LAUNCH 2019
On the 9th of February, Ashwa Racing hosted its annual Launch Event at college to display the new prototypes. The event was attended by the sponsor representatives, faculty, students, friends and the entire Ashwa Racing family. This year, the launch also marked 15 years of the Ashwa Racing legacy. Over the past few years, Ashwa has had a remarkable, progressive and successful journey. Ashwa started with a Combustion prototype in the year 2005. Fast forward to a few victories and a few years later, Ashwa launched its first ever hybrid in the year 2015 followed by the launch of a few more prototypes.

One of the key highlights of the launch this year was that Ashwa also launched their first ever Electric Prototype, despite the technical fault, the team’s hard work and effort paid off. Their perseverance and dedication not only made us proud, but also marked a new beginning in the Ashwa History. The day started off by a talk from Mr. Arunraj, Mr. Dilbagh Gill, Team Principal, Mahindra Racing and our team faculty advisor Dr. RS Kulkarni. Their words moved and left the whole team pumped up and motivated to continue their winning and victory streak. This was followed by mementoes being given to our sponsors, whom we are thankful for their constant support which always encourages the team to excel at what they do. The team then went on to brief the gathering about all the achievements and new goals Ashwa accomplished in the past one year. The gathering was also briefed about all of the four prototypes: Combustion, Hybrid, Electric, and PE. Ashwa also displayed the progress of the OSV prototype and the chassis of the same was displayed at the workshop. The OSV prototype is set to debut in Tubitak Energy Efficiency Challenge in Turkey this August 2019. www.ashwaracing.com

THE UNVEILING
This year marked the launch of Ashwa’s first running electric prototype. The electric was run by Rhea Arora. This was followed by the launch of 2019 Hybrid prototype which was run by Shashank Vivek. The 2019 Hybrid car is set to take part in Formula Hybrid held in New Hampshire in the month of May and will be shipped to US in the first week of March. Last but definitely not the least, the 2019 combustion prototype RZ-X9C was driven by the team captain Asfan Khan and definitely stole the limelight with all the power and fancy showcasing of what they calleda donut. 5 March Newsletter

FORMULA BHARAT 2019
The combustion prototype – RZ-X9C took part in Formula Bharat held in Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore from 23rd to 27th January, 2019. The prototype was powered by a Suzuki GSXR-600cc engine. The prototype consists of other OEM components such as the Willwood PS1 Calipers, Drexler LSD Differential, and ZF dampers which were incorporated on a careful make vs buy analysis.
Static Events The rulebook compliance and technicalities of the car were extensively scrutinized. The team managed to www.ashwaracing.com

clear the technical inspection with fair ease. Apart from these, the car was also tested on the following basis ● Brakes ● Noise ● Tilt The static events also comprises of the Design Event, Buisness Presentation, and the Cost event.
Design Event: Design event evaluates the student’s engineering process and effort that went into the design of the vehicle as well as the ability to meet the market needs. The team was one of the few teams to progress to the finals of the Design event, amongst more than 60 teams.
Business Presentation: The objective of the business event is to evaluate the ability of the team to develop a business model, given a hypothetical situation where the team builds the cars on a commercial scale.
Cost Event: The cost event evaluates the team’s understanding of the manufacturing process and costs associated with components on the car. This assessment includes qualitative/ quantitative analysis, the tradeoff such as make or buy decisions and understanding the difference between prototype and mass production. Dynamic Events After the static events, the team directed its efforts towards the dynamic events. Dynamic events consist of Acceleration, Skidpad, Autocross and Endurance events. The team carried over its strong showing in the Acceleration event from the last race season. The car roared to thumping 2nd place in the Acceleration. All in all, Formula Bharat was steep learning curve for the team. With an understanding on the areas that need to be worked on, the team now directs its efforts towards the upcoming FS Italy event in the month of July.

IMTEX 2019
As a part of the team’s networking and PR activities, we visited IMTEX 2019, held in Bengaluru from 24th to 30th January. IMTEX is a flagship event for the Indian machine tool cutting industry organized by the Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers Association. The event showcased the machine tool accessories, tooling systems and the current/upcoming trends in the tooling industry. The event was attended by both Indian and foreign exhibitors, demonstrating the latest technologies and manufacturing solutions for their product lines. 11 March Newsletter www.ashwaracing.com
During the event, the we also interacted with some of our existing sponsors who had exhibited their wide range of products and technology. We at Ashwa Mobility are grateful to have had this opportunity to interact with various industrialists and dignitaries that were present during the event, thereby expanding our network and receiving their valuable inputs at the same time which has constantly motivated us to expand our domain and think beyond the horizon.

ALUMNUS OF THE MONTH
Gokul Suresh, the team captain of X7C, belonged to the Drivetrain and HR subsystem. Being the sole member of his subsystem, his contributions to the project have been invaluable. His team mates have rightly associated him to half shafts, as he was the go to person, if the half shafts broke- irrespective of what time of the day it was. His dedication and outspoken nature often set him apart from the rest of the team. Gokul, by nature, is an extremely fun loving person. He's the kind who adored ALL his teammates and cared for them, except he never explicitly showed it. He was also extremely protective of them, as he would not tolerate any sort of obloquy against a single member/team by anyone for that matter. He ensured www.ashwaracing.com

that no member was stressed to their threshold level, he would help them regain their composure. He has played an instrumental role in all of X8's decisions. It is safe to say that Gokul has been an ideal team captain and one of Ashwa's best team captains so far. Gokul has been admired by all his subsystem juniors. He has been of great support to them. His hardworking nature, high levels of patience and calmness, and his overall personality is the reason why his juniors idolize him and resort to him for guidance. He even accompanied the X8C team to Formula Bharat, 2018. He has motivated the team captains of the junior teams and ensured to keep their spirits up high! Gokul has been applauded by his teammates and friends for his emotional, mental and physical strength. At Formula Bharat 2017, things didn't seem to go well for the X7C team. They encountered multiple unforeseen circumstances and the team's morale was starting to fall rapidly. It was Gokul, who then consoled the other team leaders and team members, cheered them up and motivated them to work for the Italian event- despite all the struggles the team came across throughout the national event. Gokul is currently working with ABB. His juniors continue to seek direction from him and miss him immensely at the workshop.
