Mission, Vision and Values

Our Mission, Vision and Values guide everything we do at Ascension. They are foundational to our work to transform healthcare and express our priorities when providing care and services, particularly to those most in need.

Mission

Rooted in the loving ministry of Jesus as healer, we commit ourselves to serving all persons with special attention to those who are poor and vulnerable. Our Catholic health ministry is dedicated to spiritually-centered, holistic care which sustains and improves the health of individuals and communities. We are advocates for a compassionate and just society through our actions and our words.

Vision

We envision a strong, vibrant Catholic health ministry in the United States which will lead to the transformation of healthcare. We will ensure service that is committed to health and well-being for our communities and that responds to the needs of individuals throughout the life cycle. We will expand the role of laity, in both leadership and sponsorship, to ensure a Catholic health ministry of the future.

This has been a year of incredible growth at the Ascension St Vincent Foundation All year long, thousands of patients, families and associates at Ascension St Vincent and Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital were directly impacted by your dedication and generosity–thank you!

Your donations have helped us enhance care for all patients, including those who are underserved and vulnerable. Whether providing supplies to the Child Life team for our youngest patients, care and hygiene kits for out-of-town families staying at the Ascension St Vincent House, continued education opportunities for nurses and staff, or any of the many other items highlighted in this report, your gifts improved and saved lives.

The philanthropic investment of our donors and friends like you has made Ascension St. Vincent and Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital what it is today, allowing us to deliver advanced care for even the most severe injuries as a Level I trauma center This same support will continue to propel us in the future as we expand to be a regional destination for comprehensive and complex care

Louie found comfort through child life

Louie was 18-months old when he visited Dr. Miyamoto to have tubes put in his ears. Louie was nervous, but found comfort with Alycia, a Child Life Specialist at Peyton Manning Children's Hospital. The work of Child Life Specialists help families, patients, and care teams by creating positive experiences during difficult times and is supported by generous donations to the Foundation.

"The whole OR team was wonderful, but Alycia especially put us at ease and made the transition back to the operating room so smooth. Louie was able to ride in one of the push cars, and she had already developed rapport with him, so while his nurse was pushing him in the car she engaged him with bubbles."

Violet conquered cancer

In 2020, we celebrated Violet during the Celebration of Caring Gala when she received the True Hero Award. In 2021, we celebrated Violet again as she ended her treatment with her family and care team alongside! Violet has bravely fought since she was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2019.

The Child Life and Healing Arts team created a meaningful event that celebrated Violet and all of her favorite things. Violet, lover of all things anime and dogs had a special 4legged guest with her during her celebration thanks to the pet therapy program.

Educated 10,631 learners through 45,600 hours of training at the William K. Nasser, MD, Healthcare Education and Simulation Center

Provided care to those who are under and uninsured by offering mammograms to 1,045 individuals through the mobile mammogram unit

Hosted 3,019 families at the Ascension St. Vincent House when they needed a place to stay while their loved one was in the hospital

Awarded $230,000 in Nursing Scholarships to 31 associates to help further nursing careers

Touched the lives of 4,298 patients, family and staff members through pet therapy

Offered more than 1,000+ hours of schooling for

Participated in groundbreaking cardiovascular research; Dr. Heimansohn was the first in the world to successfully perform a procedure testing a new type of mitral valve

Provided Child Life services to 9,337 patients

Hosted over 140 virtual classes with 1,000+ attendees through the art therapy program
