant with its growing attributes for entertainment, the arts and shopping. Last issue we gave you some insight into the history of St. Armands Circle. Although this is a number one choice for most tourists, another spot to visit is the downtown area of Sarasota. Here you will find multiple corporate companies, such as Morgan Stanley, Raymond James, Chase Bank and Baird homes. Condominiums are abundant so if you are seeking a place to downsize within walking distance of restaurants and shops, downtown could be enticing.
