On March 28th, 2020, the Theta Chapter of Alpha Sigma Kappa - Women in Technical Studies celebrated their 5-year Anniversary as an Active Chapter at Colorado State University. As in-person gatherings were not allowed, they took the celebration online, holding a virtual Big/Little Reveal and a Netflix Party with Sisters, watching " Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" !
Over its years of existence, the Theta Chapter has continued to develop as an organization and as a Sisterhood. Over the past year, they updated and wrote many policies; the biggest one being a J-Board policy. This policy was designed to provide a better outline of consequences and establish consistency in their implementation. It will also help future Vice Presidents run more efficient J-Board hearings.
In its 5th year, the Theta Chapter has 20 Actives and 1 Candidate, Sarah, whom they welcomed at their Bid Day (pictured above) earlier in the term. A few Theta Chapter traditions are doing P&Ts (Praises and Thanks) and Lioness of the Week at all Chapter meetings. Both of these traditions celebrate Sisters and their contributions to the Chapter and fellow Sisters. Additionally, the Chapter has " Pride Pals" for Candidates; every week an Active is paired with a Candidate for a Sister date, which helps Candidates really get to know the Active Sisters.
Communications Officer Michelle Bailey shared her experience, stating "I have truly found a home in this Organization. I joined my first semester of freshman year, back in 2016. I was new to the school, new to the area, and did not have many friends.
Through this Organization, I have found lifelong friends, gained so many wonderful memories, and improved my social, academic, and professional skills."
