HAREHILLS MAN JAILED FOR LIFE FOR MURDERING HIS WIFE BY RAHEEMA KHAN A man who murdered his wife ‘in appallingly violent circumstances’ at their family home in Leeds has been jailed for life. Sajid Pervez, aged 38, was sentenced to life on Friday 19 February with a minimum of 22 years and 32 days at Leeds Crown Court after pleading guilty last month to the murder of Abida Karim, aged 39.
Leeds Crown Court heard how Sajid hit 39-year-old Abida Karim over the head and in the face with a hammer 'at least 15 times' before 'sawing' her neck with a kitchen knife he had bought days earlier. The heinous attack happened in the couple's bedroom in their home on Hovingham Terrace in Harehills at about 5am on 24 September last year.
