soothe children to sleep for centuries. With quarantine keeping families at home, and the stresses of the lockdown taking their toll, it has never been more important to focus on wellbeing and taking a moment of peace wherever possible. Tea India’s Turmeric Chai provides a simple way to add more turmeric to the diet, as well as offering families the opportunity to sit and drink a cup together, enjoying the aroma of herbs and spices of this traditional drink. Midlands Schools Protected Against COVID-19 Midlands schools protected with 30day microbe-shield and temperature screening process as hundreds of pupils and teachers head back to class -Sanitisation solutions and COVID-19 monitoring can make schools safe environments as the Government reopens schools for select age groups-

In the beginning of June, two schools in Solihull, an infant and a junior school, were specially sanitised and protected with a microbe-shield which lasts 30 days. This was done in advance of the school reopening on second Monday of June. This microbe-shield eliminates all enveloped viruses, flu and up to 99.99% of bacteria, meaning that COVID-19 will not be able to live on surfaces such as door handles or desks. The service providing this sanitisation, FiltaShield, also demonstrated their ThermoGuard cameras, which detect Fevers in under 1 second using AI. A Fever has been identified as a common symptom of coronavirus. Solihull, 04 June 2020; FiltaShield, the service for sanitising, protecting and monitoring COVID-19 in public spaces, went into two schools in Solihull, St Alphege CE Infant and Junior school, on Wednesday 03 June to sanitise the premises and install thermal cameras capable of detecting high temperatures,

Images credit: Solihull Observer in advance of schools reopening across the UK. FiltaShield’s service has been developed to support the re-opening of public spaces by providing an increased level of protection against the spread of viral infection. The first element of the service is sanitisation. FiltaShield’s fleet of technicians sanitised and disinfected the premises, eliminating all enveloped viruses, flu and up to 99.99% of bacteria. In addition to conventional sanitisation, FiltaShield has partnered with biotech company Zoono suppliers of a revolutionary antibacterial technology that continues to protect surfaces for up to 30 days. The product was applied to surfaces in a process called ‘fogging’, which

permanently bonds to them to set up a nano-molecular layer of pins which create a hostile barrier to germs, physically impaling and destroying them as they come into contact with the Zoono layer. FiltaShield’s technicians will make ongoing visits to the schools every 30 days, creating a report after they swab surfaces and use a specialist ATP reader to ensure the premises are hygienically clean. Routine cleaning can continue and does not disrupt the Zoono molecule or its antimicrobial activity. As part of the service, a trained technician has also educated the schools’ cleaners on how to keep the environment sanitised so that schools and cleaners can also maintain their own hygiene measures with an “antiviral maintenance pack” of Filta’s all-purpose sanitiser. For the third step, FiltaShield demonstrated thermal cameras at the school, with a high-temperature accuracy of ± 0.5 ºc. These thermal cameras detect elevated skin surface temperatures which may indicate the presence of a fever, one of the symptoms of coronavirus infection. The cameras take one second to detect the elevated temperature, and can scan 30 people per second. The technology uses artificial intelligence to identify high temperatures to reduce false alarms, and also means that there is no-contact in the scanning process. In this way, students, teachers, and other personnel entering school environments can be monitored for potential COVID-19 infections. Jason Sayers, CEO of Filta Group, parent company of FiltaShield, said: “When this pandemic broke out, it was quickly clear that there was an urgent need for sanitisation and monitoring services to ensure the safety of the local community to return to some semblance of normality.

“Our goal is to make sure public environments are as safe as possible for people as lockdown measures begin to ease. FiltaShield’s services mean that surfaces are protected for up to 30 days at a time, and presence of the virus can be monitored through quick, easy, and contactless temperature testing. “Never is public health safety more important than when it comes to our kids. We are really happy to have helped the St Alphege CE Infant and Junior schools get ready to open their doors to pupils and teachers again, and to do our part in keeping them safe and controlling the virus.” Robert Morrissey, Headteacher of St Alphege CE Infant and Junior school, said: “We want to do whatever we can to reduce risk of transmission. We have acted in accordance with government guidelines and have the required measures in place. The services provided by Filta add an extra level of protection and bring down risk still further. We are using their FiltaShield service and are also evaluating their Fever monitoring device ThermoGuard. I have found Filta to be very professional and informative.”

The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao reopens its doors with offers to encourage visitors and security measures to facilitate a smooth and safe experience On the day of its reopening, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao presented the measures adopted to ensure visitors can enjoy a peaceful day of art, knowing that they are protected, as well as benefitting from the special advantages of visiting the Museum in June. Regarding the measures adopted to encourage a safe and pleasant visit, the Museum has created a series of green pictograms that display all the guidelines clearly and intuitively. These are present both on the website and in the physical spaces inside the Museum. The measures and their respective icons are divided into two groups: preliminary considerations and guidelines during the visit. Among the preliminary considerations are purchasing your tickets online in the desired time-slot, downloading the free audio guide on your phone, a reminder that once inside the Museum you can only pay by card, the need to wear a mask and the reminder not to bring bags or umbrellas because the cloakroom is closed. Once inside the Museum, the measures in place to encourage a calm and safe visit are temperature checks before entering and a series of rules implemented to maintain a safe distance from other visitors and staff. To this end, an itinerary has been defined for your visit: start-

ing on the third floor and working your way down to the second and first floors (for anyone wishing to visit all floors); a one-way system has been introduced to go through the rooms; stairs and elevators have been designated for travel up or down; the number of people permitted in each elevator, bathroom or on each bench has been restricted. These simple measures, displayed on horizontal and vertical signs throughout the Museum, make it easier to enjoy your visit and avoid crossing paths with other visitors without affecting the fluidity and quality of your visit. Thanks to the large spaces in the Frank Gehry building and the capacity limited to 400 people at a time, meaning a minimum of 20 square meters per visitor. June offers a unique opportu-

nity for quiet contemplation of works of art. Watch the video with measures here In addition, to encourage local people to visit the Museum in June, we have launched two promotions. Firstly, Museum Members, a group of over 20,000 people whose loyalty and generosity are key to the institution, will be able to invite another person to the Museum in June at no cost. Those who are not yet Members also have a great opportunity this June: for the price of their ticket to the Museum, they will receive three months of a Museum Member card, allowing them free entry as often as they like, all summer long, and other Museum Member group benefits. Information on how to take advantage of these offers can be found on the Museum’s website.

LEVC PROTECTS AND PREPARES FOR PRODUCTION RESTART

• Phased re-opening of Ansty production facility starts 8th June • Protecting staff - over 100 new processes to ensure social distancing best practice • Protecting the community – over 100,000 masks donated to local NHS hospitals • Protecting journeys - TX purpose-built features enable safe social distancing while travelling Ansty, 3rd June 2020: London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC) begins a phased return to work on the 8th June at its Ansty manufacturing facility. As the company re-starts production of its TX elec-

tric taxi and moves into the next prototype phase of VN5 electric van build, a new way of working has been implemented at Ansty. More than 100 new processes have been put in place at the state-of-

the-art electrical vehicle factory in Ansty to ensure the safety and well being of all staff upon their return to work. This includes controlled entrance and exit procedures with thermal imaging, one-way

systems, staggered break times and structured revised seating plans. In production areas, Perspex separators have also been introduced and face masks are being provided.

