Coronavirus: Test & Trace explained The NHS Test and Trace system is now up and running and anyone across the UK who shows symptoms of coronavirus can now get a free test to see if they have coronavirus. The Test & Trace service aims to find, contain and control the virus and reduce its’ spread. Crucially, the service plays an important part in protecting individuals as we move out of lockdown. What is Test & Trace guidance for anyone who has got coronavirus symptoms and for people who have been in close contact with someone who tests positive?
Can you remind me of the symptoms of coronavirus? Anyone across the UK who shows symptoms of COVID-19 can now get a free test to see if they have coronavirus. You can book a test on the website: nhs.uk/coronavirus or via 119. The main symptoms of coronavirus are: • A high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature) • A new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual) • A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal If you are contacted by the NHS Test & Trace service, what will they want to know? • If you have family members or other household members living with you. In line with the medical advice they must remain in self-isolation for the rest of the 14-day period from when your symptoms began • The NHS Test & Trace system will be interested to know if you have had any close contact with anyone outside of your household in the 48 hours before you developed symptoms and the time since you developed symptoms. Close contact means: o having face-to-face contact with someone (less than 1 metre away) o spending more than 15 minutes within 2 metres of someone o travelling in a car or other small vehicle with someone (even on a short journey) or close to them on a plane • If you work in – or have recently visited – a setting with other people (for example, a GP surgery, a school or a workplace) Contact tracers will ask you to provide, where possible, the names and contact details (for example, email address, telephone number) for the people you have had close contact with, this information will only ever be used to find those at risk of infection. As with your own details these will be held in strict confidence and will be kept and used only in line with data protection laws. What happens if the NHS Test & Trace service contacts me and I don’t respond? The NHS Test and Trace service will contact you by text message, email or phone, including sending reminder messages and calls. If the service is unable to reach you by text message, email or phone, we may write to you at your home address. If the service is unable to reach people through these means, they can escalate to health protection experts, so further action can be considered. It is vital that you respond if contacted by the NHS Test & Trace service to help contain and control the virus and ultimately help to save lives. What measures are in place to protect people from fraudulent calls? It is understood that people may be wary of criminals sadly looking to capitalise on this national effort and to safeguard against this, the National Cyber Security Centre have advised on measures to keep everyone safe. Importantly, official NHS Test and Trace contact tracers will never ask you for financial details, PINs or passwords. They will also never visit your home. For further information to protect yourself against any fraudulent activity, check NHS and gov.uk pages. Where does NHS Test & Trace apply? The NHS test and trace service is for England only, there are comparable contact tracing systems in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Gurinder Singh, Clinical Contact Caseworker said: “As a contact tracer, I cannot stress enough that it is absolutely vital that If you are contacted by the NHS Test & Trace service, you provide as much detail as possible about your recent movements and close contacts so that we can limit the spread of coronavirus and help to save lives.” For further information, visit: https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

SREBRENICA MASSACRE 25 YEARS ON
Front Page Story Cont’d... Islamic Relief is using the 25th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide to call on people to remember the consequences of not taking action against hate and dehumanisation. This Saturday, 11 July, will mark 25 years since the beginning of the massacre of more than 8,000 Bosnian Muslims by Bosnian Serb forces in the town of Srebrenica, Bosnia-Herzegovina. While the coronavirus pandemic is stopping survivors from physically coming together to mourn, many people in Bosnia-Herzegovina are commemorating the atrocity remotely. Islamic Relief was one of the first international aid agencies to respond when the war broke out in 1992, delivering emergency food, water and medicine to people under siege. When the war ended, Islamic Relief began a long-term reconstruction project, renovating homes for 12,000 people and rebuilding schools and health centres. The charity continues to support survivors of the war, helping poor communities become self-sufficient again. Emir Cica, Country Director of Islamic Relief Bosnia, said: ‘The Srebrenica massacre is one of the most brutal and horrifying events of our lifetime. On the 25th Anniversary of the Srebrenica massacre we honour the victims and survivors of this horrific genocide and pledge ourselves to creating better, stronger and more cohesive societies wherever we are.
‘Many in Bosnia-Herzegovina are still fighting for justice and to this day, bodies continue to be excavated and reburied, giving some families an opportunity to finally grieve, and to perform a janazah prayer for their loved ones. ‘The atrocity is a stark reminder of the consequences of not taking action against hate and dehumanisation – it is a lesson in how hatred and intolerance can flourish if left unchallenged. ‘This mass murder of Bosnian Muslims happened only 25 years ago, on European soil. Coming after the massacre of 6 million Jews during the Second World War, it is clear that this kind of atrocity against a minority group can happen anywhere and at any time. In our fight against racism and preju-
dice, it is not enough to just champion tolerance and understanding – we must stand firmly against those who seek to divide us, whoever they may be. ‘In remembering the Srebrenica Massacre, we continue to remember those who were murdered; we stand by those seeking justice; and we appeal to those with political power, the media and our fellow human beings to stop the hatred and intolerance which led to this appalling atrocity.’ Tufail Hussain, Director of Islamic Relief UK said: ‘Here in the UK, where extremist right-wing rhetoric against minorities, refugees and Muslims, is becoming increasingly mainstreamed, it is more important than ever for us to come to-
gether, no matter what our background, to celebrate diversity and to stand together against hatred and prejudice. ‘We hope you will join us in mourning the loss of those who died at Srebrenica, but also in reflecting how we as individuals, groups and communities can stand firmly against those who seek to divide us – whoever they may be. We must never forget.’ About Islamic Relief Islamic Relief is a faith-inspired, development and humanitarian agency working to transform and save the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in over 40 countries. Islamic Relief assists people according to need and does not discriminate in any way.
Set up in Birmingham in 1984 by a group of volunteers, we have assisted over 117 million people all over the world. We’re saving lives and empowering people to lift themselves out of poverty in over 40 countries – from Bangladesh to Bosnia, Pakistan to Palestine, Kenya to Kosovo. Islamic Relief is on the ground in some of the world’s most dangerous and difficult places – including Syria and Yemen – strengthening the most marginalised communities to withstand conflict and natural disasters and to build a brighter future. We also support vulnerable people in the UK in partnership with local charities and organisations.

FTSE 100 firms ASIAN AUTHOR REVAMPS CLASSIC FAIRY TALE CINDERELLA called upon to commit to a FOR MODERN READERS Debut Author Ms Faiza Mirza has adapted the world’s best fairy tale into a humorous fairy tale created for modern book readers. Essentially a hilarious and satirical take on the world’s most favourite fairy tale, Ms Faiza Mirza has created a magical and beautiful version which is also funny and makes you think. Cinderella who experiences huge tragedy when her parents pass away has her life turned around until she meets a beautiful crystal fairy. The fairy godmother creates a dazzling and enchanting encounter sending Cinderella to the Grand Ball underneath the Stars. Asian World newspaper finds out more about this new adaptation of Cinderella…
Q. What in your opinion are the most important elements of good writing? A. Clarity of expression, keeping the readers interest, and using wording that makes people think and bring out the best inside them. Q. What does success mean to you? A. Success to me is great book sales, becoming rich, getting a better book deal and seeing my book turn into a film! I would love to have lots of fans and admirers too, and other people to admire otherwise life is boring! Q. Can you tell us more about your book? A. Yes, my book is extremely special and written to empathise with Cinderella’s plight and the tragedy that ensues after her parents pass away. She has to put up with the insipidly stupid company of the two evil stepsister’s and the shrewd evil stepmother who shows her true colours very late to Cinderella. I wanted to capture the reader’s imagination too, with amazing style, so created a magical chapter when she meets the fairy godmother with Swarovski crystals and thousands of golden and glass like fairies to prepare Cinderella for the ball. Q. Are there any secrets within your book that you can share with readers? A. It’s a fairy tale so it’s always up to the reader’s own interpretation. There is however an important part of the book when Cinderella experiences an amazing dream – maybe someone is about to enter her life and the dream is actually a premonition? If you read between the line’s then you should try and work out what Prince Charming is doing during this time in the book. I think readers should realise he is secretly mesmerised when Cinderella befriends the sparkling moon and stars every evening and why the evil stepmother finally turns on Cinderella! Q. What is the main message of your book? A. There are many, too many to count! But important ideas and themes are that Cinderella dared to dream and then her dreams came true after an enchanting meeting with a beautiful fairy

