A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO PAUL REID

As we near the end of another demanding year, I would like to take this opportunity to give my heartfelt thanks, to all those working across the health and social care services, for their efforts and dedication over the past 12 months, and to wish you all a very happy and safe holiday season.

We are facing another uncertain festive season, with the COVID-19 virus hitting us hard with a fourth surge ongoing, resulting in unrelenting and increasing demands on staff, who continue to meet these challenges, day in and day out, across all of our services. Every one of you, in all areas of our health service has and have done, all that has been asked of them, in managing this virus time and time again.

The vaccination programme has shown how we can and do work together to deliver a historic programme of work, with our society placing trust and confidence in our health system, by delivering over 7.8m doses of this vaccine to date!

Thousands of HSE teams in conjunction with staff, GPs, officials, volunteers, the National Ambulance Service (NAS), Public Health, the Defence Forces, pharmacists, volunteers, and many others, across organisations in the public and private sector, have all played a significant role in the smooth and ongoing running of this programme. We express our sincere thanks to everyone involved. Your contribution has ensured that it has proceeded, in a safe and speedy manner, whilst achieving one of the world’s highest vaccination uptake rates.

One of our current focus’ is on the third dose and booster programme, to strengthen and ensure that our staff and the public, have the greatest protection from COVID-19 as we move through what will likely be our most challenging winter to date.

It may not be the Christmas that we hoped for or originally planned but we will come through this and hopefully have many great Christmases ahead. Again, thank you for all that you do every day, your support for your colleagues, teams and the health service in general.

Have a safe, healthy and happy Christmas and best wishes for 2022, for you and your families.
