Music Notes by: Ashley Sosis Have you ever heard someone say, “when I get to heaven, I’m going to ask Jesus ___________?” My question would be, “what hymn did you sing with the disciples in the upper room?” I’d love to continue, “How did you choose it, how did it go and was anyone playing an instrument?” You might find this funny, because from what we know about heaven, it can be assumed that one would no longer care about something like this, but I DO REALLY WANT TO KNOW. What music was chosen to be sung on the eve of one of the most important days of the history of mankind? Whatever the answer would be, I was happy to call a few friends (bios on page 18) to help me with tonight’s service that commemorates Jesus’s last supper with his disciples, which will be accompanied by both pipe organ and classical guitar. I hope that the music that we sing together tonight may be meaningful to you as you continue to walk with our Lord through this holiest of weeks.

THE WASHING OF FEET Celebrant:
Fellow servants of our Lord Jesus Christ: On the night before his death, Jesus set an example for his disciples by washing their feet, an act of humble service. He taught that strength and growth in the life of the Kingdom of God come not by power, authority, or even miracle, but by such lowly service. We all need to remember his example, but none stand more in need of this reminder than those whom the Lord has called to the ordained ministry. Therefore, I invite you who share in the royal priesthood of Christ, to come forward, that I may recall whose servant I am by following the example of my Master. But come remembering his admonition that what will be done for you is also to be done by you to others, for “a servant is not greater than his master, nor is one who is sent greater than the one who sent him. Iain Boyd, Rector Ashley Sosis, Music Director Dr. Daniel Hull earned a Bachelor of Music degree in guitar performance from Illinois State University where he studied with Douglas Rubio and the degrees Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts in guitar performance from the Eastman School of Music while studying with Nicholas Goluses. An active soloist, ensemble musician and teacher, Hull has performed throughout the United States, Europe and the Caribbean. He is currently on the music faculty of Coastal Carolina University where he teaches guitar, music appreciation, and directs the CCU Guitar Ensembles. Cynthea Kelly is a sophomore much student at Coastal Carolina University. She studies classical guitar with Dr. Daniel Hull and recently began working at the recording studio on Coastal's campus. Having grown up in a musical home, Cynthea started playing the piano and the guitar as an elementary student by the encouragement and inspiration of her family.She and her sister Liz perform at local coffee houses, restaurants, and various music venues in Myrtle Beach. They are currently producing an album of original music with their band Wintersweet, which will be released at the beginning of the summer. As she hopes to pursue a career as a musician, Cynthea is currently studying to become a well-rounded performer, producer, and songwriter

Good Friday March 25th, 2016 9am to 12pm -Prayer Vigil in the Chapel 12:15 pm – Good Friday Service In our traditional Good Friday mid-day service, the St. Augustine Choir will chant Lodovico Viadana’s setting of the Passion according to John and sing John Sanders’ beautiful choral setting of The Reproaches. 6:00 pm – Seven Last Words of Christ Concert The St. Augustine Choir will present Théodore Dubois’ setting of the Seven Last Words of Christ with the choir of St. Andrew’s Church of Myrtle Beach. Easter Day March 27th, 2016 7:45 – Rite I (Chapel) 9:00 – Contemporary Worship 11:00 – Traditional Traditional Worship The 11am service will feature the St. Augustine choir, accompanied by the Canterbury Bells Handbell Choir and the High Tide Brass Quintet. The Trinity office will be closed on Good Friday (March 25th) and Easter Monday (March 28th).
