In the waxing world, success isn’t just about that quick “rip.” It’s about precision, client comfort, and long-lasting results, from consultation to after-care. The Key Elements of Waxing

The Product: Choosing the right wax
Stripless wax is the preferred choice for sensitive and intimate areas as, unlike soft wax, it adheres only to the hair, minimising discomfort and irritation
Strip wax still has a place for large areas like legs, arms, or back, where speed and efficiency are essential. Applying strip wax requires professional technique to prevent repeated skin trauma, particularly when waxing over coarse or dense hair.
HARA's wax choices are varied and there is something for every therapists preference suiting a wide variety of clients.
Preparation: The foundation of a successful service
Thorough skin cleansing and hair assessment are essential with all types of waxing for consistent results and to ensure optimal adhesion and client comfort.
HARA's Pre Wax range features a gel, a spray and an oil to cover all preferences.
For stripless wax, a very small amount of pre-wax oil creates a barrier between the wax and skin (think sheen not shine).
Application: Technique meets precision
Professional application requires strip wax to be applied in a thin layer in the direction of hair growth at a 45-degree angle with firm, consistent pressure.
Stripless wax has changed since the ‘figure of 8’ days! We recommend offloading your wax and applying it against the hair growth as opposed to with, spreading it with a medium-firm pressure to encapsulate the hairs. You should keep your edges thick and ensure the ‘lip’ for removal is in a hair free area.

Aftercare:
Post-wax care & maintenance
Aftercare is as critical as the wax itself and HARA cover a range of preferences when it comes to post-wax, whether you prefer an oil or a lotion or lean towards a certain fragrance.
As a therapist, providing professional aftercare advice strengthens your clients trust, ultimately increasing rebooking’s and retention. As well as the obvious aftercare instructions, exfoliating and moisturising is essential maintenance between appointments. Waxing weakens the hair, which can then struggle to break through the skin and cause ingrown hairs. By keeping the skin smooth and hydrated, your clients can minimise or prevent this.

Removal: The science behind the pull
Pulling wax off correctly is as important as the application. Always hold the skin taut, asking your client to help if necessary, and remove parallel to the skin, against the direction of hair growth. Immediately pressing the area after removal calms the nerve endings and minimises discomfort, a subtle adjustment that dramatically improves client experience.
