ASIAN FILM AWARDS ACADEMY The Asian Film Awards Academy, a non-profit organisation, was founded by Busan, Hong Kong and Tokyo International Film Festivals with the shared goal of celebrating excellence in Asian cinema. Aiming to promote and recognize
Asian films and its talents, AFAA highlights, strengthens and develops Asian film industry through the annual Asian Film Awards and several year-round initiatives.
Our year-round events and programmes are held with the objectives to promote
Asian films to a wider audience, expand the film market within Asia, and build and sustain connections among Hong Kong and international film professionals.
Masterclass Series – in conversation with filmmakers, Journey to the fest –
Student Visit to International Film Festivals, Asian Cinerama – Film Roadshow, and Young Film Professionals Programme – overseas training and workplacement, are examples of our year-round programmes. These programmes
couldn not have been held successfully without the financial support of Create
Hong Kong and Film Development Fund of the HKSAR Government. AFAA has
worked to promote, educate, inform and develop knowledge, skills and interest in Asian cinema among the industry, students and audience in Asia and beyond with the support of film festivals and cultural organisations.

On a night like any other, Ming, with his wife and mother-in-law, found a dead body at their doorstep. Born in 1987, Ho Cheuk Tin is a Hong Kong filmmaker who graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. He is experienced in various productions and directed the successful short film, “Foul”. Ho also co-founded and creates content for YouTube channel “Mocking Jer”. His debut feature film, “The Sparring Partner”, based on a notorious Hong Kong case, became a box office hit and received 16 nominations at the Hong Kong Film Awards 2023. 6

25 years ago in the summer of 1997, 3 high school classmates Chit, Ana, and Raymond embarked on a joint journey, purchasing their first ever cell phones and making a pact. The trio exchanged texts and vowed to reunite in 2022 to open these messages. All three of them experience an unusual day on account of their modern day smartphones, and end up discovering a newfound meaning to their respective lives. They culminate in a reunion, revealing how technology complicated their lives and reshaped their destinies.

Amos WHY began his career working in local print media before moving to TV, film and advertising. After years of directing TV series for local broadcaster RTHK, WHY made his directorial debut with the drama "Dot 2 Dot" (2014), which earned him a nomination for Best New Director at the Hong Kong Film Awards. In 2018, he directed a crime thriller, "Napping Kid", then explored the romance genre for his third film, "Far Far Away" (2022).

Inspired by a sensational 2013 family murder, Henry Cheung partnered up with his friend Angus Tong to murder and dismember his parents. In the courtroom, two veteran lawyers, Wilson Ng and Carrie Yau, defend the pair pleading not guilty. The prosecutor Allen Chu suggests the murder was a calculated move for money. But the plot thickens when Ng and Yau begin to present their case, and when Tong rebuts all accusations on his own. The truth becomes all the more elusive as the defendants play the role of ‘genius’ and ‘idiot’ in court. In the breakroom, discussions between the nine jury members spiraled into debates of right and wrong.

Dora Choi, an avid traveller born in Hong Kong, is a documentary director with over a decade of experience in mainstream media, focusing on politics and social issues. "To Be Continued" is their first documentary feature as co-directors.

Aubrey Lam graduated from the Faculty of Arts, University of Hong Kong. She studied for a master's degree in film at Loyola Marymount University in America. She debuted as a writerdirector with “Twelve Nights” (2000), with other works including “Hidden Track”, “Anna & Anna” and “The Truth About Beauty”.

The movie “One Night in School” describes three groups of totally irrelevant people who accidentally encounter in an abandoned school one night. One group includes five beauties who go there for a livestreaming programme. Several people from a criminal gang are also in the school that night to carry out some revenge action. The last group comprises of two guys who have stolen and stored the dead body of a Singaporean rich man in the school. By taking care of their own matter at the same place at the same time, the three groups unintentionally intertwine and the adventure unfolds.