The Fairy Godmother struck her golden wand, and with a blast of golden light filled up the bath with million bubbles, and beautiful scent so Cinderella could smell beautiful.
“
It’s an amazing time for new Author Ms Faiza Mirza as she begins to promote her new book, the young Author has made an exciting debut within the book industry and hopefully there is more on the way. We asked her the following questions to simply find out more… Q. When did you first start writing? A. I first began writing during a bad time in my life, so it was like therapy. One afternoon I wanted to read a short story and decided to just write my own version! I wrote Cinderella over a very short period of time, in fact within three days. I sent it to a publishing house and they offered me a book deal immediately! I was lucky enough to receive a lot of interest from other publishing houses too, with more than five book deals. I chose my first offer and I am happy with all the hard work, effort and kindness they have shown me. I now have been given a second book deal, so we’ll have to see how it goes, although I’m looking for sponsorship if anyone reading Asian World newspaper is interested in sponsoring me then give me a call, text me or email me. Q. Have you always wanted to be a writer? A. Yes. I began reading books at an early age and was mesmerised and eager to read and write after reading The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, The Chronicles of Narnia – still my favourite book by C.S Lewis. I also wanted to be a journalist too after picking up a copy of Smash Hits Magazine, and then finding a book in the local library on how to become a journalist. I read it page by page and never stopped trying to brush up on my writing skills or read more than one newspaper.
godmother who sent her to the ball magically! The book makes you think that everybody has a perfect soulmate somewhere, and they can meet all your expectations too, you shouldn’t give up! You should wait for your real soulmate too, and not waste your time on others, that’s why there is a build up to the story and Cinderella’s luck built up in an amazing way to create a dazzling entrance to the ball! Q. Who is your favourite Author? A. Of course C.S Lewis, I love Jonne Donne poetry after studying at Sixth Form College and David Sedaris and Nick Hornby with High Fidelity. Q. Which famous Author would be your mentor? A. Nick Hornby.
Faiza Mirza - 07930226876 Q. What’s your childhood dream job? A. Working with Dexter Fletcher in PRESS GANG as a writer or editor. Q. If you could create your dream dinner party who would you invite? A. For Asian World newspaper readers I would have a dinner party at Neuswanstein Castle in Germany or somewhere in the north pole. Of course I would invite people to discuss my new book, and hopefully a film would be in the pipeline. I would discuss a few films, mainly comedy and also something really beautiful and thought provoking like Ankahee, one of my favourite Indian films – my book has many elements of that film too, such as tragedy, drama and journeying through the main character’s sense of loss and hoping that they will win against all odds. To create a comedy I would invite Cruella DeVille, Asian actress Rekha for the role of the evil stepmother and also Italian chef Genaro – his mannerisms and looks are perfect for the evil stepmother! But on the guest list for potential stars in my romantic comedy would be – Rekha, Cruella DeVille, Italian chef Genaro, Danny DeZongpa, Parveen Bhabi, Om Puri, Rishi Kapoor family especially Shakti Kapoor and Gulshan Grover, Tun Tun, Aruna Irani and Bindu, Govinda, Chunky Pandey and Anil Kapoor- I would invite my father too who is an old Pakistani movie star and Drama Artist and the entire cast of Pakistani drama/comedy Guest House because they understand the humour in Cinderella’s home.
When it comes to addressing the socio-economic issues raised by the Black Lives Matter movement, nonprofit organisation Minority Supplier Development UK (MSDUK) is leading the way. MSDUK champions supplier diversity and inclusion of ethnic minority businesses in both public and private sector supply chains. By encouraging entrepreneurship and including these businesses in mainstream supply chains, MSDUK has been working to tackle inequality and denounce racism and discrimination across global institutions and industries. The not-for-profit organisation has seen first-hand how supplier diversity can be a powerful tool to drive social and economic change. Over the last 14 years, MSDUK has worked with 125 global corporations and over 3,000 ethnic minority businesses. Their efforts have led to over £800m worth of business being generated, resulting in job creation, which in turn has led to increased wealth within ethnic minority communities, better living standards, and reducing economic inequality. Founder & CEO, Mayank Shah, has been analysing social inequality within ethnic minorities for the past 20 years, working alongside academics and other supporting businesses. He says: “The global impact of George Floyd’s death has led to people all over the world demanding justice. For the first time, we are seeing a collective response from corporate leaders, who are not only releasing statements of support, but are announcing actions and measures to tackle these issues. Addressing issues of socio-economic inequality, criminal injustices, systemic and structural racism requires a collective effort from all of us.” However, even after 14 years of work
promoting supplier diversity in British firms, only five of the FTSE100 companies are part of this movement. The organisation is calling on FTSE100 firms to make supplier diversity a key part of their core strategy and commit to a minimum of 1% spend with ethnic minority businesses. When it comes to the UK public sector, MSDUK reports that it gets even worse. None of the 27 government departments or any local councils in the UK have any remit or mandate around supply diversity. The organisation advises that this has to change and change quickly. They are lobbying for supplier diversity to be made mandatory in public procurement policies for government tenders and contract language. MSDUK states that inclusion and increased spend with under-represented business groups - ethnic minorities, women, and others - should be part of the government’s policy to spend 33% with SMEs. Mayank Shah added: “We believe it’s not just the role of corporate leaders, politicians, or sport stars to raise inequality issues; every one of us has a part to play. Only through increased supplier diversity, in both public and private sector procurement processes, will we be able to address socio-economic issues and create long-lasting change.” MSDUK is currently running two campaigns to encourage organisations to consider making supplier diversity part of their core strategy: #EMBMatters and #SpendwithEMBs. For more information on MSDUK or to read more about the organisation’s position on supplier diversity and the Black Lives Matter Movement, please visit: www.msduk.org.uk

Grants to help Small UK Mosques across UK
A new Jummah Grants fund is launching this week providing grants of between £250 and £1,000 each week for small mosques based in the UK with an annual turnover of under £250,000 who are struggling during lockdown. The grants have been made possible through the support of charity sponsors Penny Appeal UK and Mercy Mission UK, alongside individual donors to the #SupportOurMosques campaign, an initiative of LaunchGood.com and the
Muslim Council of Britain. The #SupportOurMosques campaign was started in April 2020 to help UK mosques raise funds online as many saw a sharp drop in donations due to lockdown. The campaign has so far helped over 130 participating mosques around the UK raise over £440,000, as well as providing free webinars, coaching and online tools on how to fundraise effectively online. The Jummah Grants fund will be a con-
tinuation of this campaign of helping small mosques fundraise online and incentivise community giving. Each Friday, there will be a daily competition for small mosques to garner the highest number of individual donors on their online fundraising page, with the most successful at mobilising local community support receiving a support grant of between £250 and £1,000 on top of their amount fundraised. Harris Iqbal, Interim CEO of Penny Appeal, said “We are honoured to be partnering with the #SupportOurMosques campaign to provide grants to small mosques here in the UK every Friday to help them get through lockdown. Our mosques are there for us when we are young, as we grow older, when we get married and even when we pass away. Just as these institutions are here for us, we must be there for our mosques in their time in need.” Zain Miah, Europe Director of LaunchGood said “The SupportOurMosques initiative is a genuine effort to support masjids find their way through the everchanging landscape that coronavirus presents. Masajid have adapted, they have stepped up. Now, with the help of our grant sponsors via Jummah Grants, we can help masjids further cover their costs, sustain themselves and most importantly, incorporate forward-thinking changes in their fundraising as they begin to look towards the future.” Small UK mosques with an annual turnover of under £250,000 can register for the Jummah Grants programme online at SupportOurMosques.com/JummahGrants. Any participating mosque is able to benefit from the campaign’s free webinars, coaching and online tools on how to fundraise effectively online as well.
WORLDS FIRST ISLAMIC EDUCATION APP ANNOUNCES ON-LINE GROUP PROGRAMMES TO INSPIRE STUDENTS DURING LOCKDOWN!
As the coronavirus outbreak continues to keep people in lockdown, e-learning is fast becoming the new norm for most children and adults. Schools have implemented zoom, teams and online classes for their students and religious education is no different.
Nabeela Raza CEO of TMI says of the new programme, Whilst being in lockdown we have had so many parents approach us about catering for group sessions. We felt it was the right time to introduce the group programme – we will be delivering the very best in Islamic Education with the added benefit of small online classes. Online will definitely be the way forward for Islamic education as parents are seeing the potential of e-learning
“
TMI is all about modern delivery of Islamic education. The app allows parents to browse tutor profiles and select a local Islamic Tutor for their child / children as well as checking their profile and qualifications and all tutors are DBS checked. It has also recently added women empowerment programmes teaming up with internationally respected journalist and author Lauren booth. Although TMI has been set up as a one 2 one tutoring service there has been a growing appetite for group Islamic Education online and with that in mind TMI have launched a new programme aimed at children whose parents are looking for quality Islamic education in small groups of up-to 7 students only, therefore still keeping its trademark personal delivery, and at an affordable price. The new model will benefit children who at present may not be able to attend Islamic classes due to mosques being shut but it will also introduce parents and children to a new way of learning as TMI tutors are British educated, social savvy and highly experienced with a masters equivalent degree in Islamic Theology and Jurisprudence. The new on-line courses will allow parents, for a limited time period, to book their children for a month’s advance classes. The new programmes will enable up to 7 students to join a class that will be 2 hours long.

