About This Service This morning’s lessons and carols are organized around the “Great O” Antiphons, a series of chants that were sung along with the Magnificat at Vespers on the seven nights before Christmas Eve. Each antiphon is a prayer for deliverance, and they all begin by addressing the Messiah by one of the prophetic titles found in the Old Testament: Dec 17 Dec 18 Dec 19 Dec 20 Dec 21 Dec 22 Dec 23

These antiphons embed a striking acrostic: read in inverse order from last to first, the second letter of each antiphon spells out the words ERO CRAS, which in Latin means “tomorrow I will be with you,” a message that is not revealed until the final antiphon is sung on December 23.

Announcements Advent Lessons & Carols: Today at the 11:00am service, The St. Augustine Adult Choir and St. Cecilia Children’s Choir of Trinity Church will present a lessons and carols service incorporating choral anthems and congregational hymns that anticipate the joy of the Holiday Season. A cookie and cider reception will follow in Gravely Hall. Congratulations: The following were elected to serve on the Vestry beginning in 2014: Fred Akel, Erica Davis, Danny MacDonald, and Susan Shanks. The following were elected to serve as delegates to the Diocesan Convention: John Ed Copeland, Tom Webb, and Bob Bell as alternate. Munroe Monckton and Collins Wakefield were elected to serve on the Trinity Foundation Board of Directors. The vote to change amendments to Trinity Church By-Laws passed with 78 votes. Men's Bible Studies Offered: A Bible study, Gospel Centered Life, meets every Wednesday morning from 7am-8am in Gravely Hall. A Bible study also meets every Thursday morning at 7:30 am at Croissants at 38th. Prayer Shawl Ministry: The Prayer Shawl Ministry will meet on Wednesdays at 3pm in the parlor. Yarn will be available in the Parlor wicker chest if you need it for a shawl. There are shawls that are finished and are available to be given to those who need them. Please see Pastor Bruce to request a shawl. If you have any questions, please call Dan Farley at 712-2979. Pastoral Care at Trinity: It is of greatest importance that you contact the church if you are ill or in the hospital. "In case of illness, the Minister of the Congregation is to be notified." Please Wear Your Name Tag!: Trinity is blessed by having beautiful name tags that have been crossstitched and laminated for long life. Indeed, they will last a very long time if they just sit in the rack, never being handled or pinned onto clothing! New members find it very helpful to put names with faces, and visitors welcome such an effort on their behalf. As Trinity attracts more new families and individuals, it is most important that all parishioners wear their nametags each Sunday. Tea on Tuesday: Here is a chance to get to know some of the folks you see at church on Sunday mornings. Once a month there will be tea at Trinity in the parlor hosted by Caroline McKee from 2:303:30. Please bring a small portion goody to share. Tea will be provided. The next tea is scheduled for December 17th . Looking forward to getting to know you better. Caroline McKee 449-3629 Epiphany Evensong: Sunday, January 5th 4:00pm Organ Recital, Ashley Sosis 4:30pm Evensong featuring the Trinity Choir The Trinity Church Choir will present an evensong service using the Rite I traditional Anglican liturgy for Epiphany. The Evensong will include a prelude recital beginning at 4pm by Ashley Sosis, director of music. A light meal will follow in Gravely Hall. New Members/Confirmation Classes: Classes will be on from 5:30 pm-7:00 pm on the following Sundays in 2014: January 19, 26, Feb. 2, 9, 16, & 23. You are welcome to attend this class if you have been coming to Trinity for years or for only one Sunday. Those who complete these classes will be welcomed into the church when the Bishop visits Trinity in June 2014. Stewardship Reminder: If you are not up to date on your pledge, please try to catch up.
