Asolo Rep Education & Engagement

Education & Engagement donors partner with Asolo Rep in making professional live theatre accessible for everyone in our community. Our programming engages a wide variety of audiences and invites them to connect and create through exciting and innovative theatrical experiences.

ACCESS TO THE ARTS is an umbrella of programs that create opportunities for young people, community members, and educators to experience the connections, learning, and excitement in professional theatre. In 2020-2021, Asolo Rep made a selection of our world-class productions available to stream to classrooms, distance learning students, and community organizations. These theatrical experiences can be explored from home or classroom, making them accessible to more students in more places.

ASOLO REP ONLINE CLASSES are spaces for students to be inspired by professional artists, their peers, and themselves. We facilitate experiences for young people and adults who want to deepen their knowledge of the theatrical art form to have a safe and innovate space to do so—a learning laboratory for all aspects of the performing arts.

VOICES OF CHANGE

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT Programs include:

THE ILLUMINATION SERIES explores the social, political, and cultural themes threaded throughout Asolo Rep’s theatrical season. For the 2021 IllumiNation Series, three digital events will focus on art and issues of race, gender, identity, and cultural intersection.

VOICES OF CHANGE is an interactive conversation with our community, in partnership with various community organizations and schools. The vision of this program is to connect using theatre, storytelling, conversation, and collaboration, amplifying more voices in a wide spectrum of communities with a digital, shareable outcome.

KALEIDOSCOPE is an umbrella of programs that use the performing arts to celebrate the unique voice and creative expression of individuals with disabilities. Through innovative and responsive arts experiences, sharing stories, and learning techniques of theatre, Kaleidoscope examines what it means to be an individual and an artist.

ASOLO REP ENGAGE is an online education, dramaturgy, and engagement platform that invites the community into our creative process, and celebrates the art of theatre and all the people who create it. Education & Engagement Digital Content includes: Nia Explains it All, Mini-Masterclasses, Games & Activities, Digital Talkbacks