This will involve looking at new and more effective ways to ensure those colleagues who might not have regular access to internal intranets, staff briefings, mobiles, apps and webinars – which may include porters, cleaners, agency, shift workers and support staff - also receive regular information updates on Covid-19 and the precautions they should be taking to protect themselves and others. It comes as part of an additional drive to reduce the risk of contracting the virus among NHS staff, and particularly those identified at additional risk. Every NHS employer across England – from ambulance services to hospital trusts and community teams - are being supported to immediately review their communications efforts and make adjustments where necessary to ensure that they reach every member of staff that they need to. A number of trusts across England have already undertaken innovative approaches to this, and NHS England and Improvement is pulling together this good practice as well as working with a range of partners including, voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations to help others to do so. This includes working with the health service’s digital delivery arm NHSX on providing information in alternative and accessible formats, and also ensuring widespread access to support including

Other tailored trust support and case studies in development include:

A dedicated app for peer-to-peer support * A diverse forum created to deal with raising concerns along with reviewing lessons learned * Development of inclusive and supportive approaches to PPE education with a PPE helper scheme * Strategies taken on deploying risk assessment across hospitals, primary care and small GP practices British Sign Language. The heightened awareness around communications materials and advice is especially vital for temporary and agency staff and those from BAME backgrounds, who are currently over-represented among those who have died from complications of coronavirus. Prerana Issar, NHS Chief People Officer, said: “It’s essential that every single NHS colleague has access to information that will help keep them safe. Employers need to take particular care to reach those with less access to internal communications such as porters, cleaners, agency and shift workers, as well as colleagues who don’t speak English as a first language”. Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust has been hailed for tackling awareness head on with bespoke communications, tips and action cards aimed at porters, cleaners and catering staff which are displayed in wards, on poster sites and communal staffing areas. The organisation worked with its Black Asian Minority Ethnic staff network to ensure accessibility for a range of staff by producing infographic action cards for housekeepers, ward hosts and porters on a range of issues. Information aimed at 5,000 colleagues, especially those in support service roles

and individuals who do not speak English as a first language, are available, covering effective cleaning and decontamination of patient’s rooms, safety guidelines for transferring patients with COVID-19 and working in communal and high risk acute areas. Hand hygiene advice is also provided for during transfers at the commencement of shifts, before and after work breaks and at the end of shift rotas. Ashley Flores, Nurse Consultant and Deputy Director of Infection Prevention, Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust said: “Producing the Action cards was a great opportunity to communicate information about the COVID-19 to the Facilities team. We very much appreciate all the hard work undertaken by hostesses, housekeepers and porters, and their important contribution to the control of infection. It is hoped that the action cards were useful in providing succinct guides on certain aspects of their work, to enhance safety for staff and patients.” NHS South East has also launched a new Covid-19 BAME Disparity Work Programme and Advisory Group to ensure robust risk assessments are carried out. In addition each of the six systems in the region has developed plans describing how they are responding to disparities across both the BAME workforce and the com-

munities they serve. Once reviewed, recommendations and best practice methods will be shared across the system. In London, the Chelsea and Westminster Foundation Trust has ensured all 600 of its portering and cleaning staff, employed through a facility service provider (ISS), are given the same level of protection, training and care as those directly employed by the NHS. The Trust worked alongside ISS to provide PPE training. The Trust has tried to ensure that every member of staff entering the Intensive Treatment Unit (ITU) has undergone a risk assessment and has the right level of training on PPE, approved by ISS. Additionally, the Trust’s senior executive team have all spent time on the Covid-19 ITU, allowing leaders to see emerging issues, engage with staff and respond to concerns. Staff have also been given the opportunity to put questions to Chief Nurse Pippa Nightingale during Infection, Prevention and Control training sessions, looking at the use of PPE, handwashing and environmental risks. Thomas Simons, Director of Human Resources & Organisational Development at the trust, said: “Porters and cleaners are critical members of our team, working alongside our clinicians and other trust staff every single day. When Covid-19 hit, we quickly recognised these staff would be entering the trust’s Intensive Therapy Units multiple times each day. By taking an inclusive approach in partnership with our staff supplier, these colleagues know what they need to do to manage risks of transmission, and keep themselves, their colleagues, and our patients safe from harm.”

NHS England and NHS Improvement publish the number of patients who have died in hospital and tested positive for Covid-19 in England. Since Tuesday 28 April, NHS England and NHS Improvement also reports the number of patient deaths where there has been no Covid-19 positive test result, but where Covid-19 is documented as a direct or underlying cause of death on part 1 or part 2 of the death certification process. This change has been introduced for deaths that occurred on 24 April and subsequently. This means the NHS England and NHS Improvement data collection provides information on all Covid-19 related (suspected and confirmed) deaths in England hospitals. In first week of June, 31 deaths are reported with no positive Covid-19 test result. PUBLIC INQUIRY NEEDED Time is running out to apply OVER BAME WORKER for Discretionary Business Grant Payments DEATHS, DEMANDS GMB Higher mortality rates linked to poverty, Public Health England investigation finds GMB, Britain’s general union, has spoken out following Public Health England’s delayed publication of its investigation into the discriminatory impact of the coronavirus outbreak. GMB represents tens of thousands of workers in occupations that Public Health England said today had the highest rates of excess deaths, including care, nursing, security, and professional driving. The review said that higher infection and mortality rates in BAME communities could be attributed to poor housing conditions, lower incomes, occupations with higher risk profiles, inadequate access to public services, and a greater risk of underlying health conditions. [1] Rehana Azam, GMB National Secretary, said: “Matt Hancock has lost valuable time by commissioning a report on facts that were already in the public domain. “Either Black and Minority Ethnic lives matter or they don’t, and Ministers have lost valuable time in commissioning a report that doesn’t set out how working lives are to be protected. “This report confirms what we already knew – BAME workers have made a disproportionate sacrifice during this pandemic.

Almost 900 businesses have applied to be considered for Discretionary Grant Payments during the opening week of applications, with less than one week left for outstanding requests to be submitted. Birmingham City Council will use money provided by the Government to support small businesses, including sole traders and self-employed, who have been adversely affected by Covid-19, but who did not qualify for the original Small Business or Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grants.

“In the context of global events, with the spotlight on structural and institutional racism, the publication of this report which carries no recommendations is just going to heighten distrust of the claim that all lives matter to the government. “People are dying and Ministers have been too slow to protect lives. “They say that this virus doesn’t discriminate, but the response to this virus and the lives it has taken most definitely experienced a discrimination that ended in their deaths. “No plan is in place that gives confidence that the government is going to protect lives of people disproportionately impacted by this terrible disease. That’s why GMB has joined the call for an independent public inquiry into the government’s response.”

Cllr Ian Ward, Leader of Birmingham City Council, said: “These grants are being offered as a lifeline to businesses in desperate need of financial support; the money doesn’t need to be repaid and is there to help. Whilst handing out money may seem unprecedented; it is in direct response to unprecedent circumstances so should not be dismissed. The grants, which will be up to £25,000, will be prioritised for small businesses in shared offices or flexible workspaces, bed and breakfasts which pay council tax and regular market traders with fixed business costs. Priority will also be given to charity

properties in receipt of charitable business rates relief. Cllr Ian Ward further said “Businesses only have one week left to take advantage of this opportunity and submit an application for consideration. Time is running out and I would urge anyone who has not yet looked into the criteria to do so quickly or risk missing out on this altogether.” Before applying for a Discretionary Grant Payment, businesses should first check if they are eligible to automatically receive either the Small Business or Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grants as they will not be entitled to both.