They also sell individual cupcakes, with a variety of flavours like salted caramel or even chocolate. Underneath each cake, is written the shelf life of the item to ensure that customers are aware of how long they can store the cake for until it goes off. Fatherson Bakery kindly sent us a father’s day treat box which included, a Large chocolate indulgence loaf, Apple & Blackberry Pie, Rocky Road Tray Bake, Chocolate Cupcakes and Chocolate Creams biscuits. My favourite had to be the Apple & Blackberry pie and chocolate cupcakes as the flavours were aromatic and the perfect combination of sweet to compliment the taste buds. I really enjoyed these sweet treats and I would definitely recommend them to everyone. Local Subway Franchise Owner, Mehdi Bahramchoobin is celebrating following his Subway store being named the ‘Best Hot Food Takeaway’ in the WOWs awards, as voted for by the public. The store, located on the Broadway Plaza, Ladywood Middleway in Birmingham, has been owned by Mehdi since 2015. The annual WOWs (Wonders of Westside) awards, organised by the Westside BID, recognise the achievements of those working in Birmingham’s mixed-use business area and covers more than 15,000 people and 300 businesses. Mehdi Bahramchoobin, Subway Franchise Owner, said: “I am absolutely thrilled that my Broadway Plaza store has been named Best Hot Food Takeaway in the WOWs awards. I came to the UK 11 years ago as a student with very little; Through my knowledge and effort I’ve forged my way to becoming a Subway Franchise Owner and now I’m a trusted part of the local community. I love welcoming guests to my store and it’s humbling to know it was the public that voted for me to win. To win this award is an absolute honour.” Mehid has been a Subway Fran-
chise Owner since late 2012 and opened his first store in 2013 in Maypole, which he later sold in 2016. Alongside the Broadway Plaza store, Mehdi currently owns another Subway store in Birmingham, located on Hagley Road in Edgbaston, which he opened in 2019. He employs more than 20 staff between his two stores. Mehdi, who is 45 and married with a 16-year old son, nominated his Broadway Plaza Subway store for the WOWs awards earlier this year before the lockdown forced him to close his doors in March. That, however, didn’t stop him from serving his community as he set about to help the most vulnerable by volunteering to run vital errands for those unable to leave their homes. In late June, Mehdi was made a #WestsideHero after clocking up more than 1,000 volunteering hours since he signed up as an NHS volunteer in March. Mehdi’s Broadway Plaza and Hagley Road Subway stores have both now reopened their doors and are safely serving guests a variety of Subs, salads and wraps made to order fresh in front of guests, as well as for takeaway and delivery.
Bame community and coronavirus: Oxford University spin-out Zegami offers medical profession its data visualisation services for free to help find reasons why BAME people are at greater risk from Coronavirus
Zegami, the Oxford University data visualisation spin-out, is offering its services for free to help discover why members of the BAME community are at greater risk of contracting COVID-19 than people from white ethnic backgrounds, suffering more serious health implications from it and an increased chance of dying from the virus. It says analysing the millions of data points collected on the rate of infection of COVID-19 by different ethnic groups and the medical outcome of these in a quick, efficient, and technologically advanced way holds the key to this question. It is also calling on the Government to review urgently what data it is collecting on the Coronavirus crisis by ethnic groups to ensure it is capturing all relevant information. Roger Noble, CEO and founder of Zegami said: “All the evidence shows that members of the BAME community are at greater risk of contracting COVID-19 than the white community, and they also face a higher risk of suffering serious health implications or even death. As a matter of urgency, we need to review how Coronavirus data by ethnicity is being collected, and more specifically what information is being gathered. If we are confident that we are collecting everything needed, technology and data visualisation can speed up the process of finding an answer to the question of why the BAME community is so more adversely affected by this virus.” A review by Public Health England found that the highest age standardised diagnosis rates of COVID-19 per 100,000
Several explanations have been put forward for why the BAME community has been hit harder by Coronavirus than white ethnic groups. These include: • Variations in cardiovascular disease risk by ethnic groups • Vitamin D levels. It has been suggested that BAME people may face higher risk of dying from coronavirus because of their higher rates of vitamin D deficiencies • Socio-economic, and behavioural factors. Some BAME groups are more likely to live in overcrowded accommodation than white communities • BAME communities have a higher proportion of people employed in key worker roles increasing their exposure to the virus • It has been reported that members of the BAME community can sometimes have poorer access to healthcare services, which can make them less inclined to seek medical help
population were in people of Black ethnic groups and the lowest were in people of White ethnic groups. An analysis of survival among confirmed COVID-19 cases showed that, after accounting for the effect of sex, age, deprivation and region, people of Bangladeshi ethnicity
had around twice the risk of death when compared to people of White British ethnicity. People of Chinese, Indian, Pakistani, Other Asian, Caribbean and Other Black ethnicity had between 10 and 50% higher risk of death when compared to White British people.

CTD OFFICER KILLS DOCTOR IN KARACHI A Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) officer entered the National Institute of Cardiovascular Hospital and Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) Hospital in Karachi and shot dead a doctor on duty. The injured doctor’s name is Fahad who is 28 years old. Dr. Fahd was shot in the left leg above the knee. Dr. Fahad’s senior and in-charge of emergency at NICVD, Dr. Zahid, told Independent Urdu that Dr. Fahad’s condition is out of danger. Immediately after the shooting, steps were taken to stop his bleeding, but by then he had bled profusely. However, Dr Fahad was admitted to the Aga Khan Hospital on National Stadium Road in Karachi, where he is still admitted. The CTD officer who shot him was identified as Kamran, who also came to the NICVD hospital, however Dr Prakash was on duty in the emergency room at the time. That night, Kamran had a bitter argument with Dr. Prakash, after which the officer threatened to come the next day and left. Explaining the reason for the bitter rhetoric, Dr. Zahid, in-charge of emergency at NICVD, said: There is a cardiology hospital and at that time this officer did not have any heart problem. Dr. Prakash refused because it is illegal to give drugs or injections to such a person. It is used for medical purposes only. I know Prakash very well; he is a very cool minded boy and usually does not argue with anyone. Officers Kamran returned the next day but Dr. Fahad was on duty instead of Dr.
Prakash.Dr. Fahad fellow doctor, who was in the emergency room at the time of the accident that night, described the scene on condition of anonymity. “Last night a policeman came to the emergency room and asked the staff where the doctor
who was on duty yesterday was,” he said. The staff then told him that the doctors of yesterday were not present today but were replaced by Dr. Fahad. Upon learning this, the man sat down in front of Fahad. He turned his shotgun on himself when apprehended by a police officer on the porch of the house where the shootings took place. The guard escaped the bullet but escaped. He then turned his shotgun on himself when apprehended by a police officer on the porch of the house where the shootings took place According to Dr. Fahd’s colleague, all

