FOR PROFESSIONALS, IT HAS TO BE HARA 3

KOREAN LASH LIFT INSTRUCTIONS HARA Korean Lash & Brow Lift is a cysteamine-based system. These instructions are specifically for use with the HARA Korean Lash & Brow Lift range. HARA also offers a separate TGA-based lash and brow lifting system, which has different application methods, processing guidance and treatment instructions. Always check that you are using the correct HARA product with the corresponding treatment instructions before beginning the service. The two systems should not be used interchangeably.

Prior to Treatment – Preparation Before beginning the treatment, ensure the client has been fully prepared and the lashes have been carefully assessed. • • • • • • • • •

Complete a full client consultation and confirm there are no contraindications that would prevent the treatment from being carried out safely. Position the client comfortably, either lying flat or with the upper body slightly elevated. Ask the client to remove glasses and contact lenses before treatment begins. Take a clear before photograph for your client records. Protect the client’s hair with a hairband or disposable mop cap and place a towel or protective covering across the upper body to protect clothing. Sanitise your hands thoroughly and wear disposable gloves if required. Cleanse the eye area using HARA Lash & Brow Cleanser and clean cotton pads. Work gently in a downward motion, repeating where necessary until the lashes and surrounding eye area are completely free from make-up, oils and residue. Comb through the lashes using a clean disposable mascara wand. All sachets must be massaged immediately before opening.

Assess the Natural Lashes Before applying any lifting solution, carefully assess the condition, density and strength of the client’s natural lashes. The lashes should appear healthy and strong enough to withstand chemical processing. Lash density, thickness and overall condition will help determine the appropriate processing time. If the lashes appear particularly weak, damaged, brittle or unsuitable for processing, do not proceed with the treatment. Advise the client to return once the condition of the lashes has improved. Protect the Lower Lashes With the client’s eyes open and looking upwards towards you, carefully position tape and/or HARA Hydrogel Eye Patches beneath each eye.

4

Ensure all lower lashes are comfortably secured beneath the patches and that the patches are not touching the waterline. For a Korean lash lift, we recommend using two layers of Hydrogel Eye Patches. The upper pair can then be removed following Step 1, leaving a clean pair underneath ready for the later stages of the treatment.

Step 1 – Relax Step 1 softens and relaxes the natural lash structure, allowing the lashes to be reshaped during the lifting process. Start Your Timer Start your timer immediately before beginning the application of Step 1. Gently massage the sachet before opening to thoroughly mix the ingredients. Apply HARA Korean Lash & Brow Lift Step 1 to the lashes while they remain positioned on the under-eye patches. Apply the solution evenly from root to tip, ensuring each section requiring processing has sufficient product coverage. Application Tip Different areas of the lash may process at different speeds. The denser, stronger areas of the lash – particularly towards the root – may require slightly longer processing than the finer tips. Where necessary, begin application through the denser areas first before moving through the finer sections. This helps create more controlled and even processing across the lash. Perform Regular Lash Checks Processing times should always be used as a guide rather than relied upon as an exact treatment time. Throughout processing, regularly perform a lash check using a clean micro applicator. Gently work through several lashes and assess how flexible and pliable they have become. The lashes should feel sufficiently relaxed and manageable without appearing over-processed, weakened or damaged.

FOR PROFESSIONALS, IT HAS TO BE HARA 5

KOREAN LASH LIFT INSTRUCTIONS Continue checking throughout the processing time rather than leaving the lashes unattended until the timer has finished. HARA Korean Lash & Brow Lift Step 1 – Guideline Timings Fine lashes: approximately 7–10 minutes Natural/medium lashes: approximately 10–12 minutes Thick/coarse lashes: approximately 12–15 minutes These timings are guidelines only. Processing can vary considerably depending on: • Natural lash thickness and density • Previous chemical treatments • Overall lash condition • Amount and placement of product • Treatment room temperature A cooler environment can slow the processing action, while a warmer environment may cause the lashes to process more quickly. It is the responsibility of the trained professional to continually assess the lashes and determine when they have relaxed sufficiently, while always prioritising the integrity and health of the natural lash. Removing Step 1 Once the lashes have sufficiently relaxed, remove Step 1 thoroughly using a clean, dry cotton bud. Gently work through the lashes until all visible solution has been removed. Once Step 1 has been removed from the lashes, carefully remove the top layer of Hydrogel Eye Patches. This layer may have come into contact with Step 1 during application and can contain product residue, so it should not remain in place for the next stages of the treatment. Leave the clean lower layer of Hydrogel Eye Patches in position to continue protecting and securing the lower lashes. It is important that Step 1 is removed thoroughly. Any remaining residue on the lashes may interfere with the performance of Step 2 and could increase the risk of irritation. Do not proceed until you are satisfied that the lashes are clean and free from Step 1 residue.

6

Shield Placement & Lash Positioning Select the most appropriate HARA Korean Crown Shield for the client’s natural lash length and desired finished result. Position the shield as close to the natural lash line as comfortably possible. Apply a small amount of HARA Korean Lash Lift Balm to the shield and begin gently lifting and positioning the lashes. Work methodically across the lash line, ensuring the lashes are: • Smooth • Separated • Evenly spaced • Free from crossing • Positioned in the desired direction Less Is More Use only the amount of Lash Lift Balm required to secure the lashes. Applying too much balm can create a barrier between the lash and subsequent solutions, which may affect processing. Placement Tip For precise lash placement, use a combination of: • HARA Y Comb • Micro applicators • HARA Lash Lift Tool Take your time during this stage. Correct placement is essential for producing an even, clean and consistent finished lift.

