Nepal, although being a small country, has become a prosperous and proud country to have listed in UNESCO World Heritage Sites for ten different places and artifacts. CULTURAL ESSENCE WORLD HERITAGE SITES IN NEPAL 1. SWAYAMBHUNATH STUPA Swayambhunath stupa is estimated to be around 2500 years old and considered probably one of the oldest monuments among other world heritage sites. The stupa comprises a hemisphere at the base, above which is a cubical structure painted with eyes of Buddha glancing in all four directions representing Wisdom and Compassion. This temple is regarded as the symbol of religious tolerance as there is the temple of the Hindu goddess Saraswati.
