Renewables Subsea Excavation Support
Challenge:
A customer undertaking a subsea excavation workscope in the Moray Firth required reliable pumping support capable of delivering the high flows and pressures needed for renewable energy project operations.
Solution:
An Ashtead Technology well service pump was mobilised offshore, chosen specifically for its ability to provide the high flow rates and pressures required to support efficient subsea excavation.
Results and impact:
The Ashtead Technology pump delivered the high flows and pressures needed for efficient subsea excavation, ensuring smooth project execution and demonstrating reliable support for offshore renewable operations.
Well Service Campaign
Challenge:
A customer required pumping support for a four-well service campaign in the Dutch sector of the North Sea, including injectivity tests, acid wash operations and annulus displacements.
Solution:
Two Zone 2 V16 / SPM2250 pumping units, along with two experienced technicians, were mobilised to site. Injectivity tests were carried out at 3m³ per minute ahead of the acid wash programme, with additional support provided for multiple annulus displacements.
Results and impact:
All planned well service activities were completed efficiently, with well injectivity successfully verified prior to the acid wash. Onsite expertise and specialist pumping equipment ensured enhanced reliability and strong operational support.

Subsea Tool Testing Support
Challenge:
Our customer needed to test their prototype subsea excavation tool, which required lifting seawater from the sea onto the harbour pier (a 7-metre lift at low tide) and then boosting water pressure to power the tool.
Solution:
Ashtead Technology provided a self-priming lifting pump to move seawater from the sea to the pier, followed by a second pump to increase water pressure for the prototype tool. We supplied all pumps, hoses and fittings and coordinated installation and training for the customer.
Results and impact:
The customer successfully completed their prototype testing operation with Ashtead Technology’s full pumping solution, ensuring efficient water delivery, reliable tool operation and seamless testing process.
Subsea Tree Pressure Test
Challenge:
A subsea horizontal christmas tree needed integrity testing before the arrival of a workover rig, requiring rapid mobilsation of technicians and equipment to a DSV.
Solution:
Ashtead Technology mobilised a pressure test spread at short notice, including our Zone 1 electric triplex pump HTP72, reels, compressors and instrumentation. The team completed installation and testing on location efficiently.
Results and impact:
The integrity test was successfully completed in approximately six hours, ensuring the subsea christmas tree was verified and ready ahead of the workover rig, minimising downtime and supporting safe operations.