If they do decide to proceed with a Discretionary Grant Payment, businesses should review the information on the website and ensure they provide all required evidence with their application to avoid processing delays. When considering allocating the Discretionary Grant Payments, the council will consider whether the businesses has had to close or reduce its trading; what are the commercial fixed costs of the business and what is the scale of impact on the business. Businesses have until midday on 15 June to submit their application online.

Local companies come together to help support the West Midlands PPE supply

After issuing a call to arms to business to help supply or manufacture PPE, the WMCA has teamed up with Medilink WM, the region’s industry association for the life sciences and medical technology sectors and the WMAHSN’s link to the wider industry, who have been supporting the recruitment of suitable businesses.

The West Midlands Academic Health Science Network (WMAHSN) and the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) have joined forces to help support the region’s Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) supply during the current COVID-19 pandemic. Two of many businesses that came forward were Autins Group PLC, specialists in providing materials and products for acoustic and thermal management solutions, and Contechs Holdings Ltd, a T1 automotive design, development & trimming consultancy. Both companies were exploring how manufacturing capabilities, facilities and skills could be used to address the issue of supplying PPE products but thanks to the WMAHSN, industrial gateway team they are now working collaboratively. Initially, Autins was manufacturing face masks utilising its skills and knowledge of specialist acoustic and insulation materials and Contechs was supporting specialist workwear companies with preparing material to produce scrubs, using its large cutting platform. Both these companies would have had to furlough all, or the majority of their staff and their manufacturing technology would otherwise have been dormant due to the shutdown of the automotive sector was it not for this work. Chris Dyke, Connectivity Manager at Medilink WM, the WMAHSN industry gateway organisation, said: “The COVID-19 pandemic has meant that a lot of organisations have had to explore new ways of working and that WMAHSN had to call upon the region’s businesses to help keep our healthcare workforce safe. Not only have we been successful in finding organisations via the WMCA Challenge that can help with this, but we have also managed to link two businesses together that will benefit from each other’s knowledge and expertise long-term.” Andy Street, the Mayor of the West Midlands and chair of the WMCA, said: “It is great to see two local companies with no prior experience of PPE manufacturing coming together to help support the West Midlands during this difficult time. “I know these are just two of many businesses across the region who answered our call to arms, and the response from organisations looking to help has been brilliant to see.”

Since being linked together by WMAHSN, the two organisations have now been working together on manufacturing face masks. Autins is continuing to produce

the face masks while Contechs has been subcontracted and is using sewing and trimming expertise to finalise and attach ear loops to the masks.

Following the two automotive companies being introduced, Autins and Contechs are in talks to collaborate on other areas of work within the automotive

sector post-Covid-19. The two companies are located just 20 miles apart and are exploring ways to combine industry knowledge, skills and expertise.

Speaking about the appeal, Dr. Nik Kotecha OBE commented: “We’re especially pleased to be partnering with the British Asian Trust to help some of the millions of people across South Asia who have suffered a catastrophic loss of jobs and income because of the Covid19 lockdown. These people have left the cities to return home, often walking hundreds of miles by foot to reach rural villages, with no access

ITALIAN PARLIAMENT -ARIANS DEMANDED THE ARREST OF BILL GATES

The coronavirus outbreak has led to several conspiracy theories that are doing rounds on the internet. Many countries and people have held Bill Gates responsible for the outbreak of this deadly disease.

Recently, Italian politician Anna Cunial on the house floor accused Bill Gates for

the coronavirus outbreak. Moreover, she demanded the arrest of Bill Gates as she believes that Bill Gates is a proponent of population reduction and this deadly disease would serve its purpose. Furthermore, she said that he has dictatorial plans. He is aiming to control the population of the world through the insertion of nanochips under the disguise of vaccination. Cunial’s claims seem to fit in with Mikovits own allegations, implying a powerful deep state government that Gates himself control. Moreover, she fully agrees to the news circulating on social media that Bill possesses the “Patent” for SARS-COV2 – an infection that wasn’t found until January 2020. The theory suggests that the whole purpose of the outbreak of this disease

is to create a need for a vaccine which will benefit Gates and will serve his ill purpose. She pointed fingers to the Event-201 – a rehearsal to deal with pandemics conducted at Davos Switzerland by the John Hopkins Centre for Health Security in partnership with the World Economic Forum and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. She cast doubts about the event. She also quoted Bill Gates, who said at the event that if we properly do our job related to vaccine, health and reproduction, we can successfully reduce the population of the world by 10-15%. Gates vaccine and drugs have sterilized millions of African women and polio epidemic caused by Gates paralyzed 500,000 children in India.

Dutch researchers are recommending that people supplement with Vitamin-K to protect against Covid-19 after discovering a link between deficiency and the worst Coronavirus outcomes. The researchers made the discovery after studying data on patients who were admitted to the Canisius Wilhelmina hospital in the Dutch city of Nijmegen. They say that vitamin K could combat two dangerous feature of Covid-19 – blood clotting, and degradation of elastic fibres in the lungs. Vitamin K, ingested through food or in supplement form and absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, is vital in the production of proteins that regulate clotting and can protect against lung disease. The Dutch research, undertaken in partnership with the Cardiovascular Research Institute Maastricht, one of Europe’s largest heart and vascular research

institutes, studied 134 patients hospitalised for Covid-19 between 12 March and 11 April, alongside a control group of 184 age-matched patients who did not have the disease. The researchers now want to secure funding for a clinical trial in which very sick Covid-19 patients were randomised to receive either a placebo or a vitamin K supplement as sufficient dose to activate the protective protein. Dr Rob Janssen, a scientist working on the project, said: “We are in a terrible, horrible situation in the world. We do have an intervention which does not have any side effects, even less than a placebo. There is one major exception: people on anti-clotting medication. It is completely safe in other people. “My advice would be to take those vitamin K supplements. Even if it does not help against severe Covid-19, it is good for your blood vessels, bones and probably also for the lungs.”

Horror As Pregnant Elephant Dies In Agony After Being Fed Explosives

Indian police have arrested a plantation worker and are hunting two others after the animal died in the southern state of Kerala. Shocking footage shows the 15-year-old elephant standing in the river for hours as it slowly became weaker due to serious injuries to its mouth and trunk. Police arrested a plantation worker, known as P. Wilson, on Friday after he allegedly placed fruits filled with explosives to keep target wild animals, mainly boars, to keep them away from his rubber plantation. Surendra Kumar, Kerala’s chief wildlife warden, told AFP: “The man has admitted that they used the explosive-filled coconuts to target the wild animals.” Offficers said they are hunting two of his associates. Elephants are a protected animal under wildlife laws in India meaning if convicted the man face up to seven years in jail. Mr Kumar said the men made several “coconut bombs”, which they discarded near plantation boundary in May. It remains unknown when exactly the elephant ate the fruit but the animal was found injured on May 25 and died two days later. It is thought to have died after sustaining severe injuries to its mouth from the explosions, which meant it could not eat or drink for days. The horrifying death sent shockwaves through India, home to nearly 30,000 elephants.

