Launch of the beasts
On the 13th of January, Ashwa Racing hosted its Launch Event in the college premises to officially unveil the new prototypes. Sponsor representatives, well-wishers, friends and families of all team members were invited to grace the ocassion with their presense. The Launch Event serves as a wonderful platform for interaction & knowledge transfer and creates a sense of togetherness among everyone involvd in the project. The Launch event is not just a mere unveiling for the team. It’s the day that pays off for all the efforts & sleepless nights that the team has put in. Every launch event is an important page in the history of Ashwa Racing and a conscious display of glamour and passion. Every member of Ashwa Racing is immensely proud of its glorious legacy. Along the way, as much as we learned about the latest technology and honed our managerial skills, we also understood the true essence of building a team : team spirit and the subtle art of unity.

The event commenced at 10am, with the lighting of the sacred lamp and honouring our college dignitaries for their constant support towards our project. Then Sweekruth Shetty, 4th year Team Captain gave us a brief overview of the 2017 Race season. The tech specs and design of each of our prototypes : Combustion, Hybrid and Electric was presented in a detailed manner. The whole new concept of Open Source Vehicles and their further application as a smart mobility alternative was also presented on stage.
Our major pillars of support, our partners, were warmly thanked for their constant support and motivation, with a token of appreciation. They were presented with a memento and a customised ASHWA RACING calendar. Few partners also took to the stage and expressed their thoughts about our project and their experience of working with us. The final year team members ( RZ-X8C batch ) was felicitated for their invaluable contribution to the growth of Ashwa Racing. In conclusion, our faculty advisor, Dr. R.S. Kulkarni gave a heartfelt talk thanking the gathering before proceeding to the rollout.

Taking steps towards Smart Mobility Ashwa Mobility Foundation has officially set foot into two new domains - The Electric Racecar Vehicle as well as the Open Source Vehicle concept, which were both showcased on the momentous ocassion of the rollout. The team strongly believes that this will mark the beginning of our quest towards mass mobility engineering solutions in the near future.
Built closely around the Open Source philosophy characterized by modularity, flexibility, scalability as well as collaborative platforms and diverse communities. To design, manufacture and test an energy efficient, scalable, fully connected and personalizable vehicle based on open source principles that overcomes common problems in urban transportation.

The highlight of the Launch Event becoming a roaring success was the extensive coverage of the event by reknowned media houses ( print and digital media alike ), amplifying the reach to people. The team would like to extend its warmest regards to Digvijaya News, Raj News, TV9, TV5, Public TV, Deccan Herald, Prajavani, Suvarna News, The New Indian Express, The Hindu and News 9 for publicising our hard efforts, which forever will mean a lot. Formula Bharat 2018 Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore The 2018 Combustion prototype - RZ-X8C, participated in Formula Bharat - 2018. The event was held from January 24th-28th, 2018 at Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore. Apart from the combustion category, Ashwa Racing also participated in the concept electric challenge - the first of its kind at Formula Bharat. The team cleared the technical inspection towards the end of Day-1 and in doing so, was 3rd in line to clear technical inspection at the event. Day-2 was filled with static events throughout the day with the team clearing tilt and brake test in its first attempt and noise in its second. The team participated in the dynamic events throughout the 3rd day. It set competitive timings in skidpad and autocross and set the all time record for the acceleration event at Formula Bharat! With a timing of 4.259s in acceleration, Ashwa Racing's RZ-X8C is currently the fastest FSAE car to be built in India. Towards the end of Day-3, Ashwa Racing also participated in the Business Presentation finals which was held at the center-stage in the presence of the event organisers and all the participants at the event.
The final day of the event - Day-4 was filled with both happiness and disappointments. With a podium finish in its sight, the team's hopes came crashing down when the car broke down during the endurance event. Albeit this misfortune, the team went on to win 4 accolades at the event: 1) Acceleration: 1st (Combustion) 2) Business Presentation: 2nd (Combustion) 3) Business Presentation: 2nd (Electric) 4) Cost Event: 3rd (Combustion)

Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association (IMTMA) organized its flagship IMTEX FORMING 2018 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) from 25 to 30 January 2018 in Bangalore. IMTEX FORMING 2018 was a significant exhibition for South East Asia with the presence of leading national and international manufacturing firms from the metal forming sector. It was a greatly expanded fair which featured all aspects of forming technologies, predominantly sheet metal forming. This exclusive business-to-business event attracted Indian and foreign exhibitors who offered a range of technologically innovative manufacturing and engineering products and applications. Ashwa Racing was privileged to have its partner - Pegasys Systems provide the team an opportunity to display its Hybrid prototype RZ-X7H at their stall at IMTEX. The prototype caught the eye of the crowd and also provided the team an excellent opportunity to explain our project to various industrialists across the globe and dignitaries from the trade commission of India; interacting with various companies and expanding our network ensuring that Ashwa Racing is now promoted as Ashwa Mobility Foundation. Ashwa Mobility Foundation is now taking steps to mark its presence amidst industry professionals. It has grown along with the changing demands, by expanding the project and showcasing and discussing its innovations with the world. ALUMNUS OF THE MONTH Shamveel,
fondly nicknamed Shaama, was a member of the Brakes and Logistics team of the 2017 batch of Ashwa Racing. He was a dedicated member of the team, striving hard to ensure that the team is always boosted up inorder to provide its best at any given event Apart from signifiant contributions in the development of the brakes subsytem, Shaama, being the selected driver of the car, spent sleepless nights during the testing phase, ensuring that the year long efforts of his team were done justice to, at the event. He has been one of the best drivers in Ashwa and we got the opportunity to have our car fine tuned by his driving experience. However tensed be the situation, he ensured that the team did not lose its calm and kept focusing on solving the issue. Juniors who worked under him found an inexpressable amount of ease & comfort in seeking guidance and tips on the technical front as well as the knack of handling an FSAE car on tracks. His passion and love for the team could be seen in every ounce of effort he invested into the project and the bond shared with every one of his teammates. Above all, his simplicity and down to earth nature is something the entire team at Ashwa Racing admires. It is very difficult to not possess any self pride for a person of his stature. His humble nature and politeness is something very difficult to achieve and shall continue to inspire all the upcoming batches at Ashwa. If one was asked to find a person who is extremely friendly, sweet and humble, who is hardworking and passionate about excelling at what he does, who is always there to raise the spirits when the morale is low no matter what may be the situation, without a doubt the only person that comes to our mind is Shamveel. He also came down to our most recent endeavour at Formula Bharat 2018, guided the team to go past difficult challenges. Post the completion of the course in the project, it becomes extremely difficult for anyone to get involved in the projects day to day activities, however Shamveel made sure that he was present with the team in the time of need. Right after the launch of the prototypes. Shaama, today we fall short of words to express our gratitude towards your support. Thank you so much for improving our stand and making us achieve this position. Our endeavour would not have been remarkable without your involvement. The car misses you, and more so does the team. Thank you once again for all your efforts and we wish you all the very best in your future endeavours.
