strong showing of more than 100 Singapore media companies are participating in this year’s Asia TV Forum & Market, with many riding on stories with universal appeal and embarking on international coproductions to expand their creative footprint. Among these is award-winning Singapore-based project studio Moving Bits, which is co-developing a six-part factual series The Eagle and the Dragon: Stories from inside China together with America’s PBS and China Intercontinental
Communication Center (CICC). The series is targeted to premiere in the US in Fall 2013, and will give Americans a detailed view of how China’s economic and cultural rise mirrors their own. Meanwhile, Singapore-based production company Beach House Pictures has joined forces with Australia’s Northern Pictures, ABC TV and Screen Australia to produce Kakadu, a 4 x 1 hour documentary series on Australia’s heritage-listed Kakadu National Park. In conjunction with the global launch of Microsoft Windows 8, Ochre Pictures has tied up with xinMSN, MediaCorp’s web portal-cum-VOD service, to produce the first branded web drama Of Love & Hidden Charms. Separately, MediaCorp Studios is also showcasing its latest cross-platform offering 96°C Café, which will first be telecast online on xinMSN as a mini drama and continue its run as a 20-episode serial on free-to-air TV. Also making their market debut at ATF 2012 is a slate of original TV content produced by some of Singapore’s most prolific production houses, including the awardwinning documentary series Junkie Monastery by The Moving Visuals Co.