US blogger Cynthia Ritchie has accused Pakistani politicians for her rape

Front Cover Story Cont’d... The summons have been issued in connection with the ongoing feud between PPP and Ritchie which seemed to have begun with her “slanderous” remarks against Benazir Bhutto, but what the blogger claims likely stem from “dirt” she has on the party. PPP District president in Islamabad, Advocate Shakeel Abbasi, in a conversation with Geo News said that the sessions judge was approached after the FIA did not file a case against Ritchie for her remarks against the late PPP leader. “Cynthia Ritchie, FIA and the Islamabad SSP have been summoned on my request under Section 22-A [of the Code of Criminal Procedure],” he said. According to the CrPC, the Justice of Peace is a district and sessions judge or an additional district and sessions judge nominated by the former assigned the additional task of keeping peace in the area. The judge “on receipt of information of the occurrence of any incident involving a breach of the peace or of the commission of any offence within such local area” will make inquiries into the matter. His powers extend to handling complaints, issuance of recommendations to the duty police officers regarding registration of criminal cases, and transfer of investigation from one officer to another. Ritchie’s letter to FIA Meanwhile, contents of a letter Ritchie wrote to the FIA after a complaint was filed against her by the PPP, have emerged. “I am a freelancer and pay taxes to FBR and report my income to IRS in USA. I am not on government payroll. I take projects (such as KP Dept of Archaeology/ Engro/and some cleared NGOS) as matters of personal and professional interest,” she wrote, adding that she has been in Pakistan for “10+ years”. She said she has been working on an “investigative film”. “To be fair, I’ve wanted to do a documentary on Bilawal as a potential future leader. I have no interest in fighting PPP,” Ritchie said. Last week, the PPP advocate had moved a complaint with the FIA’s cybercrime wing against Ritchie for her “slanderous” remarks against late party leader Benazir Bhutto.

By Syed Tauqeer Zaidi

“Through this application, it is brought to your notice that a woman, who goes by the name of Cynthia D Ritchie on Twitter has passed extremely derogatory and slanderous remarks about Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, through her Twitter handle/account,” the letter dated May 28 read. “Her remarks being false, untrue, defamating and slanderous as they are, have caused immense pain and agony to the millions across Pakistan who revere and hold Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto in high esteem,” it said. “Your office is requested to take immediate action and initiate proceedings against this woman as prescribed by the law and under your mandate. A photocopy of the tweet, a true portrayal of her sick and disgusting mind is attached with the application,” the letter added.

Ritchie-PPP spat takes dark turn A day earlier, Ritchie made explosive claims, accusing former interior minister Rehman Malik of raping her; in a video broadcast live on Facebook. She also accused former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gillani and federal minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin of “physically manhandling” her at a separate occasion. The US blogger further claimed she was a victim of cyber harassment by various members and supporters of the PPP. Malik has vehemently denied the accusation, terming it “baseless, shameful, and inappropriate”. The PPP leader’s spokesman, in a statement, said that the purpose behind the US blogger’s allegations was to damage the reputation of Malik. “The US woman made the inappropriate allegations against Rehman Malik upon the instigation of a certain individual or a

group,” said the spokesman on behalf of the former interior minister. Gillani, too, has flatly denied the allegations. “Can a prime minister ever commit such an act at the Aiwan-e-Sadr?” “What was the lady levelling such accusations doing at the Aiwan-e-Sadr?” he continued, adding: “Who gave her the right to accuse politicians like this?” He said responding to such statements would be “contemptuous”. He noted that Ritchie had recently levelled several accusations at former Pakistani prime minister and late party leader Benazir Bhutto and “no one can tolerate such accusations”. “I am not worried about what was said about me. I am more concerned about the baseless accusations levelled at Shaheed Benazir,” Gillani said.

HOSPITAL IN INDIA SEGREGATING HINDU AND MUSLIM PATIENTS

Concerns have been expressed by a US congressional panel over the segregation of Muslims and Hindu patients of coronavirus at a Hospital in India. Patients were assigned wards for confirmed and suspected COVID-19 cases according to their religious beliefs. This happened at the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital in Gujarat state, as indicated by a report in The Indian Express paper. Dr Gunvant H Rathod, the medical

superintendent at the hospital, was cited as saying: “By and large, there are discrete wards for male and female patients in India. But here, separate wards have been made for Muslim and Hindu patients. The doctor told that it was the decision of government when he was inquired as to why patients were being isolated based on faith. This statement was later denied by Gujarat authorities. Gujarat has an ongoing history of rifts between the two op-

posite religious communities. The state has witnessed some of the most barbaric uproars in India’s modern history. It is pertinent to mention that Narendra Modi was the state’s Chief Minister at that time. Similar conflicts were once again seen in February this year. Tensions flared up once again after the outbreak of coronavirus when a large number of Muslims were tested positive after they attended an event organised by an Islamic group.

The US Committee on International Religious Freedom tweeted that it was deeply concerned over the separation of Hindu Muslim wards in Gujarat. Such acts would only further escalate the tensions between religious groups, the body said. The state government, on the other hand, denied the allegations, saying no such segregation based on faith is being done in the hospital and said that the government would enquire about the matter.

Supreme Court of Pakistan has directed the government to open all markets and shopping centres the nation over. Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed said that Individuals will suffer and bite the dust of yearning even if they endure Covid-19 if the business activities are not resumed across the country. His comments came during the hearing of a suo moto case regarding the steps taken by the government to battle the coronavirus pandemic. Pakistan has somewhat lifted the restrictions and eased the lockdown on May 11 and permitted shops, businesses and small markets to open however it didn’t permit shopping centres to open. During the court hearing, Chief Justice questioned the reason behind the decision of keeping malls and shopping centres closed. The Chief Justice has directed the government to open shopping malls even during the

weekends. The court stated in its order that it didn’t find any valid reason behind the closure of businesses on Saturday and Sunday, as the entire days of the week are same. The Supreme Court also questioned the reason behind spending so much money on coronavirus, which is not even a pandemic in Pakistan. The court has asked the NDMA to give valid reasons as to why such a large sum of money is being spent to manage the coronavirus emergency when there are so many other issues and ailments to deal with.

Two officials from Pakistan’s embassy in New Delhi were declared “persona non grata” and given 24 hours to leave the country. The Indian external affairs minister said a special cell of Delhi Police reported that officials of the Pakistani mission were detained on Sunday. The police alleged the officials were trying to obtain classified materials on Indian security establishments. The three men had been under surveillance for the past few months, the officials said. One Indian official told the Hindustan Times: “They were caught red-handed while obtaining documents on the Indian security establishment from an Indian national and handing over cash and an iPhone to him. The three men initially claimed they were Indians and even produced fake cards, the official said. The official added: “Later, during interrogation, they confessed they were officials at the Pakistan high commission and worked for Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence.” A statement issued by the Indian

external affairs ministry, without naming the detained men, said: “Two officials of the high commission of Pakistan in New Delhi were apprehended on Sunday by Indian law enforcement authorities for indulging in espionage activities.” The statement added that the government declared both these officials “persona non grata for indulging in activities incompatible with their status as members of a diplomatic mission and asked them to leave the country

within twenty-four hours” Pakistan’s charge d’affaires was issued a demarche or formal diplomatic representation. Islamabad issued a strong protest was lodged about the “activities of these officials of the high commission of Pakistan against India’s national security”. India and Pakistan are in conflict over Kashmir which was split between them in 1947 when they gained independence from the UK. The two countries have fought

three wars against each other since independence, including two over Kashmir. Tensions have escalated after New Delhi scrapped the Muslim-majority Himalayan region’s semi-autonomous status and imposed a curfew last year. Rebel groups in Indian-administered Kashmir have battled for decades for the region’s independence or its merger with Pakistan. India has more than 500,000 troops stationed in Kashmir.