FOR PROFESSIONALS, IT HAS TO BE HARA 7

KOREAN LASH LIFT INSTRUCTIONS Step 2 – Set Gently massage the sachet before opening to thoroughly mix the ingredients. Once the lashes are perfectly positioned on the shield, apply HARA Korean Lash & Brow Lift Step 2 evenly from root to tip. Ensure the lashes remain securely adhered to the shield and maintain their alignment throughout application. Allow Step 2 to process for the same length of time used for Step 1. If required, carefully place a lash paper compensator over the lashes to help maintain their position against the shield during processing. Do not allow the lashes to move, cross or separate from their intended placement while Step 2 is developing. Removing Step 2 At the end of the processing time, remove Step 2 thoroughly using a clean, dry cotton bud. Work gently through the lashes until all visible product has been removed. Check carefully around the root area and between the lashes to ensure no product residue remains.

Optional Colour Boost – Lash Tint A lash tint may be added following Step 2 to enhance depth and definition. Do not mix the tint until you are ready to apply it. Mix your chosen HARA Lash & Brow Tint thoroughly with Hara Lash & Brow Tint Developer in a clean dappen dish using the recommended ratio: 1cm tint to 3 drops developer Prepare only the amount required for the treatment. Upper Lashes • Set your timer before application. • Apply the freshly mixed tint immediately across the full length of the upper lashes. • Use a tint brush, clean cotton bud or micro applicator for controlled application.

8

• •

Avoid contact with the waterline and surrounding skin. Do not process for longer than 5 minutes.

Following lifting, the lashes are more porous and may absorb colour considerably faster than untreated lashes. Monitor colour development carefully throughout. Lower Lashes While the tint is developing on the upper lashes, carefully remove the Hydrogel Eye Patches. Reposition fresh or clean Hydrogel Eye Patches beneath the lower lashes to prepare them for tinting. Gently wipe through the lower lashes using a clean cotton bud. Using a tint brush or micro applicator, lightly apply tint through the lower lashes. Take care to avoid the waterline and surrounding skin. Lower lashes are generally finer and require a shorter processing time. Allow the lower lashes to process for approximately 3 minutes. Removing Tint from the Lower Lashes Using clean cotton buds, gently remove the tint in a downward motion onto the Hydrogel Eye Patch. Repeat with fresh cotton buds approximately 2–3 times, or until the lower lashes are completely free from tint. Removing Tint from the Upper Lashes After a maximum of 5 minutes, carefully remove the tint from the upper lashes using clean cotton buds. Work in an upward motion, following the direction of the lashes. Repeat using fresh cotton buds until all tint residue has been removed. A small amount of HARA Korean Lash & Brow Lift Step 3 may be used where necessary to assist with the removal of remaining tint.

FOR PROFESSIONALS, IT HAS TO BE HARA 9

KOREAN LASH LIFT INSTRUCTIONS Step 3 – Condition, Release & Finish Gently massage the sachet before opening to thoroughly mix the ingredients. Using a clean micro applicator or cotton bud, apply HARA Korean Lash & Brow Lift Step 3 evenly along the entire length of the lashes on both eyes. Allow Step 3 to absorb into the lashes and begin releasing them from the shield. Do not scrub or wipe aggressively from side to side, as unnecessary friction can place stress on lashes immediately following chemical processing. Instead, use gentle, controlled movements in the natural direction of the lashes. Removing the Shields As the HARA Korean Crown Shields are glueless, they should release easily from the eyelid once the lashes have been freed. Ensure the client keeps their eyes fully closed throughout this stage. Gently lift the edge of the shield and carefully remove it from the eyelid without pulling or stretching the skin.

Finishing the Treatment • • • • • • • • •

10

Use a clean cotton bud to remove any excess Step 3 or tint residue from the surrounding skin. Gently comb through the upper lashes using a clean disposable mascara wand. Check that the lashes are separated, evenly positioned and sitting in the desired direction. Ask the client to slowly open their eyes. Check the finished result and gently comb through the lashes once more. Carefully remove the Hydrogel Eye Patches. Comb through the lower lashes and check the entire eye area is clean and comfortable. Take a clear after photograph. Explain the appropriate HARA lash lift aftercare advice to the client before they leave.

Professional Note Processing times are provided as guidance only. Every client’s natural lashes will respond differently depending on their strength, density, condition, treatment history and the working environment. Never rely on timing alone. Continual visual and physical assessment of the lashes should form part of every treatment. Always prioritise natural lash health and follow the most up-to-date HARA Professional product instructions, training guidance and recommended safety procedures.

FOR PROFESSIONALS, IT HAS TO BE HARA 11

KOREAN BROW LAMINATION INSTRUCTIONS HARA Korean Lash & Brow Lift is a cysteamine-based system.

Prior to Treatment – Preparation Before beginning the treatment, ensure the client has been fully prepared and the natural brow hairs and surrounding skin have been carefully assessed. • • • • • •

Complete a full client consultation and confirm there are no contraindications that would prevent the treatment from being carried out safely. Position the client comfortably, either lying flat or with the upper body slightly elevated. Ask the client to remove glasses before treatment begins. Protect the client’s hair using a hairband or disposable mop cap and cover the upper body with a towel or protective covering to protect clothing. Sanitise your hands thoroughly and wear disposable gloves if required. All sachets must be massaged immediately before opening.

