Largemouth bass are one of the most popular game fish in North America. These bass are abundant in the many lakes and waterways here inside the Gulf Shore area. Bass fishing is a sensational sport here in the Sunshine State. Hundreds of lakes produce huge quantities of bass. Because of this accomplishment, Florida has earned the title of one of the best places for bass fishing. The state record for a Largemouth Bass is 17.27 lbs!*

In Lake Tarpon, you will find some of the largest bass in the region. Located about 10 miles west of Tampa,

Lake Tarpon is in Tarpon Springs. This huge lake covers 2,500 acres and peaks to reach almost nine miles long. Because Lake Tarpon is recognized for its trophy-size bass, it also has other native fish to mention such as catfish, crappie, bluegill, blue tilapia, and sunfish. Because of its location, Lake Tarpon hosts numerous bass tournaments.

A little further north is the Harris Chain of Lakes. These lakes have a lot of bass and here you will also find bluegills, large shad, and golden shiners. These nine lakes host several bass tournaments and a lot of smaller fishing tournaments.
