Poly robotics team makes waves in the desert
ASU’s Polytechnic campus houses select majors that are eligible for the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE), a program coordinated by the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education. Residents of western states (other than Arizona) may enroll in the ASU WUE program at a tuition rate of 150 percent of Arizona base resident tuition plus all applicable fees for fall and spring terms only.
Desert WAVE — The all-female underwater robotics team of ASU students in the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering — was created by a partnership between The Polytechnic School, one of the six Fulton Schools, and Si Se Puede Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing resources for underserved communities. The team competed in the 2019 International RoboSub Competition, finishing in third place, a major feat for the first-time competitors. Excited about ending the competition with high marks, the team members — many of whom were freshmen — are already looking forward to competing in the RoboSub competition next year.

Life at the Polytechnic campus Cardboard boats and floats Every year, Fulton Schools students at the Polytechnic campus test out their sea legs in the desert. Teams must engineer the fastest and most reliable watercraft possible. Each boat must hold at least three participants, after that the fastest finisher wins, assuming there are finishers. May the best boat float!
Coming soon, Century Hall II For the 2020-21 academic year, first year Polytechnic students in Barrett, The Honors College plus upper division students will live in the new 370 bed residential hall. Two four story towers will connect on each floor and offer a lounge, conference rooms and laundry facilities. A community kitchen on the first floor will open to an outdoor patio and grill area. Century II will offer double-occupancy units that include a shared bathroom as well as four-bedroom units with two bathrooms and common shared space. The 8,100 square foot Barrett Suite, including classrooms, a computer lab, lounge space and faculty/staff offices will be located on the first floor of the south wing.