Prepare & Cleanse the Brows Apply HARA Brow Scrub to the brow area and gently massage using a silicone cleansing brush. Work in small circular motions using light, controlled pressure to remove make-up, oils, dead skin cells and surface residue. Avoid excessive pressure or over-exfoliation, as the skin needs to remain comfortable and intact before chemical processing. Remove the scrub thoroughly using damp cotton pads. Follow with HARA Lash & Brow Cleanser applied to a clean, dry cotton pad to remove any remaining traces of product, oil or residue. Before proceeding, ensure the brows are completely: • Clean • Dry • Free from make-up • Free from oils

12

•

Free from cleanser or scrub residue

Comb through the brows using a clean disposable mascara wand and keep this wand for use later in the treatment. Take a clear before photograph for your client records. Assess the Natural Brows Before applying any lamination solution, carefully assess the condition, density, texture and strength of the client’s natural brow hairs. The hairs should appear healthy and strong enough to withstand chemical processing. Consider: • Hair thickness • Hair density • Areas of finer or weaker growth • Previously tinted or chemically treated hairs • Overall brow condition • Skin condition around the brows The thickness and density of the brow hairs will help determine the appropriate processing time. If the hairs appear particularly weak, damaged, brittle, over-processed or unsuitable for lamination, do not proceed with the treatment. Advise the client to return once the condition of the brow hairs has improved.

FOR PROFESSIONALS, IT HAS TO BE HARA 13

KOREAN BROW LAMINATION INSTRUCTIONS Step 1 – Relax Step 1 softens and relaxes the natural structure of the brow hair, allowing it to become more flexible and easier to reposition. Start Your Timer Start your timer immediately before beginning the application of Step 1. Gently massage the sachet before opening to thoroughly mix the ingredients. Using a clean micro applicator, apply HARA Korean Lash & Brow Lift Step 1 from the root of the brow hair to approximately three quarters of the way along the hair. Do not initially apply Step 1 fully through the tips. Work the product carefully into the brow, ensuring it reaches through the upper hairs to the underneath layers so that the brow is processed evenly. Avoid unnecessary product contact with the surrounding skin. Halfway Lash/Brow Check Approximately halfway through the expected processing time, gently work Step 1 further through the brow hairs towards the tips. At this stage, assess how the hairs are responding and how pliable they have become. Use a clean mascara wand or suitable applicator and work very gently. Important – Minimise Brushing Brushing during chemical processing should be kept to an absolute minimum. Do not repeatedly brush backwards and forwards through the brow and do not drag the brush across the skin, as excessive friction may cause abrasions, sensitivity or irritation. Use only the movement required to assess and reposition the hairs. HARA Korean Lash & Brow Lift Step 1 – Guideline Timings Fine or previously tinted brows: approximately 7–9 minutes Natural, healthy brows: approximately 8–10 minutes

14

Coarse, healthy brows: approximately 10–12 minutes These timings are provided as a guide only. The treatment should never be carried out using timing alone. Continually assess how the brow hairs are responding throughout the processing period. Perform Regular Brow Checks Check the brow hairs at regular intervals throughout Step 1. Using a clean micro applicator or mascara wand, gently test a small section of hair to assess its flexibility. You are looking for the brow hairs to become relaxed, flexible and pliable enough to move easily into the desired position. The exact processing time can vary depending on: • Natural hair thickness • Hair density • Previous tinting or chemical services • Overall hair condition • Amount and placement of product • Treatment room temperature Temperature can have a noticeable effect on processing. A cooler treatment environment may slow the processing action and require additional time, while a warmer environment may cause the hairs to process more quickly. For this reason, observing the brows throughout the entire process is essential. Professional Tip The brow may be ready before the suggested guideline time, or it may require slightly longer. The condition and behaviour of the hair should determine when you move to Step 2 — not the timer alone.

FOR PROFESSIONALS, IT HAS TO BE HARA 15

KOREAN BROW LAMINATION INSTRUCTIONS Different Areas May Process at Different Speeds Not every hair within the brow will necessarily relax at exactly the same time. Some clients may have finer hairs through one area and stronger or coarser hairs elsewhere. If the finer hairs have fully relaxed before the thicker areas, remove Step 1 from the finer section and apply Step 2 to that area immediately. Step 1 may then remain on the thicker hairs until they have also relaxed sufficiently. This allows different areas of the brow to be processed according to their individual needs rather than over-processing the finer hairs while waiting for a small number of resistant hairs. Do Not Over-Process for One Resistant Hair Do not compromise the health of the entire brow because one or two hairs have not relaxed as quickly as the rest. If the majority of the brow has reached the correct level of flexibility, move those hairs onto Step 2 rather than continuing to process them unnecessarily. Removing Step 1 & Moving to Step 2 As soon as the brow hairs have reached the required level of flexibility, remove HARA Korean Lash & Brow Lift Step 1 using a clean, dry cotton bud. Work carefully through the brow, following the direction of the hair. Ensure the Step 1 solution has been thoroughly removed from the hairs before applying Step 2. Important Removing Step 1 alone does not stop the chemical process. HARA Korean Lash & Brow Lift Step 2 must be applied immediately after Step 1 has been removed from a processed area. Do not remove Step 1 from the entire brow and leave the hairs without Step 2 while continuing to work elsewhere. If different sections of the brow are processing at different rates, work section by section — removing Step 1 and immediately applying Step 2 to each area as it becomes ready.

16

Step 2 – Set Gently massage the sachet before opening to thoroughly mix the ingredients. Immediately following the removal of Step 1, apply HARA Korean Lash & Brow Lift Step 2 evenly over the entire length of the processed brow hairs. Ensure each hair is thoroughly and evenly coated. Gently position the hairs into the desired direction while maintaining a clean, controlled brow shape. Avoid excessive brushing or unnecessary manipulation of the hairs while Step 2 is developing. Step 2 Processing Time Leave Step 2 on for the same length of time that Step 1 was processed on that particular area. For example, if an area of the brow processed with Step 1 for 8 minutes, Step 2 should also process on that area for 8 minutes. Where different areas have been processed for different lengths of time, ensure the corresponding Step 2 timings are also adjusted accordingly. Removing Step 2 Once the required processing time has been reached, remove Step 2 thoroughly using a clean, dry cotton bud. Work gently in the direction of the brow hairs. Ensure all visible product has been removed before moving on to the finishing stages of the treatment. At this point, carefully check the brow shape and ensure the hairs are positioned in the desired direction.

