THE ACADEMY 2018 ROUND-UP Conferences On 24th September, celebrity stylist Chris Appleton flew over from L.A. to put on a very special show for Aston & Fincher.

In June, our team took a trip to Valencia for the Alfaparf Milano show, 'Time After Time'. They transported the audience back in time as far as the 80s, working their way through the eras and finally, they gave us a peek into what the future of hairdressing holds. They based their experimental hairstyles on style icons such as Madonna, incorporating vibrant lighting, music and fashion. Over 1,300 guests attended this once-in-a-lifetime show, followed by a delicious gala dinner and then partied the night away! Watch this space for details about next year’s show.

The Framesi International Congress took place in Valencia this year, and the Aston & Fincher team were honoured to take part. In this Italian Style conference, Framesi showcased their 2019 collections: Wild Kingdom, Eccentric Campus and Fast Fashion Styling. They also debuted trending Autumn-Winter looks in the Passion4Fashion, Mixart Diffusion, and HaiRevolution sections.

The conference took place over 2 days, and was attended by more than 1,000 stylists from over 35 countries. Next year, Framesi are set to take the stage in Dubai – we can’t wait!

He is a Hollywood superstar and an ambassador for Color Wow, regularly creating show-stopping hair for celebrities such as Ariana Grande, Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez.

Chris recreated his three iconic looks – 'glass hair', the space pony and dream waves. Guests queued out the door for selfies with Chris afterwards, and they learned lots of tips to take back to the salon.

It was definitely a night to remember!

2019

Watch out for more great Color Wow Events and Courses next year!

We hosted two Color Complete events with superbrand Moroccanoil in Cardiff and Edinburgh, and attended a final show in London. The events focused on showcasing their latest ground-breaking colour care collection: Color Complete.

The guests attended three seminars, in which they learned all about the new products, and watched a demonstration of the products in action. Everybody was amazed with the results, and the guests left feeling excited to try out the new collection! We also hosted two interactive master classes with Angelo Fraccica, Moroccanoil’s Global Educator, in Birmingham and Liverpool in which Angelo demonstrated beautiful bridal hair.

We hosted 3 events with the man himself in 2018, showcasing his latest beautiful collection: Easy Classics & Easy Ponytails.

The guests watched in awe as Patrick moved effortlessly across the stage, and he made even the most complex hairstyle look easy. He always has time to stop and say hello to every guest, ensuring they felt right at home. After the shows, hairdressers were eager to get back in the salon and start re-creating these looks for themselves!

You may not realise it, but you demonstrate good salesmanship all the time! How many times have you recommended a new product or style to a client? You’re constantly using your sales skills, and it’s important to make sure your staff are playing their part. Encourage your staff to chat to customers about what they’re looking for this Christmas, and ensure they’re delivering the best possible service.

Our Top Tips for getting your staff on board: Training your staff on Christmas products and providing your team samples of the products is a great idea, as that way they know exactly what they’re talking about!

Encourage your staff to talk about their favourite gifts and products in the Christmas ranges. You can all feed off each other’s energy!

An incentive scheme would go down wonders. We’d all like an extra money boost at Christmas, so excite your staff with a brand-new incentive programme.

Why not host an open evening? It not only secures you extra business, but it’s also a fantastic promotional tool. Done well, it’s very powerful – it’s all about getting the word out there!

If not all staff members are keen on spreading the festive cheer, that’s totally fine! Work with those who are enthusiastic and continue to bounce your ideas off each other.

Team involvement in the Christmas stock selection process will make sure everybody feels part of a big, happy family! Talk to your staff about which products they’d like to see on the shelves.

Want your customers to keep coming back for more? Get your Christmas merchandising right, and customers will be queuing out the door…

1) Consider shelf positioning, especially when Christmas packs are involved.You want them to stand out.

2) Displaying products by sub-ranges is always a great idea, as your customers will be more willing to make multiple purchases. Block together - gifts for 'her’ and 'him’.

3) Put your best sellers in the hot spot so they’ll never be missed!

4) Make sure you have accessible products that customers can reach. That way, they’ll be more inclined to fill their shopping baskets. How about displaying a gift on each styling station?

5) Make use of shelf talkers! This gives immediate information about the products.

6) The salon window is your best friend! Use this as your spotlight promotional tool.

7) Keep it fresh! Re-merchandising regularly will always boost your sales.

8) If in doubt, ask a client what they look for when shopping. Their advice is always helpful!