Dr Fahad’s fellow doctor added: “After being shot, Fahad tried to get up from his seat and run away, but the CTD officer told him, ‘I see where he runs away.’ “After the second shot, Dr. Fahad fell to the ground but got up and tried to go to the bathroom,” he said. After doing this, the policeman kept saying bad things about the doctors for a long time and threatened us that if we call 15 and tell all this, nothing will happen to him. He said this for about fifteen minutes and then he left.
the doctors in the emergency room at that time tried to stop Dr. Fahad bleeding with a bandage, but he had lost a lot of blood due to the bullet. According to fellow doctors, the officer had reached Jinnah Hospital behind him but was apprehended by the police there. However, regarding the matter, SSP South Shiraz Nazir said that the case has been registered under the provisions of attempted murder in the complaint of the injured doctor at the President’s Police Station. The accused officer came to CTD Civil Lines after attacking the doctor. There, he made a noise and said that he had shot and injured the doctor. After confirming this to the President, the accused was arrested and handed over to the President. In a statement to the police during the interrogation, the CTD official said, “I was in a very bad condition. I came to the hospital in an emergency. “Dr. Prakash insulted me and I went back, but as I was leaving, I threatened the doctor that I would not come and release him tomorrow.” “I wanted to punish the doctors for their indifference,” he said in a statement. That’s why he left the house with five bullets. Dr Zahid, in-charge of emergency at NICVD, alleged that it was common for doctors to come to the hospital at night and ask them to inject them with sleeping pills and drugs.

MASSIVE COVID RELIEF OPERATION IN INDIA: The Akshaya Patra Foundation (TAPF) in India is serving food to vulnerable populations who have been affected by the COVID-19 containment measures. Latest figures show that TAPF, and its supporting organisations, have served over 60 million meals to people from vulnerable communities, such as daily-wage earners, industrial workers, labourers at construction sites, etc., across India. As soon as India declared a national lockdown on March 25th, TAPF launched into its national campaign to provide meals. As of June 10th, TAPF has served over 32 million freshly cooked meals and 684,384 food relief kits with essential groceries - amounting to over 28 million meal servings - totalling over 60 million meals served. The Foundation is undertaking this relief initiative in 17 states and two union territories in association with the Government of India, State Governments, UT Administrations and civic authorities. Leveraging TAPF’s existing state-of-theart kitchens across India, freshly cooked meals are prepared and served with the help of volunteers who maintain social distancing. Simultaneously, food relief kits are being distributed to vulnerable communities throughout India, including Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Punjab and Assam. The contents of these kits are based on the local palate of the region, with each kit having enough dry ration to cook up to 42 or 28 meals[1]. Speaking about these relief feeding efforts, Madhu Pandit Dasa, Chairman, The Akshaya Patra Foundation, said: “This has only been possible due to the collaborative efforts of everyone involved. I extend my deepest gratitude to various Governments, corporate partners, individual donors, motivated volunteers and all our well-wishers for enabling us to serve people in these difficult times through their sustained support. We will continue to extend our services as long as it is possible.’’ SERVING THE VULNERABLE IN THE UK: The Akshaya Patra Foundation UK (Charity number 1117756) is undertaking food assistance to support children, the elderly, the vulnerable in the UK. Indian Soldier Killed In ‘Ceasefire Violation’ On Border with Pakistan
The heavy Pakistani firing and shelling were reported along the Line of Control (LoC) which marks the effective boundary between India and Pakistan. The heavy cross-border shelling by Pakistani troops marks yet another breach of the ceasefire agreed between the two states, according to an Indian observer. Pakistani troops opened fire along the LoC in Poonch district’s Krishna Ghati sector and Rajouri’s Nowshera sector, officials said. An Indian army jawan, who was guarding a forward post, was critically injured after being hit by crossborder shelling in the Nowshera sector. The junior soldier later died of his injuries.
He is the fourth army personnel to be killed by Pakistani firing along the LoC in Rajouri and Poonch this month. Two soldiers were killed in Rajouri district on June 4 and 10, while another young soldier died after being hit by cross-border firing in Poonch. Today’s unprovoked firing is just one of a string of attacks along the border of Jammu and Kashmir in recent months. So far Pakistan has violated the ceasefire agreement, signed by the two countries in October 2003, over 2,000 times this year. Last year, there were 3,168 ceasefire violations and 1,629 in 2018. According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office, Indian Charge
d’Affaires Gaurav Ahluwalia was summoned by Director General Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri to protest the “indiscriminate and unprovoked” firing by the Indian forces in in
Hajipir and Bedori sectors of the LoC. The summons was called after a 13-year-old civilian was killed in the crossfire.
Kashmir has been an area of contention between India and Pakistan for more than 50 years. The LoC currently divides the region in two, with one part governed by India and the other by Pakistan. India is keen to formalise the divide and make it the accepted international boundary. The US and UK have also backed the move to turn the LoC into an internationally-recognised frontier. But Pakistan and Kashmiri activists reject this plan because they both want greater control over the region. Pakistan also shares unease that if the border was finalised, the predominantly Muslim Kashmir Valley would remain as part of India.

Sikh Pilgrims killed in Pakistan as Bus Crashes into Train
July 2020 20 people have been killed after a bus carrying Sikh Pilgrims at an unmanned railway crossing in eastern Pakistan crashed. According to reports, atleast eight pilgrims were injured. The accident took place in the district of Sheikhupura in Punjab province. District police chief said that the dead and injured had been taken to a nearby hospital. The Sikh pilgrims from the Northwestern city of Peshawar were returning home from a visit to the shrine of Nankana Sahib in Sheikhupura. Officials stated that the injured victims were transported to a hospital in Lahore, with two of the victims listed in critical condition. Asghar Joya, a government official in Sheikhupura, said ‘’an initial assessment indicated the bus driver tried to cross the railway tracks as the train neared but the bus skidded and got stuck.’’ He said, ‘’however, that officials were still investigating.’’ Sheikhupura resident Dilbir Singh said ‘’the pilgrims, after visiting the shrine and before leaving for Peshawar, had also visited the home of a relative whose family member had recently died.’’
Pakistani president, Arif Ali and Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed their sorrow and ordered local authorities to provide the best possible treatment for the injured victims. Sikhs have several shrines of their religious leaders in Pakistan. One of the Sikh founder’s Guru Nanak was built during the 16th century after he died. The shrine is located on the Punjab village of Kartarpur, on the boarder with India. Train accidents are quite common in Pakistan, mainly due to lack of enforcement of safety standards, a poorly kept railway system and negligence of drivers. In February 2020, a train had crashed into a bus carrying passengers at an unmanned railway crossing in the district of Rohri in southern Pakistan, killing 19 people and injuring 28 others. In November 2019, a fire caused by a cooking gas stove swept through a train in Punjab and killed 74 people. Survivors at the time stated that it took nearly 20 minutes for the train to stop; there were also contradictory reports about the condition of the train’s brakes.

UK Reports: Rise in Sunak Expands £500m Over-50s Struggling Fund For UK Start-ups To Pay For Necessities Hit By Coronavirus
has not been selected for many of these roles. “My mental, physical and financial wellbeing have suffered as a result of jobhunting during the pandemic,” she said. “I cannot access universal credit because I have just started taking my state pension, even though it doesn’t cover my bills.” The Office for National Statistics figures show claims for universal credit increased by 117% in two months, rising from 304,000 to nearly 660,000. The claims represent about 6% of those aged over 50 who are considered economically active, either in work or actively looking for work. Before the pandemic, over-50s were already more likely to be in long-term unemployment than their younger counterparts, while analysis of insolvency data found an alarming increase in female insolvencies over the age of 65. Lewis said: “In a year when the state pension age increases to 66 and with more over-50s claiming universal credit than those
under 25, this is a wakeup call for government policy. The fear is of a lost generation of highly talented, older workers forced permanently into a miserable and unaffordable early retirement.” Kim Chaplain, the associate director at the Centre for Ageing Better, said: “These figures are really worrying. Without action, we risk seeing many in their 50s and 60s fall out of the workforce years before the state pension age.” Caroline Abrahams, the charity director at Age UK, said: “Postpandemic, the government needs to make sure that job centres and other back-to-work support offers have the skills and expertise needed to address the specific barriers faced by older people. “Otherwise those in their late 50s and 60s may end up having to claim universal credit or draw down savings, which they had worked hard to put by, with the aim of providing them with a decent retirement.”
The chancellor is expanding a £500m fund for UK start-ups hit by the coronavirus crisis, to ensure firms that shifted their headquarters abroad can still access the scheme. The Future Fund will now benefit companies that are seen as British in all but name, having moved their parent company to tap US investors or take advantage of so-called accelerator programmes. Accelerators like US-based Y Combinator often ask firms to set up a US entity in order to access financing, mentorships and expert networks overseas. Future Fund applicants will still have to prove that at least half of their staff are based in the UK and that they make at least 50% of their revenues from UK sales, the Treasury said. The changes come amid a surge in demand for the scheme, which will see the government take stakes in British start-ups that struggle to repay loans due to the coronavirus crisis. The Future Fund offers convertible government loans worth
between £125,000 and £5m to companies that have previously raised at least £250,000 of equity investments. Those loans are matched pound-for-pound