FOR PROFESSIONALS, IT HAS TO BE HARA 17

KOREAN BROW LAMINATION INSTRUCTIONS Optional Colour Boost – Brow Tint or Stain A brow tint or stain can be added following Step 2 to enhance colour, definition and the overall finished result. Because the brow hairs have just been chemically processed, they will be more porous than untreated hairs and may absorb colour much more quickly. Do not mix your tint or stain until you are ready to apply it. Mixing Mix the chosen colour thoroughly with the appropriate developer in a clean dappen dish. Tint Use: 1cm tint to 3 drops liquid or cream developer Stain Use: 6 drops stain to 3 drops cream developer Always prepare only the amount required for the treatment. Applying Tint or Stain Apply the freshly mixed tint or stain immediately using a tint brush or angled applicator. Work carefully from root to tip, ensuring the brow hairs are evenly coated. You can apply the colour: • Evenly throughout the entire brow • Using a softer ombré technique • According to the client’s desired finished result When using tint, avoid unnecessary contact with the surrounding skin wherever possible. When using a brow stain and skin staining is required, apply the product onto the skin within the desired brow shape using a controlled stamping motion. Repeat the application process on the second brow. Keep the Shape Clean Use clean cotton buds to remove any tint or stain that extends outside the desired mapped brow shape.

18

For more stubborn staining outside the shape, a slightly damp cotton bud may be used carefully. Do not rub or disturb the freshly laminated brow hairs. Check Colour Development After approximately a couple of minutes, use a clean cotton bud or micro applicator to check how the colour is developing. Remove a small amount of product from one section to assess the colour. If additional depth is required, carefully reapply the tint or stain to the area. Continue to monitor the brows throughout development. Maximum Processing Time Following lamination, brow hairs are more porous and can take colour considerably faster. Do not leave the tint or stain on for longer than 5 minutes. When the desired colour has been achieved, remove the product using a clean cotton bud. Use a gentle rolling motion up and away from the brow rather than rubbing across the hairs. Repeat with fresh cotton buds until all tint or stain residue has been removed. Ask the client to check the colour. If they would prefer additional depth, tint or stain can be reapplied carefully and monitored closely.

Optional Brow Waxing & Shaping If brow waxing forms part of the treatment, first assess the condition of the skin surrounding the brows. Only proceed if the skin appears healthy, intact and comfortable following the lamination process. Do not wax areas showing excessive redness, sensitivity, irritation or compromised skin. Shape the brows according to the agreed brow design, taking care not to disturb the freshly laminated hairs. Any additional tweezing or finishing should be carried out carefully and only where required.

FOR PROFESSIONALS, IT HAS TO BE HARA 19

KOREAN BROW LAMINATION INSTRUCTIONS Step 3 – Condition & Finish Gently massage the sachet before opening to thoroughly mix the ingredients. Using a clean micro applicator or cotton bud, HARA Korean Lash & Brow Lift Step 3 evenly throughout the entire length of the brow hairs on both brows. Ensure the hairs are lightly but thoroughly coated. Step 3 helps complete the treatment while conditioning the freshly processed brow hairs. Gentle Application Do not wipe or scrub aggressively from side to side. The brow hairs have just undergone chemical processing and unnecessary friction could compromise their structure or disturb the finished shape. Instead, work gently in the direction of the hair. Use a clean cotton bud to remove any excess Step 3 and any remaining traces of tint or stain from the surrounding area Finishing the Treatment • • • • • • •

Gently comb through the brows using the clean disposable mascara wand retained from the beginning of the treatment. Position the hairs into the desired finished style. Check both brows for balance, shape and direction. Ensure the surrounding skin is clean and comfortable. Remove any remaining product residue carefully. Take a clear after photograph. Explain the appropriate HARA Brow Lamination aftercare advice to the client before they leave.

Professional Note Processing times should always be treated as guidance rather than fixed treatment times. Every client’s brow hairs will respond differently depending on their: • Thickness • Density • Condition • Previous chemical treatments

20

• •

Porosity Treatment environment

Continual visual and physical assessment of the brow hairs is essential throughout the treatment. The aim is to achieve sufficient flexibility to reposition the hairs while maintaining their strength and integrity. Never continue processing healthy, relaxed hairs simply because a small number of resistant hairs have not responded at the same rate. Always prioritise the health of the natural brow hairs and surrounding skin and follow the most up-todate HARA Professional product instructions, training guidance and recommended safety procedures.

FOR PROFESSIONALS, IT HAS TO BE HARA 21

TRADITIONAL LASH LIFT INSTRUCTIONS HARA Traditional Lash Lift Treatment Instructions HARA Lash & Brow Lift is a TGA-based system. These instructions are specifically for use with the HARA TGA Lash & Brow Lift range. HARA also offers a separate Korean Lash & Brow Lift system, which is cysteamine-based and follows different application methods, processing guidance and treatment instructions. Always check that you are using the correct HARA product with the corresponding treatment instructions before beginning the service. The TGA and Korean systems should not be used interchangeably.

Prior to Treatment – Preparation Before beginning the treatment, ensure the client has been fully prepared and the natural lashes have been carefully assessed.

Protect the client’s hair using a hairband or disposable mop cap and drape a towel or protective covering over the upper body to protect clothing. Sanitise your hands thoroughly and wear disposable gloves if required. Cleanse the eye area using HARA Lash & Brow Cleanser and clean cotton pads. Work in a gentle downward motion, repeating where necessary until all make-up, oil and residue has been removed. Comb through the lashes using a clean disposable mascara wand.

