New poll shows income not a shield against discrimination DesPite having incomes above the average of other ethnic or racial groups in the United states, many Asian Americans experience and perceive notable discrimination in their daily lives, according to results from a recently released study. A study, entitled “Discrimination in America: experiences and Views of Asian Americans,” was released on Wednesday, December 6 as part of a series conducted by national Public radio (nPr), the robert Wood Johnson foundation, and harvard t.h. Chan school of Public health. the study looked to gain insight into people’s own personal experiences with discrimination. “our poll shows that Asian American families have the highest average income among the groups we’ve surveyed, and yet the poll still finds that Asian Americans experience persistent discrimination in housing, jobs, and college,” robert Blendon, professor of health policy and analysis at the harvard Chan school, told nPr. “over the course of our series, we are seeing again and again that income is not a shield from discrimination.” According to the report, of the 500 Asian Americans who participated in the survey