UK state Top 3 Online Distribution Challenges pensions for Independent Hoteliers

The state pension can be received once a person reaches state pension age. In order to get the payment, it must be claimed – otherwise the state pension is seen as being deferred. The state pension itself is taxable, meaning that it counts in terms of Income Tax. The standard Personal Allowance is £12,500, and this means that taxable income of up to this amount does not need to be paid tax on. However, it may be that a person has a different Personal Allowance. For example, this can change if a person opts to claim Marriage Allowance, or if they get Blind Person’s Allowance. READ MORE: Tax code 1250L: This is when you will start paying Income Tax Alternatively, the Personal Allowance may be smaller or reduced to zero for people who have income of more than £100,000. Some people who have reached state pension age may be able to claim another payment – an income-related benefit. This is known as Pension Credit, and it is made up of two parts: Guarantee Credit and Savings Credit. A person needs to have reached Pension Credit qualifying age in order to claim it. DON’T MISS Guarantee Credit tops up the weekly amount if it below £173.75 for single people or £265.20 for couples. It may be that a person can get this even if they have savings, a pension, or their own home. Savings Credit is an additional payment for people who saved some money towards their retirement, such as a pension for example. It may be that a person is not eligible for Savings Credit if they reached state pension age on or after April 6, 2016. The Higher rate applies to taxable income ranging between £50,001 to £150,000. The tax rate for this band is 40 percent. The final tax band is the Additional rate, and this applies to taxable income of more than £150,000. For this tax band, the tax rate is 40 percent.

The increasing number of accommodation providers and emerging new technologies make the online distribution landscape quite a dynamic one. In order to adapt to the new challenges, many independent hoteliers started using software solutions such as Cloud Hotel Software. But can independent hoteliers properly put such a software solution to use without previously being aware of the challenges that await them? We are here to help you. Here are the 3 online distribution challenges independent hoteliers have to address in a proper way. Finding the Perfect Online Booking Site We are aware of the fact that independent hoteliers are not so happy about having to partner up with online booking sites. When we look at the stats regarding global hotel room shopping trends, it becomes more than clear that metasearch sites and OTAs are the preferred methods of booking. Since you may be wondering why is this so, lets us quickly elaborate. Online booking sites generate huge amounts of qualified traffic they dominate all major search engines. Your official website simply can’t compete with them. So what are your options? If you decide to partner up with an OTA agency, you have to closely inspect their customers and see if demographics and customer profiles align with your target audience. The most important factors to consider are: – The region that the specific OTA serves – Which demographics they attract – In which specific traveling industry niche does the OTA specialize in The other option is to implement hotel booking channel manager software. This solution will help you connect your hotel with dozens of travel booking sites, vacation rentals, online travel agents, and so on. With the help of this software, you will be able to streamline your booking efforts, prevent inconveniences due to overbookings, and tap into the power of market analysis. Big Data Analysis Online distribution channels generate a huge amount of data over time. The next big challenge is – how to collect this data and analyze it in a timely and efficient manner. This is another reason why many hoteliers fall back when it comes to using cloud-based hotel management software. Thanks to easy online channel integration, this software allows hoteliers to monitor their performance on online channels. In addition, thanks to real-time monitoring, hoteliers have this amazing opportunity to optimize performance as well. For instance, you can decide which channels to keep open and which ones to close in specific scenarios. Hotel booking channel

manager software will not only help you monitor and gather relevant data, but also analyze it, and display meaningful charts and reports. With access to the all-in-one system, you will be able to make accurate and data-driven decisions, attract more guests and increase profits. Here are some of the data structures that you will find helpful: – An insight into the customer journey – in order to manage your accommodations properly, you have to find out how far in advance do your guests book their rooms. And not only that, but also what is their preferred channel. – The length of stay – this is another important thing to factor in. You will be able to see how many guests each channel generates and how long do they stay in your hotel. – Room types booking pattern – Easily discover patterns in the guests’ booking process and optimize your offer to attract more guests and increase profits. Fine Tuning Your Direct Channel You are probably aware that if you completely rely on the booking sites, you will be exposing your venture to a lot of risks. What if your dominant online chan-

nel runs into some kind of trouble? Or, what if business is so good that your most fruitful booking site decides to pump up commissions? This is why you should never forget about optimizing your direct channel. At the same time, this is the third major online distribution challenge. What should you do? Make it very easy for the potential guests that arrive on your website to book accommodations and find the information they need. Marriott’s “It pays to book direct” campaign is a great example of this. Fortunately, cloud hotel software comes with an easy to use integrated booking system allowing you to make booking available directly on your website. Thanks to integration to booking websites, the data is regularly updated. This prevents overbookings and serves your potential guests with fresh data. As you can see, while each one of these challenges is unique, all of them can be addressed by implementing cloud-based hotel management software. You will get full control over your online distribution channels. More importantly, you will have an insight into real-time data and you will be able to make datadriven decisions.

The Institute of Directors (IoD) said a quarter of members using the government’s furlough scheme could go bust if forced to make any contributions at all. Jonathan Geldart, the IoD directorgeneral said: “Business leaders know that the government’s support can’t be infinite. “But the ugly truth is that if there’s no money coming in the door, many firms will be forced to make difficult decisions come August. “The government must soften the blow by introducing as much flexibility as possible into the furlough system. The more flexible the scheme is, the better firms can recover, and the fewer jobs will rely on state subsidy. “Being able to bring people back parttime will help a lot of companies, but there are other changes business leaders would like to see, such as reducing the minimum furlough period.”

What the Exhibition Stands of the Future might look like

Event organisers have been frantically coming together to find a solution to physical events. For a while we were all talking about digital events. There were whispers amongst industry experts, some who thought our field would thrive online and others who saw no point in trying. Now it has become clear that industry events will be back. But not without some essential changes. Health and safety is the number one priority at the moment, no matter what industry you are working in. Social distancing protocols are being followed worldwide which raised concerns about whether or not we would see events return. Mass gatherings were banned in the early days of the pandemic. Slowly but surely we are seeing restrictions lift, allowing people to meet individuals from other households and enjoy outdoor activities together. Despite lifting restrictions, there were still questions to be asked about the possibility of hosting mass gatherings such as B2B events. The purpose of an exhibition is finding new businesses, products and customers which typically involves an element of face-to-face communication. That’s why industry-specific events are so popular. Businesses have a unique opportunity to position themselves in front of a highly targeted audience and prove that they’re human in a physical environment. No other marketing strategy offers these unique benefits. It will come as no surprise to you the great relief event organisers, venues, suppliers, exhibitors and all the other businesses involved in the supply chain felt when Germany announced that they would not be classing exhibitions as mass gatherings. We could see exhibition venues hosting events again in the next few weeks. Germany is the exhibiting capital

of the world. Globally recognised venues such as Messe Dusseldorf and Hanover Fairground host international events such as CeBIT, attracting visitors from all over the world. When they decided to prioritise reopening trade shows, we knew our industry was going to survive. Since that announcement, UFI has released a global framework outlining how we can reopen B2B events post the emergence from Covid-19. Recognising the beneficial economic and social factors, the framework suggests that each event is assessed according to its type – rather than a capped total number of people. Of course, there are lots of things that must be considered. One way systems, queues, hand sanitizing stations and temperature monitoring are all included on the list. One of the biggest changes will be for the visitors who will be given a time slot to arrive and may be turned away from the event if they aren’t deemed to be in a role of seniority. Given the current situation in supermarkets, these changes won’t come as a huge surprise. If anything, exhibiting under these conditions may be more pleasurable than previous events where organisers desperately crammed attendees into a hall. The question you should be asking is this: What are the Exhibition Stands of the Future going to look like? Gone are the days of branded freebies, marketing literature and handshakes. Quadrant2Design have been imagining an all-new exhibition stand. A stand that encourages social distancing whilst getting your products in front of as many people as possible. And this is what it is going to look like. Firstly, everyone was right when they said that events were going to have to become a virtual affair. But not in the way that they thought.

