For over twenty years, Alain Ellouz has delved into the sensitive depths of alabaster, this unique, luminous, and vibrant stone that captivated him from the very beginning. Sculptor before designer, he approaches the material with an instinctive and demanding touch, shaped by his travels through quarries and a deep connection to nature. His ambition: to elevate alabaster to the status of a noble material by revealing its gentle radiance, silent density, and emotional power.
Every creation emerges from an intimate dialogue with the stone. To choose, cut, and sculpt is to express both the patience of the artisan and the precision of the sculptor. Grounded in reality yet always striving for the essential, his work seeks the essence of form, of light made flesh. Through his collections, he invites us to witness purity and material truth, offering a deeply sensory experience where the mineral becomes emotion.
An internationally acclaimed Paris-based architect, Ana Moussinet is known for her mastery of luxury hospitality codes and her talent for crafting immersive, emotionally charged spaces. Each project becomes a complete experience, a refined interplay between art, space, and feeling, where function gently gives way to sensation.
True to a modern reinterpretation of French elegance, she has a deep appreciation for noble materials and impeccable detailing. Balancing creative intuition with technical precision, she composes interiors like living narratives and designs furniture and lighting with an author’s touch.
Some collaborations arise naturally, as if destined. The union between Alain Ellouz, master of mineral light, and Ana Moussinet, an interior architect with refined and intuitive aesthetics, is one such rarity.
Though distinct, their worlds converge in a shared pursuit of emotional clarity, balance, and timelessness. Alain shapes light through stone, transcending material into sensory experience. Ana composes space like music, guided by harmony and nuance, attentively orchestrating textures, lines, and illumination.
From Ana’s earliest sketches, a powerful chemistry emerged. UMAMI took shape as a sculptural and delicate collection, inspired by the Japanese concept of Shun, the perfect moment when nature reaches its peak expression. The project unfolded as a fluid, sensitive dialogue, grounded in a shared vision: to create pieces that are both structured and resonant, at the crossroads of art, architecture, and intuition.
Umami is not just a collection, it is the expression of a dual language, of a material that breathes, of light that stirs the soul.
Umami is not a taste, nor a form of light. It is a sixth sense, beyond perception. Deeper, transcending the boundaries of the visible, the tangible, and the harmonious. Umami isn’t conceived, it is felt. Quietly instinctive, meditative in essence, this collection asserts itself with gentle certainty.
Like the works of Brancusi, Noguchi, or Matisse, whose purity of form and inner balance speak to the soul, Umami expresses a universal language, a link between material and intuition, breath and presence. It doesn’t aim to seduce, it resonates. It simply exists. A living light, in tune with all the senses.
