What a remarkable year it has been. As I reflect on the past twelve months, I am filled with gratitude for the extraordinary support of our Ashley Hall community, and with overwhelming pride in the spirit that defines this school. At the heart of Ashley Hall is a mission that has remained constant for generations: to educate girls and young women to be independent, ethically responsible, and prepared to meet the challenges of their world with confidence. Every day, that mission comes to life through meaningful relationships, inspired teaching, and experiences that encourage our students to grow into thoughtful, compassionate leaders.

None of this happens without the generosity of the Ashley Hall constituency.

Philanthropy is woven into the fabric of this school, creating opportunities that enrich every student’s experience each day. From inspiring classrooms and exceptional teachers to the arts, athletics, and the enduring strength of our alumnae network, your support brings our mission to life in meaningful and lasting ways.

This year, that shared commitment resulted in extraordinary generosity.

More than 1,000 donors came together to contribute a record-breaking $1.4 million to the Loyalty Fund, providing immediate support for the people, programs, and experiences that define an Ashley Hall education.

Additional philanthropic investments through major gifts and our endowment are strengthening the School’s long-term financial foundation while making meaningful improvements across campus today. The results are visible. With strong market returns and meaningful donations, we are seeing a growing endowment, which is critical to Ashley Hall’s long-term financial health and enables us to invest back into the School. This year, we installed a new roof and elevator for McBee House, replaced the sports court at the heart of campus, upgraded HVAC systems, improved

campus drainage, and enhanced walkways with new pavers. These donations do more than improve our facilities. While some of these investments are visible in the spaces our students enjoy each day, many more are reflected in the opportunities they experience, the exceptional faculty who guide them, and the vibrant community that makes Ashley Hall so distinctive.

This progress would not be possible without the steadfast leadership of our Board of Trustees. Their vision and commitment ensure that Ashley Hall is well-positioned not only for today but for the next 117 years. I am especially grateful to Board Chair Rhett Outten, an alumna of the Class of 1982 and parent of alumnae of the Classes of 2006 and 2009, for her nine years of dedicated service on the Ashley Hall Board of Trustees and for her exceptional leadership over the past two years as Board Chair. Rhett has played a pivotal role in strengthening our historic campus, advancing critical facilities improvements, and fostering significant growth in our endowment.

The community’s belief in our mission— and its investment in our future—matters more than ever. Philanthropy and a continued culture of generosity are essential to sustaining Ashley Hall, not just today, but for generations to come. A YEAR IN REVIEW

From achievements in academics, arts, and athletics to meaningful growth among students, faculty, staff, and alumnae, this has been an extraordinary year.

ACADEMICS The School made meaningful strides in advancing its academic program, building on innovative teaching and learning initiatives while continuing progress toward becoming an International Baccalaureate World School. Paramount to this work was our comprehensive study of how we use space and time, which has culminated in a new way of moving through our day, with girls’ needs central to our planning.

ARTS Students continued to nurture their creativity across the visual and performing arts. Shakespeare at the Bear Cave returned this spring with a magical Middle and Upper School production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Lower School students demonstrated their understanding of biomes through an imaginative stop-motion animation art project, and our Middle School students choreographed their own dances to reflect their appreciation for our global cultures.

ATHLETICS Panther Athletics continued to demonstrate its strength with another State Championship in Tennis and for the Equestrian team. Ashley Hall’s Swim team also performed exceptionally well, earning state runner-up honors. Twenty-two athletic teams engaged nearly 70% of Ashley Hall students in grades 5–12, highlighting the transformative impact of team sports in fostering leadership, discipline, and personal growth.

ENROLLMENT Belief in Ashley Hall’s program remains strong, with continued enrollment growth.

More than 750 students called Ashley Hall home during the 2025–2026 school year, and we welcomed over 150 new students this fall.

FACULTY This year’s Daisy Barron Leland Award for Teaching Excellence in Math, Science, and Technology was awarded to Early School educator Rachael Carter in recognition of her inquiry-driven approach to STEM education with our youngest students.

The Miels Smith Award for Teaching Excellence, which recognizes a teaching faculty member selected by the Senior Class members of the National Honor Society who truly embodies the values of Ashley Hall, was presented to Dr. Claire Christensen, Physics teacher and Science and Technology Department Chair.

While the National Association of Independent Schools recommends an endowment of approximately

$20 million for a school our size, every gift brings us closer to that goal and expands what is possible for our students.

As Ashley Hall considers how its mission will shape its future, the School seeks support beyond the Loyalty Fund to address long-term strategic goals. During the 2025–2026 year, the top priorities were to grow Ashley Hall’s Endowment and address facilities projects identified as Campus Initiatives. We are grateful to the community for partnering with the School in this most generous way to further enhance the Ashley Hall experience.

The Ashley Hall Endowment provides long-term financial stability, ensuring Ashley Hall can sustain academic excellence, attract and retain exceptional faculty, and remain accessible to talented students for generations. Together, the Ashley Hall Alumnae Association Board accomplished something extraordinary: raising nearly $17,000 for the Loyalty Fund—more than $7,500 above last year’s total—and achieving 100% participation by October 1. Thank you for your generosity and commitment to Ashley Hall. Finally, the School’s thoughtful stewardship of the Alumnae Scholarship Endowed Fund deserves recognition: the fund now stands at an impressive nearly $400,000, ensuring that legacy students with demonstrated need can attend Ashley Hall for generations to come.

GALENTINE’S GIVE:

Sharing the Love, One Gift at a Time

This February, Ashley Hall Alumnae turned Valentine’s week into an opportunity to celebrate the bonds of sisterhood through our inaugural Galentine’s Give initiative. From February 9–13, alumnae were invited to share the love by making a gift to the Loyalty Fund in honor of a fellow alumna, who was then notified of the tribute and encouraged to pass the love forward by making her own gift in another alumna’s honor.

The response was heartwarming: 166 gifts were made in just five days, raising over $7,000 for the Loyalty Fund. More than a fundraising campaign, Galentine’s Give became a chain of gratitude and connection, reminding alumnae near and far that the relationships formed here continue to give, year after year.

Our campus is the proud home of Horizons at Ashley Hall for six weeks every summer and on Saturdays throughout the regular school year. Horizons is a tuition-free enrichment program that engages approximately 140 girls in Charleston County who face opportunity or achievement gaps. Over the summer and throughout the year, Horizons students engage in academics and enrichment opportunities led by highly qualified teachers, designed to prevent summer learning loss, boost confidence, and ignite a love of learning. In addition to summer programming, monthly activities are planned to maintain connections with students and provide family support throughout the year. Ashley Hall is grateful to partner with Horizons National as part of the School’s mission to educate and prepare young women to meet the challenges of their world.

CELEBRATING HORIZONS GRADUATES In 2025, Horizons at Ashley Hall celebrated a milestone the program had been building toward since the very first summer—our first graduating class. Many of these remarkable young women began their Horizons journey in 2018 as rising second graders, and over the years we have watched them grow into confident, resilient, and determined young leaders.

Building on that milestone, Summer 2026 marked the launch of our High School Pilot Program, welcoming our nine graduates back to Horizons for college and career exploration, leadership development, and continued support as they begin their high school journey.

The Planned Giving Society at Ashley Hall Ashley Hall’s founder, Mary Vardrine McBee, exemplified and championed the merits found in a life of valued-based philanthropy. Today, she is the patroness of the McBee Society, an organization of foresighted and generous donors who have included Ashley Hall in their estate plans. Bequests and other planned gifts have a lasting impact on Ashley Hall and serve as a continuing source of support. The McBee Society has over one hundred members who have made commitments that will positively impact our community for future generations.