Without handshaking, lanyards, marketing literature and freebies the way that we interact with delegates is going to have to change. There will be an increased need for integrated audio-visual elements on every exhibition stand. Digital screens and tablets may be the most effective way to provide product demonstrations, collect data and even host virtual meetings. Secondly, the need to create a popup environment will be incremental. With one way systems and 2-meter social distancing policies in place, visitors will not interact with exhibition stands in the same way. Why would they stand in a queue, following the floor markings, to go and read a pull-up banner or wall poster? Exhibition stand suppliers will have to get more creative when it comes to the design, manufacturing and installation of every exhibit. Each stand will become a mini-event in its own right. Visitors can move through the exhibition stand, looking at products and descriptions whilst immersing themselves in your brand. There is going to be an increased need for creativity. Finally, the way we interact with each other is going to change. No more booth babes or overly chirpy salesmen targeting vulnerable members of the crowd. This simply won’t be an option. Instead, visitors will have to approach you if they want more information. One concept of this shows an exhibition stand with a reception area. Delegates approach the reception area to book a slot with one of the members of staff. Everything is done in a controlled, sanitized environment with plastic sheets separating the sales team from the visitors. Essentially, recreating an office environment on the exhibition floor. And that is our prediction for the future of exhibition stands. Currently,

15

we know that sanitization policies and social distancing are going to be key to relaunching any events. As for exhibition stands, we’ll just have to wait and see.

The Skinkissed face serum is easy to use as all you need to do is simply apply and smooth 1-3 drops of the serum onto a cleansed and toned face. Allow the serum to fully absorb into the skin and then you can apply any moisturiser or creams of your choice.

I was kindly sent the flawless face serum and I couldn’t wait to try this. As my face is sensitive and dry, I always found it hard to find the right product that would stop me from breaking out and leave my skin feeling hydrated and young. Once I tried the Skinkissed face serum I immediately noticed a difference to my skin, the product easily ab-

sorbed into my skin and it left my face looking bright, soft and hydrated. I’ve been using this product for a few weeks and I’ve noticed that my acne scars have disappeared, and my skin always feels fresh and young. I would defiantly recommend this product to anyone as I believe Skinkissed flawless face serum is the key to beautiful and fresh-looking skin. The price for the flawless serum is £24.95 which is a fantastic deal and you can even order up to five months’ supply, so you never have to run out. Skinkissed also sell a variety of other products such as facial cleansers, eye patches, moisturising creams, vitamin gummies as well as brightening bundles and skincare kits. UK bhangra star reconnects with Sikh faith in BBC religion series One of the UK’s biggest bhangra acts Jaz Dhami has spoken of reconnecting with his faith during lockdown. In one of a series of religious reflections on BBC Local Radio, he said his Sikh faith had become a “pillar for direction, stability and focus during these weird times”. Many know Jaz – real name Jasvinder Singh Dhami – for his collaboration with top Indian rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh on the track ‘High Heels’ which has been viewed more than 150 million times on YouTube. Speaking on the broadcast, airing on BBC Local Radio stations this Sunday, he said: “However unusual and unsettling this current situation is, I’ve been able to draw inspiration from these teachings and it’s from a period in my life where you could say I learnt the full meaning of discipline through my education with music. “I’d spend countless hours, days and weeks reciting just one Raga or one Shabad. “I kind of lost that sense of discipline through the fast pace of my life but this lockdown has enabled me to revisit that time.” The reflation will feature on 14 BBC Local Radio stations at 5.50am on Sunday. It will be available afterwards on BBC Sounds.

HEALTH THIS SMALL DEVICE COULD BE A REVOLUTION FOR CANCER TREATMENT

The fight against cancer is one of those battles that science can not win in their entirety, that although there are several methods to combat it, to predict its occurrence and non-invasive treatment are still pending is-

sues. Meanwhile, die each year about eight million people in the world due to some form of cancer. Because of this, researchers have devised various treatments based on the use of

chemotherapy and radiation, very aggressive methods for the human body, but to this day are the only proven way to eliminate cancerous tumors. An important part of this knows the efficiency of treatment, and this

is where MIT is an important project that could lead to the use and proper choice of better cancer treatment. The key is to know the efficiency of treatment immediately Today, the only way we have to know whether a treatment is working is based on MRI to determine the size of the tumor, or by pathological examination of tissue obtained by biopsy, the latter being the most risky and invasive. But these methods just give us data how tumor reacted to the treatment, this month after having booted into it, with all the risks that this entails, since if no favorable response needs to change treatment. Now researchers from the department of Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at MIT have developed a small biochemical sensor that is implanted in the tumor or cancerous tissue during the first biopsy. The sensor will be able to send information about the tumor in real time to an external device, which will reveal immediately the response to treatment in order to continue or adjust it if necessary. This would significantly increase the response time, plus you do not need biopsy or MRI, the readings would be carried out in minutes and the results would be in maximum one hour. Michael Cima, engineering professor at the department of materials science and engineering at MIT Koch Institute, and who oversaw the development of the sensor, said: “We wanted to make a device that would give us a chemical signal of what is happening in the tumor, rather than waiting months to see if the tumor is shrinking, with this sensor could get an early read to see if it is moving in right direction”. This sensor is able to provide information on the levels of pH and oxygen dissolved in the tissue with cancer, this will help doctors adjust the appropriate dose of radiation, as tumors grow under conditions of low oxygen (hypoxia), so therefore, if the tumor has more hypoxia, you need more radiation. The sensor is covered by a biocompatible plastic and its size is small enough to fit in the biopsy needle. Inside it’s have 10 microliters of chemical contrast agents, the same as those used in MRI, as well as a coil for the reader and a second coil to sensor, the latter will be responsible for operating the transfer of information to the external reader through mutual inductance.

My fit life with Avi Samra

Quarantine & Fitness Are you keeping up with healthy habits during lock down? For many, the answer may be ‘no’. It isn’t easy is it? We are juggling home schooling, working from home, dealing with isolation, not being able to see loved ones and its all very overwhelming. So, working out and eating right may not be at the top of the priority list. Many of my friends who were going to the gym prior to lockdown have completely stopped any form of exercise because they gyms are closed. A lot of have ‘fallen off the wagon’ and are struggling to keep up with fitness at home. To be honest, I was the same during the first few days of lockdown. I was not exercising and eating all the snacks I could see! I soon realised that this is not the way I was going to spend lockdown. I decided that by the end of lockdown I would be healthier then I was at the start of lockdown. Why did I decide this? Two reasons, firstly, I’d been working hard getting my fitness back on track that I didn’t want all that hard work to go down the drain! Secondly, if there was ever a time to get fit and healthy it was NOW. Without mentioning the C word here, if we are fit and healthy we may have a better chance of fighting off any sort of illness. That is reason enough to keep exercising and eating healthy. For me, my days are incredibly busy. Juggling home schooling my 6 year old and a 1 year old as well as everything else. I created a schedule for myself, nothing to rigorous, just a rough plan of each day. I began exercising at the same time every day. Soon, the kids just got used to me exercising and even my 1 year old would let me just get on with it! To make things

easier I started to eat the same breakfast and lunch pretty much every day because they were easy meals and contained the right about of carbs and protein I needed. So even during a busy day, I’d always be eating right. A well balanced diet is key to being healthy. I purchased some resistant bands to use and have also been following some workout programmes. As well as this I managed to get my pole installed before lockdown! I’m a beginner pole fit dancer so I’ve been able to keep this up at home which has been fantastic. For those who love the gym, yes its not the same working out at home but its better to do something than do nothing. Through my social media I’ve had people reach out asking for advice and I love that I’ve been able to help people. When my friends and family see me now (from afar of course) they are shocked at how much weight I’ve lost. Losing weight wasn’t my intention at all, my goal during lockdown was to become fitter and stronger and I’ve definitely achieved this. I always say ‘strong not skinny’! I’m always happy to help anyone who needs advice, you catch me on my Instagram @ avi_fitlife_polelife Make your health a priority. Be happy, be healthy!