Assess the Natural Lashes Before applying any lifting solution, carefully assess the condition, density, thickness and overall strength of the client’s natural lashes. The lashes should appear healthy and strong enough to withstand chemical processing. Consider: • Lash thickness • Lash density • Areas of finer or weaker growth • Previously tinted or chemically treated lashes • Overall lash condition

22

Lash density and thickness will help determine the most appropriate processing time. If the lashes appear particularly weak, damaged, brittle, over-processed or unsuitable for lifting, do not proceed with the treatment. Advise the client to return once the condition of the lashes has improved. Protect the Lower Lashes With the client’s eyes open and looking upwards towards you, carefully position tape and/or HARA Hydrogel Eye Patches beneath each eye. Ensure all lower lashes are securely positioned beneath the patches and that the patches are sitting comfortably without touching the waterline. Check that no lower lashes have escaped before continuing. Choosing a Shield & Isolating the Lashes Ask the client to gently close their eyes. Selecting the correct shield size is essential, as the shield will influence the shape, lift and overall finished result. Check the Shield Size Test different shield sizes where necessary before applying any bonding product. Position the shield along the lash line and use the HARA Lifting Tool to gently bring the lashes up against it. Use the following as a guide: • If the lashes reach less than halfway up the shield, select a smaller size. • If the lashes extend onto or beyond the petal area, select a larger size. Trim the shield where required to achieve a comfortable and secure fit. The highest point of the shield should sit centrally over the eye.

FOR PROFESSIONALS, IT HAS TO BE HARA 23

TRADITIONAL LASH LIFT INSTRUCTIONS Secure the Shield Apply a thin layer of HARA Lash & Brow Bonding Adhesive to the underside of the shield. Position the shield onto the eyelid as close to the natural lash line as comfortably possible. Check that: • No lashes are trapped underneath the shield • The inner and outer corners are secure • The shield sits evenly across the eyelid • The highest point is centred over the eye Hold the shield in position for approximately 15–20 seconds to allow it to secure. Lift & Position the Lashes Begin lifting the lashes from the centre of the eye. Starting centrally helps prevent the lashes from being pulled at an angle and allows you to build an even direction across the shield. Apply HARA Lash & Brow Bonding Adhesive to a small section of the shield. Using the HARA Lifting Tool or Y-Comb, carefully lift the lashes onto the shield. Work in small sections, repeating the process until all lashes have been positioned. Take your time during this stage. The direction and placement of the lashes on the shield will determine how they sit once the treatment is complete. Ensure the lashes are: • Straight • Evenly separated • Flat against the shield • Free from crossing • Positioned in the desired direction Less Is More Avoid using excessive bonding product.

24

Too much bonder can become white or flaky and may create a barrier that prevents Step 1 and Step 2 from processing the lashes effectively. If the lashes need to be repositioned, use a slightly damp cotton bud to soften the bonding product before carefully adjusting them. A damp cotton bud can also be used to remove excess bonder where required. Before moving on, check once again that all lower lashes are free from the shield. Repeat the process on the second eye, then step back and check the position and symmetry of both shields from the front of the client.

Step 1 – Lift & Relax Step 1 softens and relaxes the natural lash structure so that the lashes can take on the shape created by the shield. Prepare Step 1 Before opening the sachet, gently massage it to thoroughly mix the ingredients. Open the sachet and dispense the required amount of HARA Step 1 Lifting Cream into a clean glue ring or suitable disposable container. Start Your Timer Start your timer immediately before beginning the application of Step 1. If working on each eye separately, use individual timers to ensure both eyes receive the correct processing time.

FOR PROFESSIONALS, IT HAS TO BE HARA 25

TRADITIONAL LASH LIFT INSTRUCTIONS Applying Step 1 Using a clean micro applicator, apply a small amount of HARA Step 1 Lifting Cream from the root of the lashes upwards. Apply Step 1 to no more than approximately half of the lash length, taking care to avoid the waterline. Begin application through the centre of the eye or wherever the lashes appear most dense or resistant. Work carefully and evenly across the treatment area. If Step 1 travels higher than halfway up the lashes, remove the excess immediately using a clean cotton bud. Avoid processing the finer lash tips. Repeat on the second eye, setting a separate timer where required. HARA Step 1 – Guideline Processing Times Very fine lashes: approximately 3–4 minutes Fine or previously tinted lashes: approximately 4–5 minutes Natural, healthy lashes: approximately 5–6 minutes Thick or resistant lashes: approximately 6–7 minutes These timings are provided as a guide only. Processing should always be based on the condition, thickness and response of the client’s natural lashes rather than relying on timing alone. Professional Tip Monitor the lashes throughout processing, particularly when working with fine, tinted or previously chemically treated lashes. Never continue processing simply to reach the maximum suggested time if the lashes have already responded sufficiently. Removing Step 1 As soon as the first timer sounds, remove HARA Step 1 Lifting Cream using a clean, dry cotton bud or micro applicator.

26

Use a gentle rolling motion upwards and away from the root. This helps prevent Step 1 from being dragged onto the finer tips of the lashes during removal. Repeat the removal process 2–3 times if required to ensure all traces of Step 1 have been thoroughly removed. Check carefully between the lashes and around the root area to ensure no product residue remains. When the second timer sounds, repeat the same removal process on the other eye. Do not proceed until you are satisfied that Step 1 has been fully removed.

Step 2 – Neutralise & Set Step 2 neutralises the lifting action and sets the lashes into their new shape. Prepare Step 2 Gently massage the sachet before opening to thoroughly mix the ingredients. Open the sachet and dispense the required amount of HARA Step 2 Neutralising Lotion into a clean glue ring or suitable disposable container. Start Your Timer Start your timer immediately before beginning the application of Step 2. If working on each eye individually, use separate timers where required. Applying Step 2 Using a clean micro applicator, apply a small amount of HARA Step 2 Neutralising Lotion from the root of the lashes upwards. Apply Step 2 to no more than approximately three quarters of the lash length, taking care to avoid the waterline. Begin through the centre of the eye or wherever the lashes are most dense.

