ASU Prep’s AI team, in collaboration with ASU EdPlus, integrated Google’s Gemini and GPT-4 with open-source math engines, combining AI personalization with instructional accuracy to maximize learning.
How it works:
Real-time feedback
Archie guides students step-by-step, preventing errors from becoming ingrained misconceptions.
Handwriting recognition
Optical Character Recognition (OCR) allows students to write naturally while AI interprets their work.
Impact & results:

Adaptive hint engine
Instead of giving answers, Archie provides targeted hints to trigger prior learning and to deepen understanding.
Progress tracking Students and educators monitor progress to identify trouble spots and adjust instruction.
93.42% accuracy across modules ensures reliable AI-generated support. 80% of students reported an improved understanding of math concepts.
412 unique hints were generated in a beta test, demonstrating dynamic, responsive tutoring. Reduced math anxiety and increased confidence in problem-solving.
With ongoing research in Algebra 1 using 43 benchmark metrics, ASU Prep will continue refining Digit’s AI model to enhance learning outcomes and provide even greater support for students.

For Dallas Salas , those challenges were compounded by unimaginable obstacles—experiencing homelessness, having an incarcerated parent and battling leukemia as a child. But through perseverance and the flexibility of ASU Prep Digital, Dallas turned adversity into achievement.
With the ability to learn from anywhere, Dallas took ASU courses while completing high school, accelerating his education despite difficult circumstances. In December 2023, he graduated from ASU with a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience at age 18. His story is a testament to resilience and to the fact that no dream is out of reach if we provide the right support and opportunities.
“I saw him grow, and we’d talk through strategies, discuss what worked for him and what didn’t,” Digital Learning Success coach Kristen Rund said. “His strength is really his intrinsic motivation, being the best person academically that he can be.”

Miami Unified School District
Bringing 21st-century learning to a rural Arizona school
In Miami, Arizona, a historic mining town with deep community roots, students faced significant barriers to college and career readiness. With limited access to advanced coursework, industry-aligned learning and technology-driven instruction, students had fewer opportunities to develop the critical skills needed for success beyond high school.
The challenge was more than academics—it was about breaking systemic barriers in the community:
500 students in grades 7–12, with 75% qualifying for free and reduced lunch
75% of students living in homes with one parent or less 45% unemployment or underemployment rate

Building a future-focused learning experience
To bridge this gap, Miami Unified School District partnered with ASU Prep to create a transformational learning model that would equip teachers with the tools to personalize instruction, expose students to college-level coursework and connect them with career pathways beyond their rural setting.
To make this vision a reality, ASU Prep:
Provided free high school learning cloud courses , giving students access to rigorous, college-level coursework
Being part of ASU is a deal for these students.”

Sierra Vista Unified School District
Reengaging students and revitalizing enrollment in Sierra Vista
As rural school districts across the country face the twin challenges of declining enrollment and constrained resources, Arizona’s Sierra Vista Unified School District (SVUSD) was no exception. Declining enrollment and a growing homeschool population left the district searching for new ways to keep students engaged in public education. Families wanted flexibility and personalization, but SVUSD lacked a model that could meet those needs. The district’s financial health, tied directly to student enrollment, faced significant strain . Superintendent Dr. Eric Holmes and his team got creative to reverse the trend.
Times have changed. We need to provide different options and different models for our students based on their needs and based on what they would like to do. That is how public education stays fresh and current.”
Dr. Eric Holmes , Retired Superintendent Sierra Vista Unified School District

A hybrid model designed to meet students where they are
To expand opportunities and offer students flexible yet high-quality education, Sierra Vista Unified partnered with ASU Prep to introduce a hybrid microschool tailored to students in grades 7–12. Students complete coursework independently but attend in-person sessions for at least four hours weekly, where they can get additional support for academics, college applications and project work.
To make this vision a reality, ASU Prep:
Powered a hybrid microschool , offering students a blend of online courses with in-person academic support
Created flexible learning pathways , meeting students where they are with customized schedules and adaptive instruction

Tempe Tri-District
Three districts unite in the pursuit of progress
In Tempe, Arizona, three school districts—two elementary districts feeding into a single high school district—faced common challenges: declining enrollment, staffing shortages and the need for new approaches to learning . Investing in students, teachers and the future of Tempe

A strategic focus on Career and Technical Education (CTE)—one tailored to Ecuador’s unique job market and industry needs.

Laying the foundation for a future-ready workforce

Tippecanoe School Corporation
Students were leaving—we helped Tippecanoe bring them back
Like many small rural districts across the U.S., Indiana’s Tippecanoe School Corporation faced a growing challenge—declining enrollment and the need for more flexible learning options to retain students . Post-COVID, families were seeking online alternatives, and without a strong online learning option, students were leaving the district for outside programs.

Not a template: A custom-made
online school
designed for the district
To avoid losing students to external online schools, Tippecanoe partnered with ASU Prep Global to design and launch an innovative online learning program—built entirely from the ground up. This wasn’t just about adding digital courses; it was about building an adaptive learning ecosystem with early college exposure, career-ready credentials and student engagement opportunities built into it. Tippecanoe asked; we listened and worked closely with leaders so every aspect worked for their district, teachers and especially their students.
To make this vision a reality, ASU Prep:
Provided full-scale consulting and school modeling , helping the district shape its online program, define its audience and develop a strategy for success

With 100 students enrolled in its first year, Tippecanoe’s online school illustrates how rural districts can create competitive, engaging and future-ready learning solutions. While overall outcome data is still in development, the district is already seeing the impact of its investment in dynamic, flexible education.
By designing an online school tailored to student needs and community priorities, Tippecanoe is reimagining how rural schools can evolve to stay competitive.

Lab School of Memphis
Getting granular to make big changes for students in Memphis

Tennessee’s largest school district, Memphis-Shelby County Schools, faced a dropout crisis, with 18.1% of students leaving school early—more than double the state average. Traditional K–8 classrooms weren’t meeting the needs of every learner and struggled with student engagement. Educator and entrepreneur Coi Morefield set out to change that, but bringing her vision to life required expertise, resources and a strong support system.
Building a thriving microschool driven by real-world learning
Through the ASU Prep Microschool Fellowship, Morefield gained the tools, coaching and peer network needed to turn her ideas into a fully operational microschool. The fellowship provided expert guidance to help her build a community-centered school.
The Lab School of Memphis launched as a K–8 microschool, blending Waldorf, Montessori and unschooling approaches with a learner-driven curriculum.
Guides lead small-group, inquiry-based instruction that prioritizes curiosity and critical thinking
Students engage in Quests—five- to eight-week project-based challenges tackling real-world issues
Weekly outdoor learning focuses on agriculture, forestry and wildlife
Online courses powered by ASU Prep ensure academic rigor while students learn at their own pace
