Strand 1 – "European Rememberance"

1 preparatory activity + 4 international events have been carried out within this project: Preparatory Activity Participation: The event involved 11 citizens, including 2 participants from the city of Taurisano and Tiggiano (IT), 1 participant from the city of Nicosia (CY), 1 participant from the city of Marseille (FR), 1 participant from the city of Bedekovcina (HR), 1 participant from the city of Vilnius (LT), 1 participant from the city of Beja (PT), 1 participant from the city of Novi Sad (RS), 1 participant from the city ofOswiecim (PL), 1 participant from the city of Cluj (RO), 1 participant from the city of Stádlec (CZ).

Location / Dates: The event took place in Santa Maria di Leuca, Italy, from 13/11/2017 to 16/11/2017 Short description: The aim of the event was to adequately prepare the partners’ coordinators on the methodology (Street debate) to be used during the 18 months project and the outputs to be achieved. The participants agreed the terms of cooperation, including respective tasks and duties.

This preparatory activity was also important in order to commonly define the communication activities to be implemented, in order to give the project the wider impact possible at every community level and at international level.

Event 1 Participation: The event involved 76 citizens, including 2 participants from the city of Taurisano, 4 participants from the city of Tiggiano (IT), 1, participant from the city of Nardò (IT), 4 participants from the city of Nicosia (CY), 1 participant from the city of Marseille (FR), 2 participants from the city of Bedekovcina (HR), 2 participants from the city of Vilnius (LT), 2 participants from the city of Beja (PT), 2 participants from the city of Novi Sad (RS), 2 participants from the city of Oswiecim (PL), 52 participants from the city of Cluj (RO), 2 participants from the city of Stádlec (CZ).

Location / Dates: The event took place in Cluj, Romania, from 22/02/2018 to 25/02/2018 Short description: The aim of the event was to officially launch the project and Zivi Miller’s life which inspired it. The participants also discussed about Holocaust and Discrimination in Romania during the Second World War, with Dr. Zoltán Tibori Szabó, Babeș-Bolyai Univesity, exchanging opinions, in an artistic way, on new and old ways of discrimination in Europe (against Gipsy, LGBT, migrants, …). A street debate activity in one of the main squares of Cluji was implemented in order to involve the local community in the discussion about the Future of Europe.

Event 2 Participation: The event involved 55 citizens, including 2 participants from the city of Taurisano, 5 participants from the city of Tiggiano (IT), 1, participant from the city of Nardò (IT), 4 participants from the city of Nicosia (CY), 1 participant from the city of Marseille (FR), 2 participants from the city of Bedekovcina (HR), 2 participants from the city of Vilnius (LT), 2 participants from the city of Beja (PT), 2 participants from the city of Novi Sad (RS), 20 participants from the city of Oswiecim (PL), 2 participants from the city of Cluj (RO), 2 participants from the city of Stádlec (CZ).

Location / Dates: The event took place in Krakow, Poland, from 11/05/2018 to 14/05/2018 Short description: The aim of the event was to give the participants the opportunity to discussing about crimes against humanity, visiting some historical sites (Auschwitz Birkenau Concentration Camps and Schindler’s factory), commemorating the victims of Nazism and involving the local community in a street debate activity. The topic was strictly connected to the aim of the event: “Have

you ever fought for your rights?”, and it was held in one of the most important market squares in Krakow, so as to have the biggest impact possible.

Event 3 Participation: The event involved 53 citizens, including 3 participants from the city of Taurisano (IT), 32 participants from the city of Tiggiano (IT), 1 participant from the city of Nardò (IT), 5 participants from the city of Nicosia (CY), 1 participant from the city of Marseille (FR), 1 participant from the city of Paris (FR), 2 participants from the city of Vilnius (LT), 2 participants from the city of Beja (PT), 2 participants from the city of Novi Sad (RS), 2 participants from the city of Oswiecim (PL), 2 participants from the city of Cluj (RO).

Location / Dates: The event took place in Tiggiano, Italy, from 12/10/2018 to 15/10/2018 Short description: The aim of the event was to present the situation of migrants in Europe, especially refugees and asylum seekers together with national and local best practices for their integration and inclusion. The participants visited the “Museo dell’Accoglienza” in Nardò, where the murals of Zivi Miller are still collected and they had the chance to better understand Jewish feelings during the Nazism period. What is more, thanks to a street debate activity implemented in the main square in Lecce, many passers-by were involved in the discussion about the Future of Europe, from the “inclusion of diversities” point of view.

Event 4 Participation: The event involved 78 citizens, including 2 participants from the city of Taurisano, 7 participants from the city of Tiggiano (IT), 1, participant from the city of Nardò (IT), 53 participants from the city of Nicosia (CY), 1 participant from the city of Marseille (FR), 2 participants from the city of Bedekovcina (HR), 2 participants from the city of Vilnius (LT), 2 participants from the city of Beja (PT), 2 participants from the city of Novi Sad (RS), 2 participants from the city of Oswiecim (PL), 2 participants from the city of Cluj (RO), 2 participants from the city of Stådlec (CZ).

Location / Dates: The event took place in Nicosia, Cyprus, from 25/01/2019 to 28/01/2019 Short description: Short description: The aim of the event was to facilitate a discussion about what "freedom of movement" means, both during the II WW and in EU today, by involving the local community, thanks to a street debate activity in one of the main squares of Nicosia.

At the same time, the participants exhibited their artistic works done during the previous international meetings, so as to "conclude" the Zivi's trip with a final evaluation and a discussion about possible follow up initiatives.
