Chi Omega's Olivia Sher and Alpha Chi Omega's McKenna Katzman. Their thesis title is Opioid Overdose Education, Knowledge, and Behavior Among First-Year Sorority and Fraternity Members at Arizona State

This study investigated what first-year students involved in NPC sororities and IFC fraternities at ASU know about opioids and how to react in the event of an opioid overdose to provide recommendations for ASU. They found that the fraternity and sorority members surveyed have an inadequate amount of knowledge about opioids and overdoses, but have less experiences with opioids and/or overdoses compared to non-Greek affiliated students at ASU. It is believed that with proper education and access to resources, students will decrease their risk of experiencing an overdose. This research provided the basis to argue for educational programs and resources being provided to students at ASU.

Alexis Devries

Alex DeVries in Alpha Delta Pi will defend her thesis on April 28th! The title of her thesis is "Women's Power and Influence Index"

Her group is creating a website that will score corporations, the government and civil society organization on their commitment to equity and inclusion

They aim to provide businesses with critical tools to call for policy reform and confront their contribution to systemic equality.

Their advice for students who will defend their thesis is "if you have't started your thesis, choose a topic that you're passionate about. Our topic has nothing to do with either of our majors, but we chose it because we wanted to spend the year working towards something that was important to us And if you're about to defend, practice, practice, practice!

Defending can be super intimidating, so the more you practice, the more comfortable you'll feel. Also, surround yourself with those you love! We were lucky enough to have our friends and families attend our defense and it made everything so much less stressful knowing we had our support system there."
