Advanced Research in Computational Sciences & Artificial Intelligence
The proposed program involves three main components:
1. Teaching/Research Program: The goal is to engage scholars from the US and California with the local talent pool in Armenia by developing collaborations in teaching and research. This will help create networking between academic and research institutions in the US and Armenia, and develop capacity for servicing industry collaborations. The program was devised by several task forces in ASOF, led by scholars from the US and California who are also knowledgeable of the local potential and capacity in Armenia. The program will administer 80 classes and workshops annually, engaging over 90 scholars from the US. Two types of classes are planned: core classes that serve as foundation to specialized tracks; and specialized classes and training in strategic areas in the sciences and hightech.
2. Program Management & Administration: This involves setting up a tech transfer office to connect tech and IP development in Armenia with companies in the US and California. It also involves managing the teaching/research program with visitors from the US so that the experience and associated cultural exchange is smooth and productive. The operation will also engage with industry representatives from the US in helping access regional markets.
3. Infrastructure investments: Infrastructure expenses are meant to support training and research through the purchase of equipment mostly from the US. Each year, one focus area will be targeted for development. It is expected that this will trigger the Armenian government to also invest as local capacity is developed, generating additional engagements with industry in the US and California.