This change means that those startups who have strived to be the very best, and taken opportunities to grow their business, will be able to benefit from our world -leading Future Fund said chancellor, Rishi Sunak

Increasing numbers of people aged over 50 in the UK do not have enough money to pay for basic necessities, a study of labour market statistics has shown. Claims for universal credit, which is available only to households with savings of less than £16,000, from the over-50s have more than doubled since March. The research, commissioned by Rest Less, a website for the over-50s, came after Ipsos Mori found the coronavirus crisis could leave the next generation of retirees significantly poorer and sicker. Stuart Lewis, the founder of Rest Less, said: “Sadly, this is only the tip of the iceberg as many of those unemployed in their 50s will not be eligible to claim universal credit. The surge in older claimants highlights the extremely precarious financial situation that many of this demographic find themselves in today. “With birth rates having declined for decades, the over50s have been the main driving force behind the success story of UK employment growth in the years leading up to the pandemic,” he added. “Crucially, they will need to be just as essential to any recovery of the economy on the other side.” Sue Burton Ross, 66, does not qualify for universal credit even though she is struggling financially. Burton Ross was made redundant from her role as a business support manager in the care sector at the end of February. Burton Ross has applied for more than 200 jobs and has had 12 interviews. She believes her age is the key reason why she
by private investors, but the government debt will convert to equity if the loans are not repaid. The fund is meant to help startups, in sectors like tech and life sciences, that may have otherwise struggled to survive, let alone grow, throughout the coronavirus crisis. The government initially committed £250m in loans as part of a £500m fund that was equally shouldered by private investors. However, the government has now approved £320m worth of future fund loans to more than 320 early-stage firms. The Treasury has not confirmed whether there is a cap for the expanded fund, which originally launched on 20 May. Business secretary Alok Sharma said: “As we restart our economy, it is crucial that our innovators and risk-takers get all the support they need to flourish. “Our decision to relax this rule recognises the importance of many of the UK’s most cuttingedge start-ups as we bounce back from coronavirus.”

UK EXTENDS PAYMENTS FREEZE FOR CONSUMERS STRUGGLING WITH DEBT The UK’s financial watchdog has extended emergency measures to allow consumers struggling financially due to the coronavirus outbreak to freeze loan and credit card payments until 31 October.
The measures, which were announced by the Financial Conduct Authority in April for an initial period of three months, also includes overdrafts, store cards and catalogue credit. Customers who have yet to request a payment freeze, or an arranged interest-free overdraft up to £500, can apply for one until 31 October. For consumers who have already taken one and are still experiencing temporary payment difficulties due to the health emergency, the FCA said firms must continue to offer support including further payment deferral, or reducing payment amounts to a manageable level, for a further three months. “We have been working closely with other authorities, lenders and debt charities to support consumers in the current emergency,” said Christopher Woolard, interim chief executive at the FCA. “The proposals we’ve announced today would provide an expected minimum level of financial support for consumers who remain in, or enter, temporary financial difficulty due to coronavirus.” At the end of a first payment freeze, firms are expected to contact customers to see if they an afford to resume payments, and if so how they can repay missed payments. “Where consumers can afford to make payments, it is in their best long-term interest to do so, but for those who need help, it will be there,” said Woolard. Customers who have already arranged an interest free overdraft and are still struggling can request another one of up to £500. They will also be able to request a reduced interest rate on any additional borrowing in excess of £500.

ACAS CORONAVIRUS ADVICE ON RETURNING TO WORK
Workplace expert, Acas, has updated its coronavirus guidance to cover best practice around how to handle returning to work. The coronavirus pandemic has seen calls to the Acas helpline increase by a third (34%) when compared to the same period the previous year. Acas Chief Executive, Susan Clews, said: “Covid19 has caused a lot of uncertainty in the workplace and our helpline has seen a record increase in calls from employers and employees wanting advice on how to handle changes to their work situation. “The Government’s advice is to continue to work from home if possible. But many employers and their staff may be concerned about the practicalities of physically going back to work. “Some people may also feel that they are unable to go back to work due to health, safety or childcare concerns. Our new advice includes guidance in these areas.” Acas’ advice is for employers and their staff to have early discussions about any plans to return to work and try to come to an agreement. These talks can take place with trade union or employee reps and health and safety reps, but all staff should be kept informed of plans and be able to feed into discussions.
• It is a good idea to talk about: • when staff might return to the workplace where your plans allow; • how staff will travel to and from work; • how health and safety is being reviewed and managed, including sharing the latest risk assessment; • any planned adjustments to the workplace, for example additional hand washing facilities, staggering start and finish times to avoid overcrowding or
floor markings to help people keep 2 metres apart; and • if there might be a phased return of the workforce, for example some staff returning before others. Wherever possible, employers should speak to staff before making a decision or putting plans in writing. This can help staff understand and feel included in decisions. Acas’ new advice is clear that some
Blue Pages “App” Website for Non-Emergency Directory Service Launches
A new directory service called Blue Pages “App” (Blue Pages), https:// www.bluepagesapp.co.uk/, has launched its website in the UK aimed at providing a one-stop-shop for information about non-emergency services such as charities, government departments and other non-profit making organisations. Under Blue Pages these are called “Member Organisations.” The aim is to provide an easy and cost effective way for these organisations to publicise what they do and to make it easier for consumers or members of the public to find the information they need as quickly as possible. The original idea, to which Blue Pages owes its thinking, comes from research into the number of waste calls made to the emergency services 999 number. In the coronavirus pandemic research highlighted that there had been a marked increase in demand by the general public for all kinds of help. Looking further back, specifically at 999 calls, it was found that of the 30 million plus calls made to 999 each year, some 30% were deemed a waste i.e. non-emergency, costing the UK Taxpayer approximately £50 million per year. The idea has now evolved into a more comprehensive directory service providing member organisations with the ability to list their services
whilst taking advantage of features such as Events, Classified Ads (e.g. Jobs) and Articles. There is a range of affordable member subscription options available, including a Free option and £1 per year at the Silver level. Director, Ray Sherry, of Greenforce (Wales) Limited who has launched the service says, “By chance I came across an article on waste 999 calls. After a bit of research, I found that there wasn’t a single website or app out there that brought all these help services together in one place. Instead people would just call 999 be-
cause it was the easiest thing to do. I hope we can influence that over time but for now we just want to make it easier for people to find the right help.” With more and more people using mobile phones, to access help services, a mobile phone app will follow in a few days. The website initially lists over 200 member organisations and will be launching its marketing campaign on 5 July 2020, to coincide with the NHS’s 72nd Birthday. Blue Pages App aims to donate at least 25% of its directory income to good causes from Year 4 onwards.
people may not feel that they are able to return to work due to worries around catching the virus; childcare responsibilities; or they could be an extremely vulnerable person or live with someone who is. In any of these situations, an employer should listen to staff concerns. Some practical options to consider are: • arrange for someone to work different hours temporarily to avoid peak time travel; • keep someone on furlough if they are temporarily unable to work; or • offer extra car parking where possible so that people can avoid using public transport If none of these options are possible then it may be possible to take time off as holiday or unpaid leave but an employer does not have to agree to this. If someone refuses to attend work without a valid reason then it could result in disciplinary action. Non-essential retail shops in England are set to reopen on 15 June. Acas is regularly updating its advice to reflect any new changes to lockdown in Great Britain. The full advice includes proposed changes to employment contracts on returning to work, staff anxious about returning to work and how to raise it as an issue. For Ayushmann Khurrana, Gulabo Sitabo is the realisation of his long-standing dream of working with his favourite actor, Amitabh Bachchan. “After Dum Laga Ke Haisha [2015] released, Mr [Amitabh] Bachchan sent me a personalised note, appreciating the nuances of my performance. When I won the National Award for AndhaDhun [2018], he sent a beautiful message,” recounts Khurrana, believing that these moments were only leading up to Gulabo Sitabo, his first collaboration with the megastar. “It’s hard to be a professional actor around your screen idol. I am glad he wasn’t playing himself — the alpha male with a [deep] baritone. He was playing a character, wearing deceitful make-up. So, there wasn’t a hint of the legend on set. But after pack-up every
day, I would pinch myself to believe that I was, in fact, sharing screen space with him.” Written by Juhi Chaturvedi, the film thrives on the chemistry of its central characters — Amitabh Bachchan as the cantankerous landlord Mirza, and Khurrana, his miserly tenant Baanke. “I had previously shot Bala in Lucknow. But on this set, I had to switch to a different accent, one that’s typical of old Lucknow. My character in Bala had the Kanpuriya twang,” he reflects. The slice-of-life film marks Khurrana’s reunion with Shoojit Sircar, the director who started it all for him with Vicky Donor (2012). The actor is glad to shift gears from his previous offerings, under the guidance of his mentor. “I owe him my career. So, if
he offers me a passing role in his film, I will do it. He is my guru. I have been doing message-oriented films over the years. But this movie doesn’t offer social commentary. It’s a pure form of cinema that doesn’t commit to norms.” The hugely awaited big ticket entertainer, Gulabo Sitabo is one of the first Bollywood projects to premiere on Amazon Prime Video, with approximately 14 language subtitles - Arabic, Russian, Polish, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Indonesian, Malay, Korean, Greek, Hebrew, Turkish along with English.

