We are delighted to let you know that having successfully completed our first Hybrid prototype, RZX5H; we competed in Formula Hybrid 2015 and secured the 7th position. We also completed the 2015 combustion prototype, RZX5C and is currently on its way to Italy where it will set the track ablaze at Formula Student Italy 2015 in September.
Meanwhile, the design phase of RZX6C and RZX6H have neared completion and the procurement of materials and components is underway.

Ashwa racing
The RZ-X5H is the first hybrid vehicle designed and produced by Ashwa Racing. The car was showcased in Formula Hybrid 2015, conducted in New Hampshire, USA.
The team faced customs clearance issues as a result of which the car was not present at the first day of the competition. Despite such obstacles, electrical pre-inspection was cleared. This was considered as a remarkable achievement for a first year hybrid team. Ashwa Racing stood at the 7th position in the engineering design event as well as the project management presentation, Also overall position was 7th out of 17 other International Teams.

Focus of designs have been on improving dynamics and reducing weight but also maintaining ergonomic packaging.

Designs of RZX6-H are currently under review and preliminary manufacturing phase has begun.
This year with the Hybrid we concentrate on electrical component integration at a better level and battery architecture improvements. Additionally, considerable focus has been made on weight reduction.

ALUMNI OF THE MONTH
Shatath Vasishta was a team member of Ashwa Racing 2014 batch who worked on Vehicle Dynamics. He is currently open for the core job market and plans to Master in vehicle dynamics. Sharath was in charge of the Vehicle dynamics and suspension of RZX4. He undertook calculations of suspension force and dynamic parameters in order to select and source rims and dampers. Sharath was also responsible for implementing new methods of designing such as 3D line diagrams for suspension modelling and spread sheet calculators for suspension parameters.
Shatath Vasishta
Sharath has helped immensely for the 2015 cars. His suggestions and guidance regarding calculating suspension ride, roll rates and forces, design ideas for new pillow ball housings, upright clamps, gave suggestions on selection of materials for hubs and taught us concept of tolerance during thermal expansion, explained new methods of validation of upright stiffness, and also helped in manufacture of various complex suspension parts. He has certainly been a major contributor to Ashwa Racing knowledge transfer and sustainability.
