Lt. Dempsie Coffman Retires
On November 4, Lt. Dempsie Coffman retired after 48 years and 3 months of service with the Arkansas State Police, making him the longest-serving employee in state police history. Many friends, family members, elected officials, and fellow Troopers gathered to celebrate the lieutenant’s career, which began in 1973 when he was sworn in as a Trooper. Lt. Coffman retired as a lieutenant and assistant commander in 2004, then returned to work for the ASP as a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Examiner that same year. He has penned several books about his experiences with the Arkansas State Police, including Arkansas State Troopers: A Breed Apart and Life (It's All about the Family): An Autobiography about the Life and Times of Lt. Dempsie Coffman, Arkansas State Police.

Sr. Cpl. Brigham Jones Retires
Sr. Cpl. Brigham Jones retired in spring 2021 after 23 years of service with the Arkansas State Police and 30 total years in law enforcement. Because of Covid-19 restrictions, he was honored with a celebration several months later at the Morrilton Fire Department. June 2 was declared “Brigham Jones Day” in the City of Morrilton by Mayor Allen Lipsmeyer, and Sr. Cpl. Jones was recognized by the Arkansas Legislature with proclamations presented by Rep. Rick Beck and Sen. Jason Rapert.
