MANILA – United States Secretary of State John Kerry visited President rodrigo Duterte at the Malacañang Palace for his courtesy call before noon on Wednesday, July 27. Summarizing the meeting, presidential spokesperson ernesto Abella said the two discussed ways on how to strengthen the relationship between the Philippines and the US. “My purpose in coming to Manila today is to underscore the value that the United States places on the alliance and the true friendship and relationship that we have with the people of this country,” Kerry told on Wednesday during a morning joint press briefing with Philippine foreign Affairs Secretary Perfecto Yasay Jr. Duterte and Kerry also discussed common issues such as terrorism, crimes, and maritime security, with proposed solutions. Arriving on Tuesday, July 26, Kerry’s trip to Manila is the last leg of his Asian trip after attending ASeAN meetings in Vientiane, Laos. A GUNfIGhT in San Diego on Thursday, July 28 between police and at least one gunman claimed the life of a filipino-American veteran police officer while leaving his partner and one suspect hospitalized. At least one unnamed suspect opened fire on officers shortly after being stopped by Jonathan “JD” DeGuzman and his partner, Wade Irwin of the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) in the city’s Southcrest neighborhood, according to a statement released by the department.
“…There has never been a man or a woman, not me, not Bill, nobody more qualified than hillary Clinton to serve as President of the United States of America,” he said. In making her case against her opponent in the general election, republican nominee Donald J. Trump, Clinton painted him as unpredictable and someone the country should not trust to make critical decisions. She even appealed that she would be a president for all Americans — even those who identify with a different party.

MANILA – The Philippines will officially host the upcoming Miss Universe beauty pageant early next year. “I would like to inform everybody that the Miss Universe Beauty Pageant will be on January 30, 2017 here in the Philippines,” Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Wanda Teo announced on Thursday, July 28.
“We have a president who comes from Mindanao, and our Miss Universe is from Mindanao, so I think this is the best time for us to do the Miss Universe here in the Philippines,” she said. According to Teo, the DOT is considering holding the event at the Mall of Asia Arena
