Hosting the Formula Bharat workshop
Ashwa Racing and RVCE had the wonderful opportunity to host the Formula Bharat Academy workshop series, which is dedicated towards helping FS teams to achieve their best on the playing field. Several topics such as rules, cost report, business presentation, design event, team building and so on, were covered. Valuable lessons were learnt by teams, both young and experienced. Sharing the knowledge gained by various teams on a common platform was a great display of the spirit of Formula Student.

The hybrid project progreses The hybrid team has all hands on deck to complete the last phase of manufacturing. As deadlines draw close, the team gears up for the tightly scheduled assembly phase in a zealous attempt to raise the bar already set high by their senior team, which had gone on to secure the 2nd place at Formula Hybrid 2017.

Assembly phase
The combustion chassis has been sandblasted and powder coated in the sentimental red, four months prior to the upcoming event - Formula Bharat 2018. The team has also begun testing of the newly arrived engine - Suzuki GSXR 600 and assembly of various modules.

Having taken part in Formula Student events for over 13 years, the team has grown leaps and bounds in terms of exploring various aspects of the automotive sector. The time has come to use this vast amount of knowledge and experience gained in race car engineering to provide mass transportation solutions, which has been the vision of the team, right from its inception.

The Open Source Vehicle Programme would be a breath of fresh air to the aging and unsustainable automotive industry. The vehicle is built on an opensource model, which involves the use of source code and documentation available to the public - A noble pursuit that saves millions in R&D.
As the first step towards solving the conundrum of mass mobility, the team has undertaken the OSV Open Source Vehicle Programme. Being the precursor of autonomous vehicles, OSV is the ideal platform for integrating computational systems to vehicle infotainment systems that inturn facilitate more efficient data acquisition.

The team is all set to be a part of the AECCA Expo 2017, a trade show in India being held for three days presenting latest trends and technology from all the entrepreneurs involved in creative and productive innovations of the industry covering a broad spectrum of prod ucts. Ashwa Racing being a student research and devlopment programme working towards the innovations in the automotive
sector is keen on setting up a display of its prototype amidst vistors and Industry professionals as it provides the team a great opportunity to come to pace with the nations ever growing trends in automotive technology. ALUMNUS OF THE MONTH Siva Subramanian was a member of the batch of 2012, that built the iconic RZ-X2 and set high standards for future batches in Ashwa Racing. Siva was known for his astute thinking; employing his ample Engineering Wisdom to everyday problems at Ashwa Racing. It is for this reason that people often found themselves looking for Siva in the workshop at all hours. The fact that they often weren't disappointed is a testament to his unmatched dedication. Most people in an FSAE team tend to mind their business by doing only what is expected of them. Siva was one of a kind - he always knew what was happening on the car and worked on the car as a whole due to his willingness to go the extra mile. He was often typified by the team for his skinny appearance. Despite being a non-mechanical student, he was the go-to person for juniors seeking advice in matters of manufacturing, design procedure or even material properties of intricate components of the car, to which he always had a quick and cost effective solution. His focus of work was on the electricals of the car and his pragmatic approach ensured that the team had a stalwart to entrust the electrical subsystem of the car with. Siva also worked on the cost report of the 2012 Formula Student Italy competition and was the brain behind cost reductions in the car, that helped the team in securing the 2nd place in the cost event. Presently he is pursuing his Masters in the prestigious TU Delft. However, he continues to be an active alumnus of the project, constantly guiding members working on the electrical module of the car with utmost patience.
