I visited a NightCare centre in Cambodia recently and met one of the mothers of the little ones there. She told me that she started working in red-light districts when she was only 11 years old. Having an 11-year-old daughter myself, I found her story just so heartbreaking. It's really hard for these women because a lot of them don't have a choice, and they’re forced to be there... - Joanna Ryan, Program Manager at Asian Aid and a mum to four children

babies and toddlers, aren’t you indirectly supporting mothers to continue working in this industry?
With your support, this is what NightCare means for the babies and toddlers in our care:
• Secure centres where little ones can sleep peacefully and safely
• Healthy meals for their hungry tummies
• Clean clothes they can take home in the mornings
• Playtime for fun and learning, and so that they can be children again
• Nannies who are trained, supportive and empathetic
• Literacy and numeracy support so the little ones can be ready for school
Red-light districts in Cambodia are full of women whose stories are heartbreaking. They engage in their work due to economic necessity, systematic inequality, or lack of alternatives. The root causes are beyond complex, and their daily reality is devastating. Providing NightCare simply acknowledges the reality of their circumstances. With your help, in providing safety, security and care for their babies and toddlers, we are supporting the wellbeing of some of the most vulnerable little ones around; the least of the least of these.