Victims of domestic abuse reminded #YouAreNotAlone Government campaign reminds us that help and support remains available for victims of domestic abuse and their children The government is reminding victims of domestic abuse that police response and support services remain available for victims and their children during the coronavirus pandemic through the ongoing #YouAreNotAlone initiative. Domestic abuse includes physical, psychological, sexual, emotional and economic abuse and can be carried out not only by a partner or expartner, but also family members. Whoever the perpetrator and whatever form the domestic abuse takes, all domestic abuse is a crime. The campaign reassures victims of domestic abuse that they can still leave home to seek help during the COVID-19 pandemic, if this is possible. Anyone in immediate danger should call 999 and the police will respond. Anyone who is worried that they, or someone they know, may be experiencing domestic abuse can find support at gov.uk/domestic-abuse or by calling the freephone 24-hour national domestic abuse helpline being provided by Refuge on 0808 2000 247. For victims of domestic abuse who are concerned about their immigration status, the message is the same, you are not alone, police response and support services remain available for victims and their children. Natasha Rattu, Director at Karma Nirvana, an organisation which supports the victims of honour-based abuse and forced marriage said: “At the moment we are being asked to stay home as much as possible to keep ourselves and others safe, but we know that for some people, home isn’t necessarily the safe haven it should be. “In some Black and South Asian communities, people worry about bringing shame and losing family respect, which can prevent them from getting help. Honour abuse is a form of domestic abuse and can take many forms including forced marriages and female genital mutilation. Culture is never an excuse for abuse. We want people experiencing honour abuse to know that they deserve to live abuse free and that help is available.” “So, if you are living with someone who is hurting you, threatening you or doing anything that makes you feel scared, then it is really important you take action immediately. While it may seem a very difficult step to take, there is support out there for you.”

Find more support at gov.uk/domestic-abuse or call one of the following helplines: o The Freephone 24-hour National Domestic Abuse Helpline run by Refuge for victims in England: 0808 2000 247 o The 24-hour Live Fear Free helpline for domestic abuse victims in Wales: 0808 80 10 800 or text 078600 77 333. o The Men’s Advice line offers support for male victims of domestic abuse: 0808 801 0327. o The National Honour-Based Abuse helpline run by Karma Nirvana offers support to victims of “honour”-based abuse and forced marriage: 0800 5999 247. o The national FGM helpline, run by the NSPCC, offers guidance and support if you are concerned that someone has experienced, or may experience, FGM: 0800 028 3550. o The National LGBTQ+ helpline offers support for LGTBQ+ victims: 0800 999 5428

the glass of red wine and of course the bread! Eating slices of bread with butter and jam soaked in coffee in the morning, saucing your plate with it so as not to spoil anything, making yourself a ham and butter sandwich at lunchtime, these are daily actions that we French people love to do! Bread is one of the flagship foods of French gastronomy. I challenge you to sit at a table without being offered bread well before the arrival of the dish! Bread is part of French culture, there are many kinds: seeds, olives, bacon, cereals, etc.! The baguette remains one of the culinary symbols specific to France. Q.) Desserts are not a healthy food, but you are a chef who is popularly known to make a healthy dessert. What you have to say about it? Johanna - The era of excessively sweet pastry that rhymes with excess is over. It is now possible to taste well-being pastries using healthy products ,lower the quantity of sugar and fat. As a wellbeing pastry chef, I wish to transmit my philosophy of healthy eating.

By: Rida Khan ( Aviation Author )

Johanna Le Pape (Instagram A/c :- johanna.le.pape) is a Pastry Chef; who specializes in high - end healthy Pâtisserie, she comes from Ploemeur, a beautiful city in Britain, France. After having been trained in the largest Parisian palaces, she decided to open her own consulting company in 2015.This activity allows her to travel around the world to support start-ups or major brands to develop their pastry concept. This vocation of transmission has developed more and more in her, which is why she decided to open her own culinary workshop for individuals and companies in 2019 in Neuilly-sur-Seine. Q.) Share your experience when you won the world champion of the Sweet Arts 2014. Johanna - It was an amazing & unique experience. For 1 year, you have to be very focused on the objective and give the best of yourself. This adventure was the most rewarding experience of my life because it allowed me to strengthen my spirit of victory, rigor and excellence. For a year, Gaetan and I were coached by great pastry chefs, so we had to resist the constant but necessary pressure. A month before D-Day we carried out three white contests, which is quite substantial for a final stretch. Our victory was the consecration and the result of a year of intense and exciting work. Q.) When did you fall in love with cooking? Johanna - I have always loved watching my surroundings cook and bake. It was during an experience on the other side of the world that love at first sight with pastry took place. I spent a year in Australia to reconnect with myself and live a personal experience. In order to improve

my English, I found a job as a manager in a French pastry shop. I knew that fate had something to do with it. Seeing the pastry brigade making a multitude of pastry with impressive techniques gave me stars in the eyes. Q.) Why is the use of local ingredients so important in French cuisine? Johanna - France is one of the best countries for its Patisserie! We have many food resources allowing us to achieve special desserts. As a Pastry Chef or Cook it is necessary to stock up on them. In my opinion, it is essential to know where your product comes from, meet local producers directly on their farms to try their products. This allows maximum transparency between producers, the chef and customers. My culinary workshop works in collaboration with La Ruche qui dit Oui which offers the best local French products. Let us be proud of the local French products. Q.) France is known for more than 500 varieties of cheese, but French people have low heart diseases. Why? Johanna - French eats with the right bal-

ance. We used to balance our meal to have diversity in our plate. Cheese is a part of the culture and our traditional expertise. Two reasons which explain this diversity is: -We like to have plenty of taste -Each region has its own process & specialities Having more than 500 cheese doesn’t mean we eat large quantities. We choose to eat fine & small pieces at the end of most of the meal. Q.) What is the reason behind declaring French cuisine a world intangible heritage by UNESCO? Johanna - French cuisine is renowned

27

for its flavours, its audacity, its delicacy and its excellence. It represents the French identity, allows everyone to meet around meals to celebrate events or simply to spend a friendly moment! Each region has its own culinary specialty and in our culture it is a very important time to share with. Sharing recipes, revisiting certain dishes by adding personal touches allows the whole world to know the basics of this gastronomy. Q.) It’s very popular to have Tartine, bread, baguette by French people. Why? Johanna - It is true that in the French cliché we find the famous beret, the cheese,

Did you know that it is possible to make a cake without any butter or refined sugar but using zucchini and sweet potato? Our planet is full of amazing resources which we can have fun introducing to our diet! More and more people feel concerned for their diet, their health and realize many “healthy” recipes. Many chefs are looking to train in wellness recipe techniques to meet new customer expectations. It is quite possible to indulge in tasting a pastry without feeling guilty! SONY INDEFINITELY DELAYS PS5 GAMEPLAY REVEAL AMID FLOYD PROTESTS

