Please take care and keep us informed. 35 years ago our daughter Marie (one of our twins) was diagnosed by a very prominent cancer specialist in St. Louis.as having a rare form of bone cancer. (Ewing's Sarcoma) Not a promising prognosis. That same night I took her and Charlotte to The Mayo Clinic in Rochester. We spent a full week there and had a lot of tests performed. You may or may not be aware of my experience of doing ayahuasca and then becoming a shaman. If not, thought this might be a good time to do so I will not go into details right now as it would be a very long e mail but please look up a place called Rythmia in Costa Rica. I have been there twice now. Ayahuasca is simply a plant medicine that has been used for 5000 plus years by indigenous people of many South American countries to cure and help people in a myriad of ways. It allows our conscious part of the brain, only 10%, to communicate with the subconscious part which is 90%. Once that happens boundless possibilities exist that otherwise did not. Doing ayahuasca does not mean you forgo other traditional treatments. Many people go before they start treatment only to go back home and ﬁnd out that their illness is gone. Others go back and ﬁnd out that things have gotten better but some treatment is still necessary. I went there hoping to connect with my bother and it was the most incredible experience I can ever imagine and yes I did connect with him in a very powerful way. I do not bring this up to many but this process is all done with shamans and all shamans do is pray for people and connect the physical world to the spiritual world and that works for me. This was not the news that Cherri and I wanted to hear from you, but now that we are in the loop we are on a mission to be Prayer Warriors for Kim as she begins her ordeal to overcome this malady with God's help and his healing hands. We have entered into stage one this AM and will continue again tonight at 9:00 PM and then every day & night thereafter until you are proclaimed Cancer Free so we can all praise God and Celebrate his grace! Kim, you have been on my mind over the last couple of weeks. I had been rationing the peach jam you gave us at our last LD2021 reunion, and finally scraped the last morsel from the bottom of that small jar. I removed the label from the lid and set it aside to be a reminder to send you a thank you note for sharing your delicious labor of love. So now I have a very good reason to end my procrastination and tell you how much I appreciated you and your handicraft on mornings when I enjoyed Kim's Peach Jam spread sparingly on a toasted English Muffin with melted butter and savored it along with my morning coffee! So.... thanks for those special memories of our last visit. As Bob has always said: "You are the Best!" So..... Brother Bob we are also keeping you in our prayers that God will help you stay strong and be the rock that Kim can lean on, on those days when the side effects of the Chemo regimen make her question "why am I doing this?" That's when you have to let your "deboner" charm and optimism kick in and remind her "why she's doing this! Never let her give up faith that "God is Good" and he and you are with her every step of the way. You see, I've been there before you and I know everything that's going thru your mind right now and will be going thru it in the days to come. Do everything you can and leave no cause for regrets for "coulda, woulda, shoulda decisions". We believe and have personal evidence of the Power of Prayer so we will actively recruit other Prayer Warriors to petition God's help and attention for Kim's best welfare. Not sure if I ever shared with you but when I was 20 I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Disease. In 1980 Hodgkins was pre(y much deadly. My parents were told I had less then a 30% chance of beaYng it. But with an incredible army of family and friends and two years of hell between RadiaYon and then Chemotherapy we beat it. I look back on that Yme in my life and I learned so much. The great value of family and friends who would not let me feel sorry for myself and who pushed me and encouraged me thru the whole process. During my 28 years at the RMH I have been amazed at the incredible progress and success that has taken place with the treatment and ability of Dr’s and medicine to treat and even cure cancer. It is unbelievable. 2 years ago my older sister was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer that had metesYzed throughout her body. The Dr said the normal life span of this is about a year. On May 15 she will celebrate 2 years of having a very normal and great life despite taking chemo every month. The advancements have been unbelievable. If you ever want to chat and share/swap stories or commiserate as you go thru this don’t ever hesitate to call. As I have been there, done that. Rely on your incredible base of friends and family to help carry you thru this. I am sure you will ﬁnd this hard to believe but I am a EucharisYc Minister and go to church 4-5 days a week. My girlfriend Karen was diagnosed with metastaUc breast cancer in 2016 and went there to get all of the examinaUons and a treatment plan. They were able to do biopsies on the micro level that Siteman or anybody in STL wasn’t able to do. MD Anderson was able to establish the treatment plan based on examinaUons and then she was able to have treatments done at Siteman Cancer center. The treatments are deﬁnitely working for Karen and it has been in remission for some Ume now. Karen is willing to talk to you and share her experiences if you are interested. I daily guide men through prostate cancer diagnosis and the anxiety it causes a couple. Caught early, our medical community is doing what can be considered miracles. Positive attitude and good doctors work miracles. Prayer helps as well. I know when I had prostate surgery in 2008 my pastor said he would ask the congregation to pray for me. I told my pastor not to have the congregation pray for me, pray for the surgeon. Having survived cancer twice it is scary and the thought never totally goes away. Kim is in Cheryl and my prayers. I have contacted our children (we have seven) and asked them to pray for you. They remember well going through this with their Mom. Maria’s was in the uterine lining. It had nearly penetrated through the lining, but thanks be to God, it had not! I have also sent a request for prayers through our prayer chain to all of the “prayer warriors” I know. Lastly, when we heard Maria’s diagnosis fiSeen years ago, my brother called me immediately and told me he and his wife were going to take care of everything for us so that we could just focus on Maria and making sure she was geang the best care possible. My brother ran my office, cut our lawn, did whatever needed to be done. His wife made dinners, and took care of our children. It was truly a blessing to know everything was in good hands, and didn’t need my acenTon. I am offering you the same here. I don’t know what you need, but if you need Maria and I to set up a meal chain to get meals prepared and delivered to you for the next couple of weeks, cut your grass, you name it, please let us know. God sent us many beauTful people to pray and walk with us through our Tme of need, and we will gladly do the same with you. Please let me know of anything we can do to help you at this Tme. Lord, I lift Kim and her affliction up to You, and ask that You take it away. I thank You, our Great Physician, for Your grace and mercy toward her. I ask You Lord that You would lead Kim & Bob in the right direction concerning her health. Put her in the hands of doctors whom You choose. Work through those doctors’ minds and hands so that they do what is best for her dear Lord. We trust that You are using Kim as a part of Your perfect plan. Remember that you take such good care of yourself and you are healthier than 99.9% of people and if anyone can get through this, it's you. I want to tell you, that I hope you know I am willing any and every day to come over and help you out with whatever you need. I'm not sure how you are feeling now or how you will feel during treatment, but I will gladly come over and cook or prepare anything you would like to eat or drink. I know you like to eat clean & healthy and I am good at/used to preparing juices, smoothies, and the types of meals you often eat & enjoy. Just know I am here and available and I would do anything for you! Of course there are so many things I want to ask you (like how are you feeling right now, what did they say treatment would be like/how you will feel), but I don't want to overwhelm you and I want to respect your privacy.