FOR PROFESSIONALS, IT HAS TO BE HARA 27

TRADITIONAL LASH LIFT INSTRUCTIONS Important Step 2 should be applied higher than Step 1. This ensures that the full area exposed to Step 1 is completely neutralised. If Step 2 travels higher than approximately three quarters of the lash length, remove the excess using a clean cotton bud. Maintain the lashes in their correct position on the shield throughout application. Repeat on the second eye and set a separate timer where required. HARA Step 2 – Guideline Processing Times Very fine lashes: approximately 3–4 minutes Fine or previously tinted lashes: approximately 4–5 minutes Natural, healthy lashes: approximately 5–6 minutes Thick or resistant lashes: approximately 6–8 minutes Use these times as guidance and continue to monitor the lashes throughout processing. Removing Step 2 As soon as the first timer sounds, remove HARA Step 2 Neutralising Lotion using a clean cotton bud or micro applicator. Again, use a gentle rolling motion upwards and away from the root to avoid unnecessarily transferring product onto the tips. Repeat the removal process 2–3 times if required until all visible Step 2 has been removed. Check carefully around the roots and between the lashes. When the second timer sounds, repeat the same removal process on the other eye. Ensure Step 2 has been thoroughly removed before moving on to tinting or Step 3.

Optional Colour Boost – Lash Tint A lash tint can be added following Step 2 to enhance depth and definition.

28

Because freshly lifted lashes are more porous, they can absorb tint considerably faster than untreated lashes. Do not mix the tint until you are ready to apply it. Mixing Mix your chosen HARA Lash & Brow Tint tint thoroughly with the appropriate developer in a clean dappen dish using the recommended ratio: 1cm tint to 3 drops developer Prepare only the amount required for the treatment. Tinting the Upper Lashes Set your timer before application. Apply the freshly mixed tint immediately across the full length of the upper lashes. Use a tint brush, clean cotton bud or micro applicator for controlled application. Avoid contact with the waterline and surrounding skin. Do not process the upper lashes for longer than 5 minutes. Monitor colour development closely, as freshly processed lashes can absorb colour rapidly. Tinting the Lower Lashes While the tint is developing on the upper lashes, carefully remove the Hydrogel Eye Patches.

TRADITIONAL LASH LIFT INSTRUCTIONS Removing Tint from the Lower Lashes Using clean cotton buds, gently remove the tint in a downward motion onto the Hydrogel Eye Patch. Repeat with fresh cotton buds until all visible tint residue has been removed. A small amount of HARA Step 3 Moisturising Serum may be used if necessary to assist with removing remaining tint.

Step 3 – Moisturise, Release & Finish Step 3 completes the treatment while conditioning the freshly processed lashes and helping to release them from the shield. Prepare Step 3 Gently massage the sachet before opening to thoroughly mix the ingredients. Open the sachet and dispense the required amount of HARA Step 3 Moisturising Serum into a clean glue ring or suitable disposable container. Applying Step 3 Using a clean micro applicator or cotton bud, apply HARA Step 3 Moisturising Serum evenly along the entire length of the lashes on both eyes. Allow Step 3 to absorb into the lashes and begin softening the bonding product so the lashes can be released from the shield. Gentle Application Do not scrub or wipe aggressively from side to side. The lashes have just undergone chemical processing and excessive friction may weaken or disturb the newly formed structure.

30

Instead, work gently in the direction of the lashes. Releasing the Lashes from the Shield Apply a small amount of Step 3 to a clean micro applicator and gently work it between the lashes and the shield. Slowly release the lashes without pulling or stretching them. Continue until all lashes have been comfortably released. Removing the Shields Apply Step 3 to a clean micro applicator and gently sweep underneath the edge of the shield. Work slowly along the shield until it releases from the eyelid. Ensure the client keeps their eyes fully closed throughout this stage. Carefully lift the shield away from the eyelid. Step 3 can also be used to gently remove excess bonding product remaining on the skin. If the skin still feels slightly sticky, a damp cotton bud may be used on the skin only. Do not use a damp cotton bud directly on the freshly lifted lashes.

Finishing the Treatment Use a clean cotton bud to remove any excess Step 3 or tint residue from the surrounding skin. Comb through the lower lashes.

TRADITIONAL LASH LIFT INSTRUCTIONS Check that the entire eye area is clean and comfortable. Take a clear after photograph. Explain the appropriate HARA Lash Lift aftercare advice to the client before they leave. Professional Note Processing times should always be treated as guidance rather than fixed treatment times. Every client’s natural lashes will respond differently depending on their: • Thickness • Density • Condition • Porosity • Previous tinting or chemical treatments • Individual areas of resistance With the HARA TGA system, particular care should be taken to control where Step 1 and Step 2 are applied. Step 1 should be applied to no more than approximately half of the lash length, while Step 2 should extend higher, to approximately three quarters of the lash length, to ensure complete neutralisation of the processed area. Avoid unnecessary processing of the finer lash tips and remove any product that travels beyond the intended application area. Always prioritise the health and integrity of the natural lashes and follow the most up-to-date HARA Professional product instructions, training guidance and recommended safety procedures.

TRADITIONAL BROW LAMINATION INSTRUCTIONS HARA Lash & Brow Lift is a TGA-based system.