5 REASONS TO REGAIN CONTROL OF YOUR POSTURE Maintaining good posture is a daily struggle for many of us. Whether you’re working on your feet or at a desk, it’s all too easy to slump into bad habits. You probably know that sitting and standing poorly is bad for your back, but do you know about the trouble it could be causing for the rest of your body? Below, we look at some of the most common side-effects of bad posture – some of which might even surprise you. Pain This may be the most obvious consequence of bad posture, but sometimes it can be difficult to connect the dots and realise just how much of our pain could be fixed by keeping ourselves a little more vertical. The joints in our hips,
knees and ankles are all connected to your spine, which means that the damage done by incorrect posture can spread much further than your upper back. Slouching – particularly when walking – puts a strain on your lower body, and over time this can cause persistent pain and discomfort. It’s not good news for your upper body, either. Allowing your head to droop in front of your shoulders can lead to recurrent headaches and jaw pain as a direct result of tension in your neck and shoulders. Have you considered postural assessment? If you’re keen to make lasting and positive changes to your posture, a chiropractor in Guildford offers a fourstep assessment and treatment for your unique spi-
LIGHTS OUT FOR BACTERIA
It has been long suggested that we wash our bed covers at least once a fortnight, to stop the spread of illness causing bacteria. A recent bacterial study[i] in the US, focused on bed covers, found that in just one week the bacteria spore levels in your pillowcase and sheet are over 17,000 times that found on a toilet seat These levels then raise to potential illness-causing levels after four weeks. With winter comes the increased risk of illness, so it is important for households to plan to clean items not typically put into a regular wash. Illness related bacteria, spread from our faces and hands, can be found on all soft furnishings – especially towels, pillowcases, cushion covers and bed sheets. All of these come into contact with multiple people in the home, spreading cold, flu and stomach related illnesses. It is therefore important to create a cleaning routine for these items and break the bacteria chain.
nal and muscular health. the UK are suffering Digestive problems from a digestive issue Around 40% of people in at any given time, and in recent years there has been an alarming rise in the number of people suffering from IBS and similar disorders. Bad posture can cause a number of issues with digestion, since the organs responsible for passing food through our bodies are compressed. This can lead to a sluggish metabolism, causing heartburn, acid reflux, and constipation. Improve your mood Body language is a powerful tool, and there’s research to suggest that sitting straighter can give our mood a much needed lift, and make you feel more on-theball and confident at work. While bad posture probably isn’t solely responsible for your negative moods, there’s a strong chance that it could be exacerbating the problem. Pins and needles Tingling in your hands can be a sign that the nerves and blood vessels around
your shoulders are being constricted. Sitting poorly, with your head and shoulders hunched forward, may be causing or exacerbating this problem, and it is recommended that sufferers take immediate steps to improve the way they are sitting and standing. Fatigue Although sitting down may seem like the energy-saving option, you may have noticed that it can make you feel as though you’re ready to fall asleep. This is because bad posture puts unnecessary tension and strain on your body, which forces you to use more energy than you would if you were sitting properly. What’s more, the pain caused by bad posture can make it difficult to sleep comfortably, which may prevent you from getting enough rest each night – another good reason to look into ways of achieving and maintaining good posture.
Shirley Peet, from laundry product brand ACE, has the following advice: “It is not that we aren’t cleaning towels, bed covers, cushion covers and tea towels, because we are. The key thing to remember is to plan when items such as bedding – especially in family homes – as well as cushion covers, and other soft furnishings are due to be cleaned to break the cycle.” Standard washing detergents do not always hygienically wash materials. ACE for Whites and ACE for Colours both have active bleaching agents that not only hygienically clean in a machine wash, but also protects your colours or refreshes whites – depending on the chosen product – and leaves them odour and bacteria free and smelling fresh. Shirley continues: “Adding an additional product, such as ACE, into your drum can help to hygienically clean your home furnishings leaving them stain free, smelling fresh, and removing any trace of bacteria!” ACE offers a range of laundry products, for more information visit www.acecleanuk.co.uk.

