DESCRIPTION HIKING HOLIDAY WITH THERMAL HOTSPRINGS

Come and explore the Green Island of São Miguel on this week-long hiking holiday. Let us take you to the most unique loca�ons on the island, where we will hike up mountains, walk on volcanic craters, explore forest trails, follow along streams and reach beau�ful waterfalls. Enjoy the sea breeze during a coastal hike and go back in �me by following ancient trails.

This holiday in the Azores includes 5 ac�vi�es led by our experienced and friendly guides.

In addi�on to 3 picnic lunches on the full day hikes, there will also be one Welcome Lunch and a Farewell Dinner.

This Hiking Holiday has fixed dates.

DAY2 HIKE

MOINHO DO FÉLIX (WATERFALLS TRAIL)

The ac�vity begins with a guided visit to the Gorreana Tea Planta�on and Factory, which is currently the oldest in produc�on in Europe. Enjoy a cup of the local tea!

We will then discover one of the most beau�ful trails on the north coast of the island: Moinho do Felix. This 5,5 km long circular hike will take us on a 2-hour-long journey through a valley with a dense Japanese Cedar forest, passing by magical waterfalls and ruins of historic water mills that will give you a sense of Azorean life in the past--be sure to pack your bathing suit, as you will be able to swim in some of the pools created by the waterfalls!

Following on from this experience, we will visit the Ribeira dos Caldeirões Natural Park, where you can enjoy our waterfalls and a visit to the Santa Iria viewpoint. Get to know the other travelers during the Welcome Lunch at a local restaurant.

HIKE SETE CIDADES & HOT BATH AT FERRARIA

We will be hiking the trail of Serra Devassa - a circular route through a protected area covering a distance of around 7 km. This trail is an easy/medium level of difficulty and lasts around 2.5 hours.

Then, enjoy a picnic lunch and have fun with ac�vi�es available at the shore, like kayak ing, stand-up paddle or e-bike ride. End the day with a swim at the hot waters of Ferrar ia.

DAY WHALE WATCHING

Whale Watching

Take a boat ride out to sea and keep your eyes open for the different whale species that pass through our waters.

If you’re lucky, you might spot whale cubs too, as the Azores is known to be the perfect haven for whales to have their young.

You never know what you’re going to see when you’re out on the water, but with a knowledgeable and sharp-eyed marine biologist on board you will surely get the most out of this wild experience.

DAY HIKE LAGOA DO FOGO 5

This hike up to one of the most picturesque views on the island is an absolute must--with certainty one of the most beau�ful hikes across the Azores: Lagoa do Fogo (Fire Lake).

On this moderately difficult 12 km circular hike up to Lagoa do Fogo, you will witness stunning views of the south coast, including the Vila Franca do Campo islet, and discover the various endemic plant species along the steep and winding trail, such as the Azorean blueberry, juniper, and one of the last remaining laurisilva cloud forests.

Maybe spend the day at a nearby beach and have a lovely lunch by the sea or stroll through the streets of the city and buy some souvenirs to take home with you. For more fun, we suggest our Ocean Kayaking tour: Grab a paddle and embark on an unforge�able journey to the emblema�c Vila Franca do Campo Islet.

You will venture out into the Atlan�c Ocean with our local nature guide, kayaking towards the islet — located about 1 km off the south coast of São Miguel — exploring its hidden caves and swim in the crystal-clear waters of the circular crater lagoon before paddling back.

DAY SANGUINHO HIKE +FURNAS

This 4,5 km long hike of medium difficulty will take you on an approximately 2 hours long journey through one of the geologically oldest and historically most isolated regions in the south-west of the island, where you will traverse dense forests of acacia and picturesque valleys with rivers flowing directly into the Atlan�c Ocean. Part of the 1 million-year-old Povoação Volcanic Complex, the Sanguinho trail is famous for its awe-inspiring Salto do Prego waterfall and abundant vegeta�on, par�cularly the endemic Azorean Buckthorn, to which the trail owes its name.

