ASMS has given me so many opportunities to further my education, discover my true passions, and even have hands-on experience with conducting research. If it were not for ASMS, I would have never learned as much as I have, and I am definitely more prepared for the future!

ASMS has a wide variety of electives in every subject, so you can really explore different areas of math, science, or humanities to find out more about what you might want to study in college. I found my passion for chemistry at ASMS. Overall, ASMS introduces you to an entirely different learning style and lifestyle that you would never experience by living and learning at home.

What Sets ASMS Apart? Academics – It’s The Heart of What We Do College-Level Stem Coursework ASMS students take science, math and computer science coursework normally reserved for college freshmen and sophomores. Sample classes include: Marine Biology, Organic Chemistry, Number Theory, and Computational Materials Science. All science courses include a hands-on weekly lab.

Unrivaled Computer Science Department

The ASMS Computer Science Department offers over 20 different courses with six different tracks students can choose to specialize in. The tracks are: Data Scientist, Database Administrator, Information Security Analyst, Software Developer,Video Game Developer, and Web Developer. One of the department’s instructors was named Teach Cyber’s National Cybersecurity Teacher of the Year for 2020.

Exceptional Arts and Humanities Offerings

ASMS students diversify their interests and express themselves by taking additional college-level courses like The Dystopian Novel, Women of the Renaissance, German for Engineers, Advanced Digital Photography, and Theatre Production. Many ASMS students sing in the school choir, play an instrument in the school orchestra, or create in our on-campus art studio.

Teachers are Content Experts

66% of ASMS faculty hold terminal degrees such as doctorates in their subject areas. Most taught at the college level before coming to ASMS. Many remain active in their professional fields by attending conferences and publishing their research. ASMS students study under experts and thought leaders.

Choose Your Own Academic Path

The ASMS curriculum offers students the ability to choose their areas of focus! Students can opt into the Honors or AP tracks in most subjects. After completing graduation requirements, they can access a vast catalog of electives. Many students specialize in a subject of their choice, earning a concentration in it that is acknowledged on their diploma and transcript. Visit our online course catalog for a complete look at the wide array of courses ASMS students can take.

Opportunities for Research and Internships

Students may participate in the Research Fellows Program and work with a mentor who will guide them through a fulfilling research project. They may also be placed in a summer internship or research program by our Research Coordinator. These opportunities help ASMS students stand out during the college admissions process.

Resources to Help You Succeed

ASMS academic programs adapt to the needs of our students. The campus has nightly quiet hours for studying. Instructors keep open-door office hours to answer questions. Each subject features a study lab staffed with knowledgeable tutors. Counselors help struggling students find the individualized help they need.

Thanks to the wonderful students, faculty, and staff, ASMS has allowed me to dive deeper into my passion for the biological sciences, along with being more comfortable with exploring subject fields that I was not familiar with. I would truly choose ASMS a hundred times over again if given the choice to stay home or attend ASMS.

If you are on the fence about attending ASMS and feel like you are not academically capable because you do not have the best GPA or test scores, there is no need to fret. I have personally been there. My test scores did not match ASMS’s average scores and I felt discouraged to even continue the application process. However, despite the doubts in my mind, I did not give up. I worked twice as hard in school to show just how dedicated I am to taking advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity.
