ASHWA RACING NOVEMBER 2016 NEWSLETTER
Dear Sponsors, Supporters and Fans, Formula Hybrid New Hampshire indeed turned out to be the moment Ashwa longed to cherish. A lot to learn, a lot to venture and a lot to celebrate for. Finishing 2nd in the design event, 2nd in the Project Management Presentation and securing the 4th position overall, left us all with a smile. So after bagging the 4th position overall at Formula Hybrid, the combustion team was looking to match this result at Czech Republic. With about 40teams participating, it was a competitive event. 2nd position in the cost event. This was our first podium finish and things looked good at that point. Overall we stood 21st. Had it not been for the engine breakdown, things would have gone smoothly.
The team is now gearing up for the 2017 season. Valuable lessons learn will be kept in mind and momentum in the static events will be maintained. All of this could be achieved only because of the faith the sponsors have kept in us and supported us. A warm thank you to all the well wishers.
RZ-X7H UPDATE
We have successfully registered for the Formula Hybrid 2017 competition as team number 016!. We scored 20 bonus points for an early submission of Structural Equilency Spreedsheet (SES) document bringing us one step closer to our aim of a podium finish in the event. With the mechanical assembly of our car complete we are in complete, synchronisation with our race plan. We aim to complete the final assembly by 20th November. The car scrutiny is running hand-in-hand with the assembly phase so as to ensure the car is completely safe for the testing phase which will commence on December 20th post our semester exams. In process we will be able to save precious time and make complete use of the timeline that is set.

ASHWA - ASM COLLABORATION
American Society for Metals was founded in 1913, in Detroit, Michigan, as the 'Steel Treaters Club' . This club was rechristened as American Society of Metals (ASM) in 1933 to deal with all aspects metals. In 1983, the Society expanded its technical scope, beyond metals, to include other engineered materials like composites, polymers, ceramics, and electronic materials. The Society's Head Quarters is in Materials Park, Ohio State, USA. (35 miles east of Cleveland).
The Bengaluru chapter of ASM has been in existence for about 8 years. It has about 35 members drawn voluntarily from prominent Industries and Institutions in and around Bengaluru.
The chapter is actively involved in conducting regular technical seminars and exhibitions on Heat treatment, Foundry, Forging, welding and other developments related to Materials & Processes at Bengaluru, to update the professional and student community. We would like to thank Dr. J R Nataraj, Associate Professor, Mechanical engineering, RVCE who is a member of ASM bengaluru chapter, for introducing us to the ASM team. We are happy to have Ankit Sahu as the alumnus of the month for October 2016. He was an active member of the 2009 batch who extensively worked on the vehicle dynamics as well as the manufacturing phase of the project.
