Music Notes by: Ashley Sosis I can think of no more suitable words to print at the beginning of a program that contains blended music than the words of today’s Offertory Anthem, an ancient Latin (c. 10th century) prayer “Ubi Caritas” traditionally associated with Maundy Thursday. Here is the English translation of the full prayer (today’s anthem only contains the first and third stanza).

“Where there is charity and love, God is there.

The love of Christ has gathered us together.

Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Let us revere and love the living God. And from a sincere heart let us love one another.

Likewise, wherefore, when we come together, let us be united as one; Let us be careful, lest we be divided in intention.

Let us cease all quarrels and strife.

And Let Christ dwell in the midst of us.

May we also see, along with the blessed, The glory of your face, O Christ.

And let there be immesurable joy both now and for evermore. Amen.”

As Christ loves us, may we also love one another. (John 13:34) As Christ served his disciples, may we also serve one another. (John 13:14) We are the Body of Christ!

The LORD said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, 2“This month shall be for you the beginning of months. It shall be the first month of the year for you. 3Tell all the congregation of Israel that on the tenth day of this month every man shall take a lamb according to their fathers' houses, a lamb for a household. 4And if the household is too small for a lamb, then he and his nearest neighbor shall take according to the number of persons; according to what each can eat you shall make your count for the lamb. 5Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male a year old. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats, 6and you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of this month, when the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill their lambs at twilight.

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth; I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.

He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.

On the third day he rose again.