Prior to Treatment – Preparation Before beginning the treatment, ensure the client has been fully prepared and the natural brow hairs and surrounding skin have been carefully assessed. • • • • •

Prepare & Cleanse the Brows Apply HARA Brow Scrub to the brow area and gently massage using a silicone cleansing brush. Work in small circular motions using light, controlled pressure to remove make-up, oils, dead skin cells and surface residue. Avoid excessive pressure or over-exfoliation, as the surrounding skin should remain comfortable and intact before chemical processing. Remove the scrub thoroughly using damp cotton pads. Follow with HARA Lash & Brow Cleanser applied to a clean, dry cotton pad to remove any remaining traces of scrub, oil or residue. Before proceeding, ensure the brows are completely: • Clean • Dry • Free from make-up • Free from oils

34

•

Free from cleanser or scrub residue

Comb through the brows using a clean disposable mascara wand and retain this wand for use later in the treatment. Take a clear before photograph for your client records. Assess the Natural Brows Before applying any lamination solution, carefully assess the condition, density, texture and strength of the client’s natural brow hairs. The hairs should appear healthy and strong enough to withstand chemical processing. Consider: • Hair thickness • Hair density • Areas of finer or weaker growth • Previously tinted or chemically treated hairs • Overall brow condition • Skin condition surrounding the brows Brow density and hair thickness will help determine the appropriate processing time and the order in which different areas should be treated. If the hairs appear particularly weak, damaged, brittle, over-processed or otherwise unsuitable for lamination, do not proceed with the treatment. Advise the client to return once the condition of the brow hairs has improved.

TRADITIONAL BROW LAMINATION INSTRUCTIONS Step 1 – Lift & Relax Step 1 begins the restructuring process by softening and relaxing the natural brow hairs, allowing them to be repositioned into the desired shape. When working on each brow separately, use individual timers where necessary so that each brow receives the correct processing time. Applying Step 1 Using a clean micro applicator, apply a small amount of HARA Step 1 Lifting Cream from the root of the brow hair upwards. Concentrate the initial application through the lower section of the hair rather than coating the full length and tips immediately. Begin application through the middle or body of the brow, or wherever the hairs are most dense and resistant. Then move to the head and tail of the brow, using staggered application timings where necessary to accommodate finer or less resistant areas. Work the product gently into the brow hairs so that it reaches through the different layers of hair. Carefully guide the hairs into the desired direction without excessive brushing. Stagger Your Application Different areas of the brow may process at different speeds. The denser body of the brow will often require longer processing than the finer hairs around the head and tail.

36

For this reason, application may need to be staggered rather than applying Step 1 across the entire brow at exactly the same time. Begin with the strongest or most resistant areas before progressing to finer areas. This gives you greater control and helps prevent finer hairs from becoming over-processed while waiting for thicker hairs to respond. Protect the Hair Tips The ends of brow hairs are generally finer and more vulnerable to over-processing than the stronger root and mid-length areas. If Step 1 reaches the tips earlier than intended, remove the excess immediately using a clean, dry cotton bud. Only process the tips for approximately 30–60 seconds where required. Avoid leaving Step 1 on the tips for the full processing time. HARA Step 1 – Guideline Processing Times Very fine brows: approximately 3–4 minutes Fine or previously tinted brows: approximately 4–5 minutes Natural, healthy brows: approximately 5–6 minutes Thick or resistant brows: approximately 6–7 minutes These processing times are provided as a guide only. Always begin with the lowest recommended processing time appropriate for the client’s brow type, particularly when working with fine, previously tinted or more porous hairs. For fine brows, assess the hairs in small increments of approximately 30 seconds where additional processing is required.

FOR PROFESSIONALS, IT HAS TO BE HARA 37

TRADITIONAL BROW LAMINATION INSTRUCTIONS Perform Regular Brow Checks Do not rely on the timer alone. Continually observe the brows throughout processing and check how the hairs are responding. Signs that Step 1 has processed sufficiently include the brow hairs becoming: • Softer • Straighter • More flexible • Easier to reposition • More responsive when gently guided Check frequently, particularly towards the end of the expected processing time. The aim is to achieve sufficient flexibility to reshape the hair without compromising its strength or condition. Professional Tip Processing times may vary between clients and even between different sections of the same brow. Always prioritise the condition and behaviour of the hair over reaching the maximum guideline time. If the hairs have processed sufficiently, remove Step 1 rather than leaving it on simply because there is time remaining on the timer. Removing Step 1 Once the required level of relaxation has been achieved, remove HARA Step 1 Lifting Cream using a clean, dry cotton bud or cotton pad. Work gently in the direction of the brow hairs. Repeat the removal process 2–3 times if required to ensure all traces of Step 1 have been thoroughly removed. Check through the different layers of the brow to ensure no product remains underneath the upper hairs. Repeat the same process on the second brow, taking into account its individual timer and processing time. Do not proceed until you are satisfied that Step 1 has been completely removed.

38

Step 2 – Neutralise & Set Step 2 neutralises the lifting action and sets the brow hairs into their newly positioned shape. Before applying Step 2, use a clean disposable mascara wand to gently position the brows into the desired final shape. Distribute the hairs evenly and check that: • The hairs are sitting in the desired direction • Hairs are not crossing over one another • The brow shape appears balanced • Both brows are symmetrical • The hairs have not been over-brushed or placed under unnecessary tension Crossing hairs can create an untidy finished result and may cause areas of the brow to appear irregular. Use gentle, controlled movements and avoid repeatedly brushing through freshly processed hairs. Symmetry is key. Step back and visually check both brows before continuing. Prepare Step 2 Gently massage the sachet before opening to thoroughly mix the ingredients. Open the sachet and dispense the required amount of HARA Step 2 Neutralising Lotion into a clean glue ring or suitable disposable container. Start Your Timer Start the timer immediately before beginning the application of Step 2. If each brow is being treated separately, use an individual timer for each brow. Applying Step 2 Apply a generous, even layer of HARA Step 2 Neutralising Lotion from the root of the brow hair upwards. Step 2 should be applied further along the hair than Step 1 to ensure all areas exposed to the lifting cream are fully neutralised.

