INTRODUCTION
Pele Plantations Current Branding
Pele Plantations is a small business that makes 100% Kona Coffee in Hawaii. Their company name and brand features Pele, the goddess of volcanoes and giver of lava rich soil that gives Kona coffee its sweet, distinctive flavors. Their current identity and package design is very simple and modern. I was inspired by this brands story and high quality coffee to re-design their branding and packaging with my own interpretation that is bold, warm, and “lava rich”.

It was important to take a close look at Pele Plantations current branding and identify their traits. Looking at things like cosmetic decisions as well as what kind of identity they are striving for. This was a step that really helped me with deciding what direction to take for my interpretation of the re-brand.
After looking at their current branding and establishing what they were trying to achieve, I evaluated my own design goals for the re-brand. I aimed to try and deliberate what aspects might change and what will stay the same. From my evaluation and research I chose some keywords to keep in mind going forward.

I experimented with some painted elements at first, but then decided to go more towards a graphic style & direction to better suit the logo. I then sketched out the graphics.
