Immigration and right to work

ALP EXPERT SUPPORT

IMMIGRATION AND RIGHT TO WORK

The Government’s new immigration system comes into effect on 1 January 2021 and it will end free movement, assert full control over who comes to this country and reduce overall levels of migration.

IMMIGRATION AND RIGHT TO WORK

The Seasonal Workers Scheme Pilot will be reviewed at the end of 2020 and the Government will decide if the scheme will continue into 2021. Under the new system, right to work checks (RTW) will be online and employers will need to carry out RTW for non-UK citizens via the digital checking service from January 2021. For EU citizens there is a transition period from January to June 2021, where employers can continue to carry out the RTW as they have done in 2020. The resources signposted on this page provide information on the new immigration system, how EU citizens can apply to the EU Settlement Scheme and answers to those difficult questions as well as a number of resources with recommendations for a future seasonal workers scheme.
