Once again Autumn is upon us and the leaves have started to fall early this year so be sure to help your neighbours with sweeping up those leaves!
Our committee gets many enquires about council assistance on our roads so for ease we have listed our new and returning City Councillors in our area on the back page for you to contact them with your local needs!
Our community continues to grow & we would like to share a warm welcome to the many neighbours who have joined our roads. We are currently planning our AGM at the Evergreen Hall on Tuesday 12th November at 8pm. All are welcome - it might be a nice opportunity to meet some new neighbours. You can contact our committee at terenurer@gmail.com with any questions or points for discussion.
Our annual Party in the Park on Eaton Square took place in June and was once again a great success with our neighbours coming together to celebrate our roads! The ice-cream van was back and we would like to extend our thanks to Dave & co. for providing the music! Jeff from Brilliant events provided the entertainment with support from Dublin City Council! Thank you to our committee for once again organising! New members with fresh ideas are always welcome so please do not hesitate to reach out and join us in organising 2025! All enquiries to: terenurer@gmail.com

On the 12th June, Dublin City Council held a 3 hour Open Information Session in the Evergreen Centre where plans for the development of a new Public Library in Terenure Village were shared.
Our existing library in Terenure dates from the mid-1950s and comprises a single storey complex of buildings and a temporary toilet with a total footprint of 300 square metres.
In 2018, ASI Architects Ltd conducted a survey on the existing buildings and recommended that all be demolished to make way for a new purpose built library building as the current buildings would not be capable of supporting additional structures. Moreover, neither building is considered to be of notable architectural merit.
In June 2022 Cubetecture Design Limited, who had previously worked on the Dun Laoghaire Library, were appointed to work on preliminary designs for a new library building. These designs have been completed and were presented at the drop-in session. The proposed Library will be located on the site of the existing library on Templeogue Road but the ambition is to deliver a 3 storey building of circa 1,000 square metres which will comprise of a basement level, ground level and a new first floor. A picture speaks a thousand words as you can see here and the new complex looks fantastic!!!

The Open session was very well attended with approx 100 local residents dropping by and overall there was very positive feedback.
The next step in the process is to initiate a Part 8 planning application in 2024. So there is a good bit to go before we hopefully get our new Library but the plans look very impressive. One to ask our local politicians about as they canvas in the near future!!!

Our next ART event will be our AGM at the Evergreen Hall on Tuesday 12th November at 8pm. ALL WELCOME!
In June of this year, we were sorry to hear of the passing of Francis Clarke of Eaton Square after a long illness. A fond neighbour and friend to many of our residents over the years, Francis ran a sweet shop in Terenure village for many years and was a central organiser involved in the delivery of Party in the Park’s over the years (pictured here with neighbours Mrs. Mulligan & Mary Carroll at one such event in the past!).
Thank you to the wonderful Éanna Ní Lamhna for giving a fantastic session on urban wildife & nature at our 'Going Wild in Terenure with Éanna' event hosted by ART at Terenure Library in March.
It was a fantastic turnout. Great to see such support for biodiversity & restoring wildlife locally. ART were delighted to work with Terenure Library on hosting this event.
The library is hosting some talks for the upcoming Dublin Festival of History including a talk entitled ‘Service Terminated: The Last Tram from Dartry’ on 7th October at 6.30pm.
The speaker James Scannell will provide an overview of the Dartry and Terenure services concluding with the running of the last trams.
Before he passed away Francis dedicated one of the new benches in Eaton Square in memory of his much loved wife, Fiona. We would like to express our condolences to his many friends & family on their recent loss. Thank you to Eanna!