10 HEALTH AND NUTRITION TIPS THAT ARE ACTUALLY EVIDENCE-BASED
25
It’s easy to get confused when it comes to health and nutrition. Even qualified experts often seem to hold opposing opinions. Yet, despite all the disagreements, a number of wellness tips are well supported by research. Here are 10 health and nutrition tips that are actually based on good science.
1. Don’t drink sugar calories
Sugary drinks are among the most fattening items you can put into your body. This is because your brain doesn’t measure calories from liquid sugar the same way it does for solid food Therefore, when you drink soda, you end up eating more total calories Sugary drinks are strongly associated with obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and many other health problems Keep in mind that certain fruit juices may be almost as bad as soda in this regard, as they sometimes contain just as much sugar. Their small amounts of antioxidants do not negate the sugar’s harmful effects
3. Avoid processed junk food
(eat real food instead) Processed junk food is incredibly unhealthy. These foods have been engineered to trigger your pleasure centres, so they trick your brain into overeating — even promoting food addiction in some people They’re usually low in fibre, protein, and micronutrients but high in unhealthy ingredients like added sugar and refined grains. Thus, they provide mostly empty calories.
2. Eat nuts
Despite being high in fat, nuts are incredibly nutritious and healthy. They’re loaded with magnesium, vitamin E, fibre, and various other nutrients Studies demonstrate that nuts can help you lose weight and may help fight type 2 diabetes and heart disease Additionally, your body doesn’t absorb 10–15% of the calories in nuts. Some evidence also suggests that this food can boost metabolism. In one study, almonds were shown to increase weight loss by 62%, compared with complex carbs
4. Don’t fear coffee
Coffee is very healthy. It’s high in antioxidants, and studies have linked coffee intake to longevity and a reduced risk of type 2 diabetes, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases, and numerous other illnesses
5. Eat fatty fish
6. Sleep
7. Take care of your gut health with probiotics and fibre
8. Drink some water, especially before meals
9. Don’t overcook or burn your meat
10. Avoid bright lights before sleep
Fish is a great source of high-quality protein and healthy fat. This is particularly true of fatty fish, such as salmon, which is loaded with omega-3 fatty acids and various other nutrients Studies show that people who eat the most fish have a lower risk of several conditions, including heart disease, dementia, and depression
The bacteria in your gut, collectively called the gut microbiota, are incredibly important for overall health. A disruption in gut bacteria is linked to some of the world’s most serious chronic diseases, including obesity Good ways to improve gut health include eating probiotic foods like yogurt and sauerkraut, taking probiotic supplements, and eating plenty of fibre. Notably, fibre functions as fuel for your gut bacteria
Meat can be a nutritious and healthy part of your diet. It’s very high in protein and contains various important nutrients. However, problems occur when meat is overcooked or burnt. This can lead to the formation of harmful compounds that raise your risk of cancer When you cook meat, make sure not to overcook or burn it.
The importance of getting enough quality sleep cannot be overstated. Poor sleep can drive insulin resistance, disrupt your appetite hormones, and reduce your physical and mental performance What’s more, poor sleep is one of the strongest individual risk factors for weight gain and obesity. One study linked insufficient sleep to an 89% and 55% increased risk of obesity in children and adults, respectively
Drinking enough water can have numerous benefits. Surprisingly, it can boost the number of calories you burn. Two studies note that it can increase metabolism by 24– 30% over 1–1.5 hours. This can amount to 96 additional calories burned if you drink 8.4 cups (2 litres) of water per day. The optimal time to drink it is before meals. One study showed that downing 2.1 cups (500 ml) of water 30 minutes before each meal increased weight loss by 44%.
When you’re exposed to bright lights in the evening, it may disrupt your production of the sleep hormone melatonin. One strategy is to use a pair of amber-tinted glasses that block blue light from entering your eyes in the evening. This allows melatonin to be produced as if it were completely dark, helping you sleep better.
THE FORMULA OF ANTI-AGING
You are not twenty-one anymore! Now its time to start looking at the possibilities for anti-aging, not in the form of surgeries, treatments, or pills, but in exercising. When you begin to get older, your body will most likely go through different functions. Cells in your body may begin to slow down as you begin to get older. There may be differences in the rate that your metabolism is able to work. Because you are not growing anymore, you do not necessarily need the hormone for growth, meaning that it will slow down. This particular hormone slowing down will also cause for the rest of the body to slow down, which begins the aging process. How can you get the slowing down of age to speed up? One of the most obvious keys that you can use to help you is by staying active. It is proven that exercise can help to slow down the aging process, and that it keeps everything else going at a higher rate. By keeping in physical shape, you will be able to help communication with your body about what it needs in order to stay at its best. This particular communication can help your body both internally and externally. Exercise will first help the aging process by creating different capacities in the body. This will mostly be done by aerobic exercises. Things as simple as walking and running, or even swimming can help to strengthen your internal system. Whenever you do this, you will be speeding up the heart rate for thirty minutes a day. Your metabolism and immune system will be they keys for your body to also move faster to keep up with your heart rate. Not only will it help these functions, but will also strengthen the heart and its ability to beat regularly and properly. Exercise is a natural way to keep your internal systems working better, not only during the time that you are exercising, but also throughout the day. One of the major parts of aging is that
there is a loss of thicker muscle tissue, causing weaker body functions. However, this can also be prevented with the right amount of exercise. By continuing to keep muscle strength up, you will be communicating with the muscle tissue, as well as other tissues to stay stronger. The muscles will not only gain in strength, but also in flexibility and coordination. By building muscle, you will continuously be enabling lean muscle mass, one of the most essential parts to body functioning. These are things that should continuously improve as you age. When you do not work them moderately at least thirty minutes a day, it can cause your body to weaken instead of strengthen as you grow older. As you age, it will help you to maintain regular, everyday activities, such as lifting objects and walking up stairs. One of the most obvious ways that exercise effects aging is by the ability to stay at the right weight. Obesity and being overweight are some of the largest factors that relate to one being and staying overweight. The extra stresses from too much weight can cause the bones and muscles to weaken, instead being overtaken by resources in your body that are not as effective in the overall functioning. Being overweight or obese is one of the major problems that leads to diseases and dis-functions from the body, which eventually contribute to problems with age. If you want an easy anti-aging supplement, then it can begin with you simply moving every day for thirty days. Exercise effects aging in a positive way, and helps you to keep blowing out your birthday candles with one breath. It not only helps you to keep your attractive physique, but also will help your internal tissues and functions to stay in place like they should. If you want to live longer and healthier life, then making sure that you exercise will help you with all of your efforts to fight age.

To start, we have some fascinating cities such as Rome, Florence, Torino, Naples, Milano to mention a few. Our landscapes are breathtaking. Just think of the Amalfi
Q.7) Can you share your successful life journey? Ornella: I would like to say in general that life is an extraordinary journey with many ups and inevitable downs. The ups are the fuel you need to dream big and satisfy your ambitions. The downs make you stronger (and the mistakes teach you valuable lessons). At this point in my life, I would not change anything as I am happy with the woman that I become because of my ups and downs. I am a happy mother and a happy partner. I enjoy living simply and honestly at the end of the day. Regard my business, I would like to use a quote to express my passion for my career “Do what you love, and you’ll never work another day in your life.” That’s how I feel about
my job that has become my everyday challenge for the past 15 years. I love the 360-degree aspect of my work. I cannot imagine anything more fulfilling than my job. Brindiamo! guarantee this one will ever make it beyond the ideas stage and into a real product. Certainly don’t expect it in the Galaxy Note 20, but with megapixel count now appearing less important, perhaps next year’s Galaxy S30 or Note 30 will be a six-lens behemoth.
Facebook Buys Google Street View Competitor Mapillary
Forward-looking: Is the next trend in smartphone design to see how many rear cameras they can hold? Yes, if a Samsung patent is any indication. It suggests a future handset that sports not only a massive six cameras, but each one is also individually tiltable.
Samsung applied for the patent, spotted by Dutch site LetsGoDigital (via BGR), back in December, and it was published by the World Intellectual Property Office last week. It describes an array containing five wide-angle cameras with a focal length of 28mm, alongside a
telephoto lens and a LED flash. While we’ve already seen phones with a high number of cameras, such as the fivecamera Nokia 9 PureView, Samsung’s patent has an interesting extra element. Each of the six cameras has the ability to move, or tilt, independently,
It wasn’t all that long ago that digital maps weren’t even a thing. I can vividly remember going on family vacations armed with little more than a road atlas from the local gas station (and more often than not, simply pulling out an old version from the glove box). Between paper maps and road signs, that’s all you really had to go on when navigating unfamiliar territory. My, how times have changed. Facebook this week acquired Swedish-based crowdsourced mapping firm Mapillary for an undisclosed sum. Launched in 2013 as an iPhone app, Mapillary is a mapping platform that takes images submitted by users of their local
communities and stitches them together to create constantly evolving street-level maps. The company added support for Android users in early 2014. As of last year, Mapillary’s database contained over a billion photos. In contrast, firms like Google utilize internal teams to capture street-level imagery for use in Google Maps. This strategy gives them greater control over the quality of the photos they capture but also means that images are updated far less often compared to the massive network of users that Mapillary has. Mapillary co-founder Jan Erik Solem said the company will continue to serve as a global platform for imagery, map data
and improving maps. Users will still be able to upload imagery just as they always have and use map data from existing photos on the platform. Moving forward, however, all imagery on Mapillary will also be open for commercial use free of charge.

