ASU prepares students to change the world —but first, we need to position them for success while they are here.
That’s why Educational Outreach and Student Services gives students the resources they need to get here, stay here and thrive here—and wherever they go next. Students need to find community, purpose and passion, all of which translates to greater academic achievement and a more fulfilling college experience.
“There are several layers to readiness,” says Vice President of Student Services Joanne Vogel, “from a students’ success before getting here, to connecting with families about the importance of long-term gain versus a shortterm job, to our own readiness to make sure any student we admit can be successful.”
Through Changing Futures®, we will enhance the impact of student services, ensuring that the ASU experience is accessible, valuable and life-changing for every student.

Student services creates an optimal environment for learning and provides support for all Sun Devils.

Our holistic approach to student services ensures that all students have academic, social and emotional support, and that we are ready to give all students a transformative experience — no matter their background or their goals.
When students find a strong community on campus, it can ease the college transition and help them stay the course when college gets tough. Student services offers something for every student: from Fraternity and Sorority Life, clubs, pre-professional groups, and faith-based community organizations to the GATE and Maroon and Gold Scholars initiatives for students with a variety of learning needs.

As stated in the ASU Charter, we define our success by who we include and how they succeed. Student services and the community-oriented programs we provide allow us to live up to these goals—ensuring everyone feels included and supported on their journey at ASU.

Every Sun Devil should leave ASU prepared to find success and make a difference. Graduation is just the beginning. Preparing students for career readiness and characterdriven leadership is a goal that EOSS takes very seriously.
Through programs like ASU Changemaker, we engage students in service, innovation and entrepreneurship. Changemaker is a student-driven initiative at ASU that empowers students to create solutions for global and local challenges. Serving as a resource hub, it supports students from idea inception to execution, fostering leadership, civic engagement, and social entrepreneurship. Future plans for Changemaker include expanding digital resources, increasing faculty and alumni engagement, and enhancing mentorship opportunities to further support student-led innovation and impact.
Programs like Changemaker inspire and enable students to leverage all ASU has to offer toward building meaningful careers, social capital and connections. By focusing on a student’s full journey and fostering their career aspirations as early as possible, we are preparing them for their own futures and cultivating a talented, dynamic workforce.

Changemaker is a community of like-minded students who are leading social change in our local and global community.

Emotional support and stability are vital to every student, especially those facing mental health struggles. At ASU, we strive to offer resources to counter the growing mental health epidemic that affects so many young people.
Aaron Krasnow, associate vice president/director of ASU Counseling Services, has done critical work with ASU students that has now extended to K-12 populations, better preparing faculty and students to identify students in distress. Our Open Call Open Chat provides immediate access to mental health support, and SafeTALK trainings are available to equip anyone 15 years or older to help prevent suicide. With expanded support, these initiatives have enormous potential to leverage education and technology to improve emotional health and wellbeing and save lives.
As the mental health crisis in our country grows in scope and complexity, we are committed to supporting our students and empowering their peer, faculty and staff support systems to do the same.

Support for Hillel at ASU will help fund a new building to provide a safe, welcoming space for events, student leadership and collaboration, benefiting our large Jewish student population and broader campus community. Endowing our flagship programs and executive director and rabbi positions will work alongside the new facility to support a sense of community and inclusion and encourage leadership, cultural exchange and engagement.
Student Accessibility and Inclusive Learning Services is ASU’s central resource for students with disabilities, helping students to achieve employment and independent living. We can strengthen our support for SAILS students through Changing Futures.
• The Growth Achievement, Transformation Enrichment program addresses the unique needs of students with disabilities by offering executive functioning development, social skills training and employment preparation. Through specialized courses, coaching, workshops, and peer mentoring, GATE fosters inclusion and provides critical support for transitioning to and succeeding at the university.
• Maroon and Gold Scholars will offer a Comprehensive Transition Program at ASU for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities by offering a certificate program focused on academic, career and independent living skills. Developed in partnership with the Sanford School in The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, this program would offer a tailored university experience and enhanced career prospects
• Technology/software supporting students with disabilities will elevate the work of Student Accessibility and Inclusive Learning Services to ensure that course materials are accessible to all students, particularly those with disabilities. With the evolving need for accessible technology, funding is required for software that enables content creation and efficient access for both faculty and students.
• A twenty-three-year tradition, Devils in Disguise is the largest student-led day of service at ASU. Occurring each year in spring, student organizations participate in this signature service project by hosting volunteer sites for their fellow Sun Devils.
Our multi-pronged approach to career and workforce development will create and expand career preparation opportunities from kindergarten through college.
• Expanding equitable access to experiential learning opportunities for undergraduate university students includes stipends for unpaid work, conference support for undergraduates, virtual experiential learning, immersive employer site visits and firstgeneration student programs. We also seek to offer internship management tools and employer training to promote best practices through partnerships with chambers of commerce.
• Networking and mentorship provide critical guidance and industry connections for students and alumni. This includes building alumniindustry networks, flash mentoring and initiatives to help first-generation students grow social capital. Future plans include efforts to connect K-12 students with alumni and industry partners to enhance early career exposure and engagement.
• The Luminosity Lab was founded in 2017 at the request of Arizona State University President, Dr. Michael Crow, and Dr. Sethuraman Panchanathan, then ASU’s Executive Vice President of Research and currently the Director of the National Science Foundation. They envisioned an interdisciplinary ‘skunkworks’ lab, powered by student-led innovation, embodying a new paradigm of college-based R&D dedicated to producing cuttingedge solutions for some of the world’s most intricate challenges. What began as a small assembly of 15 students quickly flourished into a dynamic community of over 100 contributors, spanning numerous academic backgrounds. They engage in tackling largescale projects across sectors like healthcare, education, energy, and sustainability.
• Changemaker provides a dynamic space for students to address global challenges, encouraging idea development from inception to execution. Changemaker aims to enhance student engagement and lifelong learning. By empowering students to pursue their passions and innovate solutions together, Changemaker advances the vision of creating brighter, future-focused opportunities for all.
Scholarship funds will support student success before and during their ASU experience. By expanding financial support for Fraternity and Sorority Life, ASU Prep Digital students, summer programs and microschools, we can help more students prepare for college and make the most of it. We also aim to increase funding for micro scholarships for foster youth and first-generation students, to help cover incidentals and housing during university transitions.

Educational Outreach and Student Services champions student success from kindergarten through college. We help the ASU student community achieve their personal, academic and professional goals by providing support services, involvement opportunities and a rich Sun Devil experience. Access ASU and ASU Preparatory Academies serve as catalysts for change, transforming Arizona’s college-going culture by empowering students to invest in their future and attain a university degree.

ASU is a comprehensive public research university, measured not by whom it excludes, but by whom it includes and how they succeed; advancing research and discovery of public value; and assuming fundamental responsibility for the economic, social, cultural and overall health of the communities it serves.