Following the hike, you will visit the nearby village of Furnas, which has a�ained global fame for its volcanic ac�vity, boas�ng numerous geysers, as well as various hot springs and naturally sparkling water flowing directly out of the ground – all of which are said to possess different healing proper�es!

End the day with a relaxing visit to the botanical garden and a hot bath at a natural thermal pool.

For our Farewell Dinner, we'll taste the famous Cozido das Furnas, a local dish with a variety of meats and vegetables, cooked underneath the ground by the volcanic vapors.

2. Hotel – Hotel Casa Hintze Ribeiro

Hotel Casa Hintze Ribeiro is located in the historic center of Ponta Delgada and celebrates Azorean tradi�on and culture. Named a�er poli�cian Hintze Ribeiro (who was born on the same street), it includes poems by regional authors Antero de Quental and Natália Correia. Its design mirrors the Azorean scenery (rich greenery) and incorporates the islands' iconic colors (blue and white) along with classic �les. It provides a dis�nc�ve, tailored Azorean experience.

Its prime loca�on in the historic center offers easy access to landmarks, shops, and restaurants, providing an authen�c immersion in local life. Furthermore, ameni�es like an outdoor pool, spa, gym, and parking (upon reserva�on) enhance the experience, making it ideal for those seeking a unique and personalized Azorean getaway.

Single supplement - 470€ (October 2025), 292€ (November 2025 + March 2026). Spring and Fall in the Azores offer pleasant hiking with mild temperatures and fewer crowds. Be prepared for rain and poten�ally slippery trails, packing appropriate gear. Check the forecast and trail condi�ons before heading out. Overall, they're great seasons for hiking, with vibrant landscapes and more tranquility.

Alcides Restaurant

Located in front of the Hintze Hotel, is a renowned culinary des�na�on celebrated for its excep�onal Portuguese cuisine and warm hospitality. Specializing in tradi�onal dishes, the restaurant is par�cularly famous for its perfectly cooked steaks, which are a must-try for visitors. With a cozy and invi�ng atmosphere, Alcides combines a rich culinary heritage with a�en�ve service, making it an ideal spot for both casual dining and special occasions.

A Tasca Restaurant

A popular restaurant located in R. do Aljube, 16. Known for its tradi�onal Portuguese cuisine, it offers a variety of pe�scos (Portuguese tapas) and regional dishes, including fresh seafood and local special�es. The restaurant's cozy atmosphere and rus�c decor, featuring wooden tables and a generous wine selec�on, contribute to its authen�c tavern-like experience.

A Tasca is highly regarded by both locals and tourists for its delicious food and friendly service. It's important to note that the restaurant does not accept reserva�ons, so it's advisable to arrive early to secure a table.

Taberna Açor Restaurant

Located at Rua dos Mercadores, 41 is a charming restaurant celebrated for its tradi�onal Portuguese cuisine and innova�ve dishes. Specializing in pe�scos (small plates), it is par�cularly renowned for its award-winning "polvo na telha de barro" (octopus served on a clay �le), which received a gold medal at the 3rd Na�onal Tradi�onal Portuguese Cuisine Compe��on. With a cozy, rus�c ambiance reminiscent of classic taverns, Taberna Açor offers a warm and invi�ng atmosphere.

Located at Rua António José d'Almeida 8, is a contemporary bistro and bar that combines a rich history with modern culinary offerings. Originally established in 1904 as a shop specializing in French-imported hats and fabrics, it has evolved into a vibrant establishment known for its selec�on of pastries, coffee, and regional products.

The venue offers a diverse menu featuring finger foods, desserts, wines, and cocktails, all presented with a�en�on to detail. While some patrons find the prices on the higher side, the quality and presenta�on of the food are o�en praised.

The interior boasts a charming ambiance, blending vintage elements with contemporary design, making it an ideal spot for both locals and tourists seeking a unique dining experience in Ponta Delgada.