Most of the lounges and food counters will be closed. Passengers have to go through with several health check ups or submit different documents pertaining to their health ,according to the airline company rules before boarding the flight. Now you have to stand in large

OVER A THIRD OF DRIVERS TO STOP CAR SHARING AS A RESULT OF COVID-19
◊ Fines, penalty points and community service just some of the punishments that Brits want for pavement parkers ◊ 2-in-10 want an immediate ban on pavement parking ◊ 4-in-10 would report an offender if it is banned reports YourParkingSpace.co.uk
Over a third of people questioned are planning to stop car sharing permanently in the wake of COVID-19 according to Motorpoint. Motorists who park on a pavement should receive a fine, penalty points or even community service according to a new study by online parking portal YourParkingSpace.co.uk. According to the latest research almost 2-in-10 want to see a £50 fine or less, 1-in-10 favour a £100 fine or more, while about 1-in-20 want to impose three points on a driving licence or even community service. Even more revealing was that almost 2-in-10 thought that motorists who park on the pavement are selfish. But while some would like a harsh clampdown on pavement parkers, there was also a sizeable number, almost 4-in10, who wouldn’t want to inflict any sort of fine or punishment at all. Harrison Woods, managing director at YourParkingSpace.co.uk, said: “The issue of pavement parking has always fiercely divided the nation, for some it is a daily occurrence while for others it
is not something they face regularly, and the levels of preferred fines and punishments also reflect this. “Indeed, our new research shows that some people want severe penalties, including driving awareness courses, while for many Brits it does not seem to be an issue that deserves stern intervention.” Further findings from the survey of 500 people found that 4-in-10 would report someone parking on a pavement if it is banned across the UK, something that might happen following a government consultation which is due later this year. However, that is not soon enough for some as the study also found that 2-in-10 would like to see an immediate ban. A new web-based survey by the UK’s largest independent car retailer, which has a network of branches across England, Scotland and Wales, found 41.3 per cent of people thought giving a lift to people was now a thing of the past due to the pandemic. Some 750 people took part in the poll on the Motorpoint website – www.motorpoint.co.uk. The results of the poll come as traffic volumes in the UK continue to steadily increase to almost pre-lockdown levels. According to the RAC, there has been a 19 per cent increase in the number of vehicles on the road between late March and early June – driven in part by calls by the Government for people not to use public transport except where they have no alternative. Mark Carpenter, Chief Executive Officer of Motorpoint, said: “The results of our poll are clearly understandable given COVID-19 and definitely reflect the desire by people to maintain social distancing at all times when outside of their

would prefer not to visit the branch, backed by its 14 day hassle free, money back guarantee together with its Price Promise. Meet Syed Rahat Ali Shah, the British Bodybuilding Champion and Fitness trainer Pakistan’s Birmingham-based British Bodybuilding Champion and fitness trainer Syed Rahat Ali Shah said the scenario of international sports has changed altogether due to growing coronavirus pandemic and now all the sports competitions including bodybuilding will likely to be conducted with extraordinary preventive measures across the globe; he expressed these views in his exclusive telephonic conversation with ‘Sports Times International’ Magazine on May 3 (Wednesday). Rahat Ali Shah said definitely it’s a deadly virus and right now, the entire world is facing the chaos of coronavirus. “It is the perfect time for every individual especially sports persons to take extra care to get rid of this pandemic. We need to adopt all the essential measures to fight this deadly epidemic effectively,” he added. “My message for sports persons especially bodybuilders in the present scenario is that they must stay at home and keep on trying to do some home activity or body weight training to boost their immune system. “We should drink lemon in hot water quite frequently and avoid junk food as much as we can,” he opined. Replying a query regarding international bodybuilding events affected by coronavirus, Rahat, who became the first Asian and Pakistani to clinch coveted British Bodybuilding title at Nottingham in October 2018, informed that all international bodybuilding events have been cancelled due to this fatal virus. “I was quite prepared both mentally and physically to compete in the coveted event of Arnold Classic in Spain in September this year but unfortunately it has
been deferred and now Arnold Classic and other top bodybuilding events will be rescheduled probably next year depending on the world condition in the wake of coronavirus pandemic,” he explained. Answering a query, British Bodybuilding Champion Rahat Ali Shah said the feeling of representing Pakistan in top international events abroad and then earning laurels can’t be expressed in words. “Definitely, the love for the country is a great blessing and our youth must inculcate this spirit among them and if they managed to do this then nobody can halt their way to success,” he added. Rahat Shah achieved several remarkable distinctions in the field of bodybuilding during his brief career. His outstanding achievements in bodybuilding despite living overseas are definitely a great source of inspiration for young and emerging bodybuilders in Pakistan. Rahat, who has studied fashion photography and graphic designing in UK, excelled in UKBFF Championship getting first place in 2017 and also emerged ABF Overall Champion the same year. Rahat, who launched his bodybuilding career in UK in 2017, finished 6th in IFBB Arnold World Classic Bodybuilding Championship in Spain in 2018 and after just two weeks time he emerged triumphant in British Bodybuilding Championship in Men’s Physique Category. He became the first Asian and Pakistani to clinch this coveted title at Nottingham in October 2018. It may be recalled here that top 20 competitors from across the Britain participated in this event. Moreover, he also got top position in Sugar Classic events in 2017 and 2019 at Leicester, England. Rahat, who is a fashion designer by profession, informed that after grabbing 6th position
in IFBB Arnold World Classic Championship now he is eligible to participate in all leading international bodybuilding competitions throughout the world. “Becoming world champion in bodybuilding is my next goal. I’m working hard to achieve this fabulous distinction. I know it’s not an easy task but I’m quite determined to grab this honour in future,” he asserted. Rahat, who also has a respectable status as a fashion model, urged the Pakistan youth to serve the beloved motherland with great amount of sincerity and commitment. “Our country is a blessing of Allah. It has given us a true identity and everything. We must spend all of our energies and talent for the wellbeing and development of our country,” he expressed his sentiments in a bit emotional tone. Answering a question regarding govt support for bodybuilders and fitness trainers in Britain, Rahat said top bodybuilders and fitness trainers in Britain got plenty of financial support and this support provides them much needed motivation to do extra hard work. Rahat Shah said the trend of fitness training and bodybuilding is growing rapidly across the world including Pakistan. Even the fitness culture is being adopted as life style in several countries. “It is a positive sign that the passion of bodybuilding is growing among Pakistani youngsters but unfortunately they did not get qualified trainers to provide them proper guidance and certainly it is a bitter fact”. Elaborating his point Rahat said nonqualified trainers are posing serious threat to young bodybuilders because usually they don’t have proper knowledge and information about modern bodybuilding. “Generally young boys only watch some past photographs of their trainer and assume that they can become like him in a brief time which is impossible. Young bodybuilders should not follow the instructions of a non-qualified trainer blindly regarding the use of any drug. Always do proper research before taking anything,” Rahat advised. Responding a question regarding importance of diet in the fitness of a bodybuilder, Rahat told that diet has 80 percent role in body fitness of an athlete. “It is imperative for everybody to have proper information and knowledge about nutrition and diet plans. Our young boys and girls must follow diet plan strictly if they wished to attain the ideal body fitness and success as well”. He said right food, right train-
ing and proper sleep can bring a positive change in a bodybuilder’s life. “I always make it clear to my juniors and students that they can become better than me, but for this purpose, they need to bring consistency and discipline in their lives. Pakistan youngsters want to become Arnold Schwarzenegger overnight which is impossible. Our young generation needs to show patience to achieve their goals,” he advised. Rahat Shah, who is a pure family man, provides big inspiration to those who want to achieve their goals. He proved his doubters wrong through his sheer determination when many peo-
ple guessed that he could not become a top bodybuilder. “The motivation and support from my family especially my daughter played a big role in my achievements as bodybuilder, fitness trainer and fashion designer”. Shah told that he suffered an injury in the UK which halted his progress for a short while but with the support from his family especially his daughter, who inspired and motivated him to start training again, he managed to regain his excellent shape in just 12 weeks time.
Leeds United fan creates turban using the colours of his favourite team
Mr Singh with his family and Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa (Chaz Singh/PA) Chaz Singh, a Sikh football fan created a match day turban using the colours of his favourite team, to show how united the sport is. The 34 year old from Bradford came up with the idea for a Leeds United turban with his kids, Hari and AJ. He told the PA news agency: “My kids love Leeds as much as anyone could and we all also love our culture and heritage. We were sat in our living room one day when Hari, my eldest, said ‘Daddy, if you love your turban and love Leeds, I’m going to make you a Leeds turban.” “So he wrapped a Leeds United scarf around my head in the style of a turban. I posted a picture of it on social media and it got a really positive response, and it then evolved from a scarf to a proper turban.” “The response I got was from everyone, every background, young and old, from Sikhs and non-Sikhs - everyone seemed to understand what it stood for, which is unity.” Chaz Singh stated that people often ask for pictures with him at matches.
He currently has only one turban, however, he is hoping that other people will wear similar turbans in the future. The turban is created out of several long pieces of cloth in blue, yellow and white that Mr Singh put together himself. He said: “The turban to Sikhs is like a king’s crown - its part of our identity and we wear it with pride and honour. To be able to mix that with a club I love has been a wonderful experience.” “To be honest it started out as a bit of fun but has become somewhat of a symbol of the diversity and, more importantly, the unity of Leeds United.”