FOR PROFESSIONALS, IT HAS TO BE HARA 39

TRADITIONAL BROW LAMINATION INSTRUCTIONS Unlike Step 1, Step 2 can safely be applied through the tips for the full processing time. Gently comb Step 2 through the brows where required to ensure the product reaches all layers of hair. Maintain the desired brow shape throughout application, as Step 2 is fixing the hairs into their new structure and direction. Avoid excessive brushing once the hairs are correctly positioned. Repeat on the second brow and start the second timer where required. HARA Step 2 – Guideline Processing Times Very fine brows: approximately 3–4 minutes Fine or previously tinted brows: approximately 4–5 minutes Natural, healthy brows: approximately 5–6 minutes Thick or resistant brows: approximately 6–7 minutes Follow the appropriate processing time for the client’s brow type and continue to observe the hairs throughout. Removing Step 2 Once the required processing time has been reached, remove HARA Step 2 Neutralising Lotion using a clean, dry cotton bud or cotton pad. Work gently in the direction of the brow hairs. Repeat the removal process 2–3 times if required to ensure Step 2 has been thoroughly removed from all layers of the brow. Repeat on the second brow. Check that all product has been removed before moving on to tinting, staining, shaping or Step 3. If you are not following the lamination with tinting, staining or brow shaping, proceed directly to Step 3 Moisturising Serum.

Optional Colour Boost – Brow Tint or Stain A brow tint or stain may be added after Step 2 to enhance colour, shape and definition. Following lamination, the brow hairs are more porous than untreated hairs and may absorb colour

40

significantly faster. For this reason, colour development must be monitored closely. Do not mix tint or stain until you are ready to apply it. Mixing Mix your chosen colour thoroughly with the appropriate developer in a clean dappen dish. Tint Use: 1cm tint to 3 drops liquid or cream developer Stain Use: 6 drops stain to 3 drops cream developer Prepare only the amount required for the treatment. Applying Tint or Stain Apply the freshly mixed tint or stain immediately using a tint brush or angled applicator. Work from root to tip, ensuring all hairs are evenly coated. Colour may be applied: • Evenly throughout the brow • Using an ombré technique • According to the agreed brow design and desired finished result When tinting, avoid unnecessary skin contact wherever possible. When using a brow stain and a skin-staining effect is required, apply the product to the skin within the mapped brow shape using a controlled stamping motion. Repeat the application on the second brow. Keep the Shape Clean Remove any tint or stain that extends beyond the desired mapped brow shape using clean cotton buds. For more stubborn staining outside the shape, a slightly damp cotton bud may be used carefully. Do not rub or disturb the freshly laminated brow hairs.

FOR PROFESSIONALS, IT HAS TO BE HARA 41

TRADITIONAL BROW LAMINATION INSTRUCTIONS Check Colour Development After approximately a couple of minutes, use a clean cotton bud or micro applicator to check how the colour is developing. Remove a small amount of product from one area to assess the colour. If additional depth is required, carefully reapply the tint or stain and continue monitoring. Maximum Processing Time Because freshly laminated brow hairs are more porous, they may take colour very quickly. Do not leave tint or stain on the brows for longer than 5 minutes. Once the desired colour has been achieved, remove the product using a clean cotton bud. Use a gentle rolling motion up and away from the brow, rather than rubbing backwards and forwards across the hairs. Repeat with fresh cotton buds until all product has been removed. Ask the client to check that they are happy with the finished colour. If additional depth is required, tint or stain may be carefully reapplied and monitored closely.

Optional Brow Waxing & Shaping If brow waxing or additional shaping forms part of the treatment, assess the condition of the skin surrounding the brows before proceeding. Only wax if the skin appears healthy, intact and comfortable. Do not wax over skin that appears excessively red, irritated, sensitised or compromised. Shape the brows according to the agreed brow design while taking care not to disturb the freshly laminated hairs. Any additional tweezing or finishing should be carried out carefully and only where required.

42

Step 3 – Moisturise, Condition & Finish Step 3 should be used to finish the treatment, condition the freshly processed brow hairs and complete the service. Prepare Step 3 Gently massage the sachet before opening to thoroughly mix the ingredients. Open the sachet and dispense the required amount of HARA Step 3 Moisturising Serum into a clean glue ring or suitable disposable container. Applying Step 3 Using a clean micro applicator or cotton bud, apply HARA Step 3 Moisturising Serum evenly throughout the entire length of the brow hairs on both brows. Ensure the hairs are lightly but thoroughly coated. Gentle Application Do not wipe or scrub the hairs aggressively from side to side. The brow hairs have just undergone chemical processing and excessive friction could compromise the structure of the hair or disturb the newly created shape. Instead, work gently in the direction of the hair. Use a clean cotton bud to remove any excess Step 3 and any remaining traces of tint or stain from the surrounding area. Finishing the Treatment • • • • • • •

Gently comb through the brows using a clean disposable mascara wand. Position the hairs into the desired finished style. Check both brows for balance, symmetry, shape and direction. Ensure the surrounding skin is clean and comfortable. Remove any remaining product residue carefully. Take a clear after photograph. Explain the appropriate HARA Brow Lamination aftercare advice to the client before they leave.

TRADITIONAL BROW LAMINATION INSTRUCTIONS Professional Note Processing times should always be treated as guidance rather than fixed treatment times. Every client’s brow hairs will respond differently depending on their: • Thickness • Density • Condition • Porosity • Previous tinting or chemical treatments • Individual areas of resistance Continual visual and physical assessment of the brow hairs is essential throughout the treatment. With the HARA TGA system, particular care should be taken to protect the finer ends of the brow hairs from unnecessary Step 1 processing and to use staggered application timings where different areas require different processing times. Never continue processing hairs that have already reached the required level of flexibility simply to reach the maximum guideline time. Always prioritise the health of the natural brow hairs and surrounding skin and follow the most up-todate HARA Professional product instructions, training guidance and recommended safety procedures.