Twitter Downloads Spike As Users Keep An Eye On National Stories Civil unrest involving protests related to the death of George Floyd as well as continued interest in the Covid-19 pandemic prompted a record number of people to download Twitter this week. Mobile app insights firm Apptopia said that Twitter on Wednesday topped its record for daily installs with 677,000

Bottom line: Twitter in Q1 reported 166 million daily active users, a 24 percent increase compared to the same period a year earlier. If Twitter can get a fraction of the newcomers to stick around after the news cycle moves on, that’d be a win for the microblogging platform.

downloads. Of those, a full 140,000 took place in the US. It may seem odd on first thought that domestic installs were lower than international installs but as TechCrunch correctly highlights, that’s just proof that the world is watching the events happening in the US with keen interest. Sensor Tower, a competing market intelligence outfit, said Twitter realized just over one million installs on Monday and nearly as many the following day. Regardless of which firm is closer on actual daily numbers, combined, it shows that it has been a very busy week for Twitter. The company is expected to report Q2 earnings on July 24. Given how 2020 has gone so far, it’s anyone’s guess as to what the landscape will look like two months from now.

Bottom line: It looks like we are going to have to wait to see what the PlayStation 5 can do. Sony was set to showcase some nextgen games in a few days, but with all the chaos in the streets, it has pulled the plug indefinitely on a PS5 gameplay reveal. Last week, Sony insiders leaked that the company was planning a big PlayStation 5 gameplay reveal set for this Wednesday. A couple of days later, the company confirmed the showing but said it would be happening on Thursday at 1pm Pacific. Today in a tweet, Sony rescinded its scheduled live stream of PS5 gameplay. Although it did not explicitly say the postponement was in light of the ongoing riots and protests, it seems clear that this is the cause. “While we understand gamers worldwide are excited to see PS5 games, we do not feel that right now is a time for celebration and for now, we want to stand back and allow more important voices to be heard,” the announcement read, implying that Sony did not want to distract from the protests going on over the George Floyd killing. This assumption is reinforced by an earlier PlayStation tweet sup-

porting Black Lives Matter and denouncing systemic racism. While I can understand the move to postpone the event, I find it unfortunate that Sony does not share something positive that encourages people to look forward. In a time when the year has been nothing but bad news, there is nothing wrong with a little entertaining distraction. Like the coronavirus before them, the protesters/rioters are not having any problems making themselves heard right now. Sony did not have a new date or even a timeframe for hosting the presentation. It appears from its statement that we will just have to wait for the (bad) news cycle to die down.

RYANAIR ATTACKS UK QUARANTINE PLANS Ryanair has branded the proposed 14-day quarantine to be introduced by UK authorities next week as “useless”. For a quarantine to be effective, inbound passengers arriving at ports and airports need to be detained at their point of arrival, the low-cost carrier said. The UK government, however, proposes to collect mobile phone numbers from inbound visitors but then allow them to travel onward. The measures are due to come into force from Monday. Hospitality businesses

have called for a rethink, warning the situation could economically ruinous. A spokesperson for Ryanair said: “This 14day UK quarantine is ineffective, completely useless, and will have no effect on British passengers who will largely ignore it. “At a time when the medical science across Europe, in countries such as Portugal, Spain, Italy and Germany, have safely removed all inbound visitor restrictions, the imposition of this completely defective quarantine in the UK is

utterly useless and a total waste of time.” The spokesperson continued: “For the UK to be imposing a 14-day quarantine on inbound visitors when it already has one of the worst Covid-19 infection and death rates in Europe, is closing the door long after the horse has bolted. “Most visitors to the UK from Europe are arriving from countries with a lower R rate than the UK, which renders this 14-day quarantine not just ineffective and useless, but far too little far too late.”

Storm wind hits chocked Qatar Airways Airplanes

An incident happened at Hamad International Airport where 2 planes were damaged due to storm. Qatar Airways B787-8 Dreamliner turned 90 degrees in a minute and started moving towards A350. In a seconds the nose of B787 -8 hit the fuselage of A350. Though the aircraft’s were planned securely and chocked at the airport but the storm winds gusting from 19 knots to 61 knots were so strong that they shifted B787 from its chocks and rolled it into A350.

When this incident occurred there were no passengers or crew on board at that time. So people were safe but there is a minor damage suffered by both the aircraft’s as it is noted that the nose of the plane contains lots of system in it. An empty B787-8 Dreamliner weighs around 10 tonnes and carry up to 254 passengers having a list price of about $US 250 million. A CAR FIT FOR A STAR: RESTORING KEVIN KEEGAN’S ONCE LOVED E-TYPE

One of Britain’s leading E-type restoration specialists, E-Type UK, has completed a complete period restoration on a glorious 1972 Series 3 V12 Roadster. Residing with a private owner in Middlesex, South East England, this vehicle was once owned by Liverpool and England Legend, Kevin Keegan OBE. Finished in period with a factory correct Jaguar Willow Green exterior and matching biscuit leather interior and hood, the car retained the same charm as when it rolled off the production line in 1972. The vehicle’s current owner approached E-Type UK to restore the vehicle to its former glory after suffering an unfortunate accident, which left the 70s classic battered and bruised. This once loved E-Type arrived at E-Type UK’s Kentbased facility for bodywork crash repair and a full respray in its original colour. E-Type UK’s dedicated team of restoration technicians set about restoring the bodywork damage sustained in the crash. Upon inspection, it was found that most of the damage was superficial and the chassis remained intact – much to the delight of the owner. All exterior metalwork was stripped down, removing all chrome and brightwork. It was once the car was fully stripped down that the full extent of the bodywork repair became apparent, as the Roadster had been subject to previous poor crash repairs throughout its life. The workshop team removed the poorly repaired offside sill and top scuttle, fitting new ones, before reshaping the vehicle’s bonnet back to its iconic curve. After the Series 3 had its metalwork repaired, restoring the glorious lines and curves synonymous with the E-Type, the car was then filled and primed ready for its respray. Restoring the seamless ‘70s lines, all panels were cleaned, hardened, and block-sanded in preparation for the subsequent respray. The owner’s priority with this project was to finish the car in its factory colour – Willow Green – maintaining its authenticity throughout. To achieve

this, the car underwent a long process of painstaking preparation to ensure the final result was a sparkling and even

finish. Once the exterior of the vehicle was completed, the interior leather was trimmed in biscuit with a matching mohair hood, complementing the exterior paint job to restore the vehicle to its celebrity status.

Once the car returned from spraying and trimming, the team embarked on the final steps of the restoration. In line with the owner’s wishes, final touches were made to the re-chromed exterior brightwork before fitting a range of minor upgrades – such as adding a period-style number plate, side mirrors, and factory standard steel wheels. Additionally, a stainless-steel sports exhausts and a 14” Motor-Lita steering wheel enhancing the driving experience of the V12 and sporty aesthetics.

E-Type UK Founder, Marcus Holland said: “We are particularly proud of this restoration and delighted with the way that it looks after spending time in our workshop. The owner was particularly upset after the car was involved in an accident and wanted us to restore it to its former glory. With its celebrity past due to Kevin Keegan’s former ownership, we worked hard to bring it back to factory standard, with a glorious Willow Green finish. Not only are we delighted to have delivered our client with his car back in perfect condition but we are honored to have played a part in the ongoing story of this iconic British sportscar.”
